Still undecided on mirrors I like the bar ends but, I don't want to have the big stock turn signals up front. I ordered an integrated conventional mirror/turn signal to see if I like that. Man bike feels sooo much smaller without the fairing. Been a while since I had a truly naked bike was worried about the wind-blast but it doesn't bother me at all, especially when the temps are above 85f/30c. Thought I'd share if anyone was interested in doing the conversion cheap and not chromed-out. I'm also going to clean up all the ugliness of the fuel pump behind the oil cooler, how is this mounted on the early naked sports? Under Spine? Are there issues w/ vapor lock then?

Well after looking at Chamberlin's bike I feel a little ashamed even posting pics of my "20 footer" bike (looks good 20 feet away). But I've got my headlight mounted and for cheap about $55 including hardware, not including mirrors/turn signals. Original LeMans headlight, with the spacers mounted between the ears and bracket instead of between the bracket and headlight.

    I'm just sayin'

Amazing that I can maintain a high rate of speed but still take two hours to get a gallon of milk... I just start it up can't help where the thing wants to go.
  4. Guzzidiag is Sweet! So easy to set up, even a third generation standing upright, techno illiterate, can't find the "K" keyboard masher like me can figure it out! I haven't even played with the maps yet. Gotta send those folks some beer money. That being said, my CO was/is zeroed at idle when warm. My tach. actually reads accurately, I've always had it set a little too high 1300-1400, backed it down a bit. Will/should lowering idle effect the whole rev. range?
  5. The low fuel light shouldn't turn on unless fuel is low.
  6. Glad to hear your persistence has paid off.

As beautiful as the fairing is on the LeMans, I'm thinking it's going to have to get naked. Nothing permanent, and sorry my fairing is not for sale at this time. Step one: Gathering parts. I didn't really like any of the "cafe/chopper/bobber" fork ears available within an easy search. So I took it upon myself to create a cheap setup that won't cause me to fabricate anything. I came across these "accessory light" brackets that I thought I could use and are pretty reasonable. Some stainless hex screws and we're in business. But obviously the stock LeMans 7" headlight won't work here so i need a bracket of some sort..... Took a lot of searching but I found the right understated piece that will go well with the subtleties of the v11. This is from a sort of an adult erecter-set/Ikea company that makes this sort of crazy DIY furniture called 80/20 never heard of em' before, kinda cool. The color of the "mount" is not quite a match for the black marzocchi forks as I wanted a somewhat invisible mount like the v11 Sport. But they're cheap and plentiful. Also I swear to god I measured the stanchions at 50mm diameter w/ a buddy's micrometer... Mine says 53mm, so the mount isn't a perfect fit as it's rated for 50mm. Measure once, buy twice. So, what's cool about my half-witted set up is that the mount can either be inside or outside of the stanchions (sic?). Meaning that with the combined thickness of the brackets (.25") and the ability to flip the mounts inside/outside I should be able to use either the stock (7") Lemans headlight bucket or a much classier (8") sport/monster/bosch headlight..... If that makes sense. Hopefully the 4.5" length of the bracket (about 4" from mount hole to mount hole) is enough to cover the visual intrusion of the instrument panel. Haven't gotten into the actual conversion yet. Still debating between Bar-end mirrors and standard, plus turn signals. Comment/suggestions are welcome you're not going to hurt my feelings.
  8. All I could find is "Yamaha ring-free" and this picture less link. http://www.partspak.com/ProductCart/pc/Yamaha-ACC-CLEAN-DI-00-Internal-Engine-Cleaner-Quart-New-ACC-CLEAN-D1-00-p236126.htm Not cheap.... Must be good. Emry, why the hate on sea-foam? Just curious.
  9. Three words: ratcheting box wrench. Works great for stuff like that!
  10. Welded, back on and.... still pinging. Oh well, it's better it'll be okay until I check that CO/idle.
  11. I've always blindly bought 120/70, never considering 120/60 but on my lemans the front has always been quick to steer. The rear is a little less so....
  12. This probably isn't helping with my pinging.... hard to see but that is a crack. Probably just going to do a temp. fix for now.
  13. You are probably the authority on v11 clutches by now. Good news!

That's not a solo saddle on his v7? I know Honda has got there hand in a "vintage/retro" model already but a new GB500.... Those of us that were too young to buy em originally we should get a chance.
  16. Cry in' shame huh Andy? Lord knows I get the same face as your avatar anytime I'm on mine.
  17. Dawdish, having done this timing cover gasket on a lemans. I can tell you that pulling off the fairing is probably the easiest part, really! It's only like six bolts and it comes right off don't let that scare you.
  18. Well count me in as someone interested in solving multiple problems with one cheap product! Please, do tell! I believe he's talking about the famed 'Roper Sloper', a windage tray that he manufactures. There are tons of post on it that would explain it much better then me.
  19. Not a bad backdrop!

Best looking gauges I've seen yet!
  21. what about a plain ole motorcycle shop? not many MG shops within 100mi. of me.
  22. No idea what the CO is, probably should dive into that. Is it something that any MC shop could do? I'm sure it's a combination of heat and carbon build-up. Sea-foam to the rescue?...again. I'll just start going with the high octane fuel w/ethanol from now on. Best I can do, short of refining my own.
  23. almost mk.1 lemans like
  24. Truthfully riding season might be backwards down here (for some riders anyway) because it is getting hot(85-90f, 29-32c). Which is at least probably partially responsible for my latest issue.... I've always had a small pinging issue: i.e. rolling on throttle below 4200RPM nothing major barely audible. Now though it seems to be getting worse, up higher in the rev range and under less load. Fuel is either 92-93 octane w/ ethanol but mostly 90 no ethanol seems to have no effect. You've seen my plugs. Is whatever that's causing my oil consumption building up too much carbon in the combustion chamber? Causing pre ignition? Also I've been trying to cure my leaky timing sensor and am wondering (having not yet measured my sensor gap) if anyone has played with the phase sensor/timing gap? There doesn't seem to be any set in stone ideal gasket/spacer thickness for the v11 at $.43-.78 I can splurge and try a few sizes but I'm not sure this has any effect on timing as points would? Also I've read that the TPS might effect timing right now my baseline is at precisely 165mv and 525mv all hooked up. Would reducing my baseline retard the timing somewhat? I know it's impossible to know what is causing this in my particular case I just don't want to chase my tail to no effect. Lord knows I've had my issues with this bike.
