On a somewhat related topic, I thought I read somewhere the difference between the 15M and 15RC is the lambda sensor. My 2004 Cafe Sport has a plug in for the lambda sensor. What would the benefits/disadvantages be of installing a 15RC ECU in my V11 (has the 15M), and using a lambda? I know many have turned off their lambda on the 15RC's (I did it for a while on my V7 Classic), but MPG dropped from about 50 MPG to the low 40's. I didn't notice a huge difference in how the bike ran when I rode it with the lambda off. I'm not really sure how the lambda changes the fuel on the 15RC's, but has anybody figured out how to change what it does in Guzzidiag? That seems like it would be a decent way to change how rich or lean it runs through the RPM's. I imagine it may be similar to what a FatDuc does... Ken

Is that company owned by Rob Halford? Most curious that he would get into the O Ring business. Ken

Here's a review on the Q3's http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/60306/pr/dunlop-sportmax-q3-rear-tireLooks like a low mileage tire. I have/had Pirelli Angel tires on my Griso and V11 Sports, and I like them. Sorry, can't speak for how they are on the Norge. Ken

Am I understanding this correctly? You're engine temp will read 125C while running, and change to 52 non-running? Does that happen immediately after turning off the bike, then turning the ignition back on? As far as changing CO, connect to Guzzidiag with only the ignition on when you get the the CO adjustment. GD will prompt you to start the engine when it's needed. Ken

Roy had his awesome idea of adding LED's to the relays, so you know when one is bad. Why don't they make stock relays like that? They have fuses that do a similar thing (they light up when they blow). Seems like an opportunity for someone to make a few bucks. Ken

The cap that covers the 3 ECU diagnostic connector (where we hook up Guzzidiag) is missing. Anybody know where to get one from? What do they call that type of connector? Ken

Spit, Sputter, Hiccup, Cough at around 3,000 RPM

My 2001 V11S did this as well until my local dealer increased the CO setting. Get Guzzidiag and increase it by 10, and see if that solves it. Ken -
Did your bike originally come with the 15M? Maybe if you choose other models with the 15RC, you might stay connected. I'm just guessing at this point. Ken

In your picture, it shows a 15RC ECU, and your V11 has a 15M ECU. You'll need to choose the proper model when connecting with Guzzidiag. Ken

I'd like to try it as well. I sent an email to you. Ken

Thanks for posting this! I just changed the rear tire on my V11S, and I forgot to tighten down the carrier bolt on the rear carrier. Good thing I didn't ride the bike yet... I'm glad you're ok, and good luck getting this all sorted out. Ken

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just added the Triumph extender to my V11. Not perfect, but close enough for me. I didn't trim it, as I like the angle it was mounted at. I also used 3M 2 sided outdoor tape, and stainless bolts to mount it. Ken

Very cool, and I wish I could help you with the neutral light issue. Maybe it's in the programming of the Koso? Your wheelbase measurement of 1858 sounds accurate. I have my Sigma wheelbase programmed at 1835, and I think it needs to go up just a little bit. It's hard to verify for sure with my GPS, as the both have a slight delay with MPH. Ken

I just replaced the dash lights with LEDs, as the original ones shorted out and blew a fuse. These should hold up nicely until I can order my speed hut gauges. The only issue is that the bulbs have a 30 degree light angle, so the gauges aren't illuminated evenly. These bulbs fit in the original rubber bulb holder (I didn't use the collar supplied with the lights). I had a little pinging on my first ride (2-3k RPM), but that was with a mixture of 5 yr. old and new gas. I'll know for sure this weekend when I can take it to work with fresh gas and flog it some. If it still pings, at least I can get rid of it. Ken

So I picked up this bad boy a few weeks ago in Battle Creek, and not much has gone smoothly getting it done. Oil filter was practically glued into place, dash light bulb holders shorted out on me, and so on. This bike was in storage for about 5 years, and was much dirtier than it appeared once I started taking parts off. Normally, I don't name bikes, but "Dirty Bear" seems to fit well. Phase 1 is complete, and I will be starting on phase 2 when I have time and the weather is bad. Thanks to Docc for the tank off maintenance list, as it helped me stay on track. Thanks to others that have posted over the years with various tips and tricks (especially Kiwi Roy), so that I could find answers to my issues in a hurry. I've done so much to this bike, that I can't even keep track of it anymore. This bike runs way stronger, and much smoother than my 2001 V11S. Here's all of the pics I have so far on photo bucket, if anyone wants to scroll through them. Ken http://s286.photobucket.com/user/ksiegel7/library/V11%20Cafe?sort=6&page=1 Before: After:

I've been way too busy working or in the garage working on the bike. The nut came right off with a 24mm socket and a breaker bar. Hopefully tonight I can put on the clip ons, now that the forks are rebuilt. Ken
-
On my sport, the PO removed the clip-ons, and installed actual handlebars. I have the clip-ons, and will probably install them on top of the upper triple tree. Ken
-
Yes, the bar end weights are off. I'll try fluid and heat later this week, but I just might put on a set of clip-ons instead. Believe it or not, those nuts were already rounded off like that. I took the pic before I had a go at it. This bike is cleaning up incredibly well... Ken

What the heck are these, and how are they removed? A giant spanner wouldn't budge these, and it's too big for my new grips to go over. I have gold colored bars, and I assume they're stock. Ken

Yes, it's from JRT, and that bike and I have been on some amazing adventures together. Over 20K miles in the past 3 years, and now that it's well sorted, another bike comes my way that needs a little TLC. As much as I like these bikes, it seems silly to have 2 of them. Things I need to do to the Cafe: 1. New Speedo. Not sure if I want a new ITI, or go with a Speedhut. 2. Ohlins front fork weeps a little. Local Ducati dealer will refurb for $90 labor + $60 for seals and fluid. Better than me spending several hours on them, and they'll have it done the same day I drop it off. 3. Tank off maintenance checklist. Thanks for all of that info, docc. It needs all new fluids, filters and greasing, and I can knock that out in an afternoon. I'll replace the wheel bearings when I take the forks in. 4. Front fairing. It's missing, and I'm not used to having the headlight and instrument cluster stationary. Anybody have any ideas for a cool fairing? Ken

As is turns out, I'm forced to sell my 2001 V11S. Almost 40k miles, and now running perfectly. However, there is good news. I just bought a 2004 V11 Cafe. Approx. 8k miles, but needs a little bit of attention. I need to get one bike roadworthy, and the other bike ready for sale. Anybody here interested? Here's a pic of the 2004: Ken

What I don't like about this method is the the wire ends are pointy and can cut through in insulation over time. I try to smooth them out. Ken

Jet-Lube CB-2 grease should fit the bill on this. Available from Amazon, Gainger, and a few other places. http://www.jetlube.com/pages/CB-2.html Ken
