Nice find, Craig! That's definitely it.

That's a nice looking taillight --would you happen to know where it was sourced?
-
It does look absolutely perfect on there, doesn't it?
-
Cool! And we ought to think about a Southwest Guzzi meet/ride...

I have both perf and solid leathers. Same with the jackets (the Cobra has a unique venting system that includes The perforations). Living in So Cal, the perfs are a must.

Way back in the old days, when synthetic oils were fairly new, they used to say that. Synthetic oils have come a long way and there is no reason to do that anymore, other than the cost of the oil. As far as I know they come from Guzzi with synthetic oil in them from the factory. I would not put non-synthetic oil in there. Oil is very important to plain bearing motors. As I understand it, it wasn't that the synthetic was lacking in some way, but rather, it it lubricated too well and did not allow rings to seat properly. I don't know if "break in oil" is still used by many manufacturers, but I suspect it was still very much in use when our Guzzi V1's were made.

Replacement Veglia or ITI Speedometers - Ducati?
Rhino1 replied to Rhino1's topic in Technical Topics
Docc, I just read through Chamberlin's thread in its entirety--good stuff. And it looks like the Speedhut gauges are a great option. -
Vanson gear is absolutely worth the asking price--thick, supple, cowhide, well made, and providing superb protection. I have the Cobra jacket and Sport pants, and a couple of their full leathers (oh, and two pairs of gloves...). My first set of "real" race leathers were take offs I bought from a more experienced racer at Willow Springs Race Way (here in So Cal) sometime in the late 80's. They had already been down a few times... I put another 2 or 3 impacts on them, with only one minor repair needed. They are so reknown for their quality, that they helped launch "New Enough Leathers," one of the first online stores for "recycled" leather jackets and suits, in the mid 90's. They primarily sold used Vanson product. They are TOUGH leathers of unparalleled quality... I've bought a few more products from them since then. Regarding helmets, Arai are hands-down my absolute favorite. However, I do venture off-brand (lol) once in a while. For example, I am really enjoying my new Nexx XR2 Carbon helmet...

Nice work, Chamberlin! Just went through the whole thread--nicely documented.

Are you going with a GPS speedo or going to use the existing drive? -
Replacement Veglia or ITI Speedometers - Ducati?
Rhino1 replied to Rhino1's topic in Technical Topics
I was afraid this might be the answer... I suppose I could try a Duc version (they're cheap enough on fleabay...). There used to be an outfit here in California that offered a repair service, but I understand that they are out of the necessary repair parts. Anyone else have any experience with this? -
I've done a search and can't find anything that answers this question: Has anyone successfully used a speedometer off of a Ducati or similar Italian motorcycle to replace a broken Guzzi ITI speedo? Seems like the late-90's/early 2000's Ducati Veglia speedo's might work. Anyone know what ratio they run? I need to replace or repair the broken ITI speedo on my '03 LeMans. I'd prefer not to have to run a bicycle speedo if I don't have to. I know that VDO gauges have been made to work, but I'm not enamored with their appearance. Thanks.

Link isn't working again, FYI.

You could disconnect the cable at the tranny end (ride side of bike), and give it a manual turn by hand to see if the MPH changes. Also, make sure the cable connection is tight at the speedo end. FWIW, when I changed my cable, I just replaced the innards (it pulls out from either ends, once disconnected) and reconnected. Chances are, your cable just seared off at either end of the connections. Mine happened at the speedo side. Ken Thanks, Ken. I've pulled the end off the speedo (I was in there anyway, trying to fix a blinker light that was out--it burnt out again, as soon as I buttoned her up, but that's an issue for another post... and it was intact, so maybe it's bad on the other end. I'll give it another shot tomorrow and see if I can pull it through.

Somewhat related question: How does one know it's the speedo cable and the not the speedo itself that is an issue? I have a dead speedo, but I'm not certain that it's the cable....

Great pics! Looks like a nice ride--I should try it soon! BTW, where did you get that tank pad? Looks like the old Karbacher (sp) pad? Nice Scura!

I WAS gonna' say something, but, discretion being the better part of valor, I kept my mouth shut... lol

Spit, Sputter, Hiccup, Cough at around 3,000 RPM
Rhino1 replied to Rhino1's topic in Technical Topics
Yeah, mine has the cross over in the front (the Titanio exhaust). Went for a nice long ride today. The sputtering seemed to be a bit worse when the engine was nice and toasty (through some traffic). I learned to ride around it, but will address it... -
Spit, Sputter, Hiccup, Cough at around 3,000 RPM

Thank you, gentlemen--I will do all things suggested. It just felt weird that the problem only exists if I hover around 3k. My first V11 didn't have a PCIII and that may be where my answer ultimately lies. I'll try unplugging it too. -
The dealer set it to +10. Guzzi calls for CO of 2.0 PPM, and my dealer likes to set it at 4PPM, which ended up at +10. That also got rid of the 3k stumble or hiccup that most of our bikes have or had. I recently dropped it to +6 when the temps dropped, as my bike runs very rich in these WI winters. Ken Ken, This 3k stumble--I don't remember having it on my '03 naked sport, but a new-to-me '03 Rosso has a hiccup/popping at 3k... only at 3 k. Might this be the same hiccup you speak of? And if so, can I resolve it merely by tuning it with the PC3, or do I have to go with the advance ECM tuning? Thx!
-
So, I recently took delivery of a new-to-me 2003 Rosso Corsa. Love the bike, and everything feels great... except for a hiccup around the 3k range on the tach, especially at a steady state throttle. The bike has the Kit ECM, and a power commander. I'm thinking it might need a TPS adjustment, but would like to know if anyone has any additional input/ideas? It would seem that a coil or plug issue would be intermittent--and I presume the same would be the case if the PCIII or ECM was acting up. Idle, start up, acceleration are just fine. Thanks!

Mobile one gear/diff synthetic? Works great in our oil heads...

Carb cleaner eats rubber parts right quick So, what would you use? (I actually use electronics cleaner, since brake parts cleaner is probably even worse than carb cleaner.) WD40? I've used WD40 to good effect in this role...
-
Ditto. And good stuff, Roy. Thx!

I went FROM a Griso TO my V11... and have had the Mille Factory since '05.. My V11 seems to be related to your Scura...
