Well I was finally able to trace it. Unfortunately, It's the transmission that is leaking. Not sure where or how. I switched to a red gear oil and found a few drips and lots of smear on the bottom. First thing I'll check is if it's overfilled (I fill it on the sidestand) and check if it needs a crush washer. Next I'll look for cracks,

I think the Sport will be a sportier ride than the Beemer. Hopefully, given it's age and mileage it's been sorted out. One thing that might be a difference is riding a traditional fork on the Sport vs the Telelever Beemer. I really like the feel and handling of the Sport (other than highway weave issue) and didn't get used to the "power steering" that some Beemers have. It might be the opposite for you.

That doesn't look fun at all. When in a fast sweeper and I hit a bump my Sport will sometimes give 1 or 2 wiggles and settle immediately. Looking at the film. I wonder if the sitting upright acts as a spoiler and unloads the front wheel, increasing the wobble, and lying down loads it back up by eliminating the spoiler effect and also shifting some weight forward. I didn't see the "lying down" test with any of the faired bikes. I wonder if it would work as well, (or at all), as the naked bikes. Interesting film that shows the need for attention to tire condition and pressure. For sure, weighting the front improves weave (mis)behavior, as does attention to tire condition and pressure. Regarding RedFrames, they are certainly shorter than later (2002 on) long-frames while the fork rake remains the same. Except (reportedly) the earliest RedFrames with the notable triple clamp numbers. LowRyter: look up under your upper triple clamp with a light and find the part number . . . . ? Docc, Not sure I follow. My front axle is screwed to my fork leg? I'd certainly hope so. Not getting what you mean. I'll see if I can check for a part number soon.

well Phil, There are 3 shops in the USA that will do this work. Joel got it done on time and on cost and talked to me about it on the phone. You know I didn't even think about the needle until I got it back. But yeah, maybe he should've caught it. And I should've told him about it. On the other hand it doesn't look discolored, only white.

SD. He did not. I should've mentioned it him. The face was fine but the red needle was faded and he didn't paint it or replace it. I think he probably would paint the needle- I've done it myself fixing the tach on my EV. I would guess the face might be another issue since it would require much more work or a replacement. I would call him and ask.

A Racetech tech told me that single rate springs work best on front forks. I am not sure for the reason. Also, someone on the board here had found a Racetech Gold Valve kit that fits the V11 although no kit was listed by Racetech. You might search the board.

MF- looks like a nice flyscreen. Good job. I didn't new years got up to about 40. I rode the day after and got about 5 miles and determined that it's nuts.

I have a similar Guzzi fly screen on my Greenie. First, does it mounting holes on the sides to match the bolt ears on the headlight? If you have that, then it's just a matter of bracing the top half to the bars or triple clamp. You might find a local welder or machine shop to fab some mounts.

The Veglia Whiteface Speedometer on my 2001 Sport has been jumpy since I bought it with 12k miles on it a few years ago. The trip odo stem fell out a few months ago and was epoxied back in. I have 34k miles on it now and the Speedo finally packed it in and froze at 85 mph. It unfroze and finally froze again forever. I shopped around and got it repaired by Joel Levine in Lafayette Ga. He turned it around in a week and charged me $294 incl shipping. Got it back and reinstalled it and it works fine for the brief ride I took (in the rain). Speedo is steady and trip odo is turning. I think this is cheaper than getting a Speedhut replacement or from the two other repair shops in the US. The turn around was definitely quicker than anyone else. A couple of notes. I broke the light socket unawares. Got another one from Harpers and replaced both lamps 3V (for Speedo and Tach). I also notched the dash housing so I could install and remove the housing without taking the trip odo stem out. I couldn't get the housing to match up when I was trying to screw the stem back in in the first place. It was much easier just to screw the stem in and put the housing on. So far, so good. Joel tells me that Veglia weren't really good in the first place and the quality only got worse. For now, I recommend him.

I have the identical stem. How do you unscrew it? And if yours unscrews, what prevents you from unscrewing when you use it when you happen to twist it the opposite way?

I got it fixed by Joel Levine. He's online. Since I haven't installed it yet, I can only say it looks clean and the price and delivery were reasonable. Until I actually install it and use it, I can't make any determination. I am awaiting a 3v light socket that I damaged when I took it out. If I had known that I broke the socket at the time, I would've ordered one at the same time. BTW- I wrote him specifically about the stem and asked him not to install it because of the cover. He sent this note: "Hi, the Reset Knob is a LEFT HAND thread. After it is screwed in it will NOT unscrew, If any questions, please call. Thanks, Joel"

The Stem is on a ratchet and won't unscrew.

I don't think you can unscrew it since it's a reverse thread. Hence my question about cutting a notch.

I sent my speedometer for repair, got it back and am about to reinstall it on my V11 Sport. When I took the speedo off, the trip odo stem was broken. I am about install it and I notice that the stem is completely obstructed by the cover. That means once I install the stem that I won't be able to take the speedometer out to service it or replace the light bulb. Am I getting this right? I am tempted to cut a notch into the cover so that I can slip it off so it won't be encumbered by the odo stem. Here're some photos from my EV, same cover except it's chrome. So should I cut a notch in the cover or there another way to service the speedo if needed?

Rox, I had springs + Gold Valve installed on my Bandit. It made a huge difference but is still not as good as my Sport. IIRC there was nothing on the RT site regarding the V11 Sport. Perhaps you can give us the part numbers and the like so that we can obtain those parts and service?
