In my haste, I forgot to say thanks, so thank you guys.

I checked the oil cooler first, it was dry.

Ohh, I forgot to mention that I had them install a new breather hose on the bike. I had it stashed for a few months in the parts box. Is there enough pressure to make that kind of mess? Also, I mentioned changing the oil. Typically when I fill it up, in a few miles it pukes out enough to go to the bottom mark. Yes, I did mention all that to the tech. But his response was there shouldn't be that much pressure. Gone full circle on this one.

I feel like Rosanna Danna, if it's not one thing it's another. Some of you recall that I had a 50k mile refresh on the bike, brakes, tries, dyno tune, then Don dropped the bike, and he had to get new levers and mirrors, then got it home and gas leaks, finally got it running good and had the a few electrical contact issues. When I got the bike home, I changed the oil and have ridden about 500 miles or so. Running strong. Then, I got off the bike from the last ride and oil is dripping on both sides, my boots are polished. On the side stand, I'd guess a few ounces on the driveway. The top of the V on the motor is splashed, particularly the front. Splashed over the breather tube, especially wet at the banjo from oil cooler. Both the banjo and the sender seem tight. oooh well....

SO, use dielectric grease on the contacts?

I took my 939 Supersport out today. It's just a marvelous bike, light, seamless, stable, agile, balanced, quick, stylish. Certainly the best bike I've ever owned and for what it is, the best I've ever ridden. A total sweetspot. Tomorrow, I'm taking the Greenie to the Cars & Coffee deal. I was thinking about getting one of the custom licence plate holders with an inscription "Song of the Sausage Creature" ot some similar nonsense.

I don't think $350 is out of line if you want it pristine. Particularly when you consider the cost of the bike-specific paint. These guys repair a lot of plastic car bumpers. So the tech is well advanced. Consider the cost of a bumper repair and add a little for the rare paint match. I suppose you could purchase some of the two part bond/filler and give it a shot. If that worked out, you could make decision on painting it.

Quite a spread. I'd love to see the Alfa and the rug it's on. @Goofman

I'll stick with Dunlops <Guzzi content> $

https://www.motivcycleworks.com/ Your profile says an '01: contact Don and get the bellhousing bracket. Don't let the tranny crack like mine did. I'm sure I paid for the r&d for the bracket. Tell 'em John sent ya.

I always shoot some contact cleaner into that gap too. Next time I'll throw salt over my shoulder.

well not so much. I took it out to meet a fellow Guzzi rider and rode 60 miles one way, started to rain. Got a few backfires and a couple of skips/surges. After lunch, started to rain again. Started the bike and went for 50 ft, bike died altogether. Cranked but no fire. Played musical relays- looked dusty in there (?). Bike ran like a train all the way home. Got home and got the contact cleaner.

you painted the frame black?

Since I got the bike out of the shop, it's run a bit better but was getting an off throttle backfire, particular when I downshifted. Since the bike was dyno tuned, I'd thought they might've been just too aggressive with timing and/or fuel. Anyway I was going to take it back. Then Sunday, I took to the DGR ride and the problem got quite bit worse, lots of backfiring and hesitation. Then it occurred to me that it was likely the TPS. I opened the connector and gave it a shot of contact cleaner. Did a ride yesterday and it ran clean and strong

@Revilo best to you. build it the way you want it - once it's done like you want, ride it, enjoy it. Once you're riding it and happy, priceless. make it a journey and best of luck.

@guzzler Mine has 78 HP on the chassis dyno and it's got a pipe and PC. I don't know what it weighs with me on it, perhaps over the limit? It's gotta a nice power curve matched to the transmission and is a hoot to ride. agree that nice bikes aren't losing any money. It's a classic for what it is. Nothing looks better, sounds better, or handles much better for that size.

It's this Sunday. Taking the Sport. Not a lot of mention of it although the local ride has the biggest signup ever with 51.
-
TPS on my Sport has been OK for 50k. The EV has had three or four at 72k. Recently got the whole thing done, cleaned out the TB, reset balance and replaced TPS (actually went through 2, first one sent back). At the same time, got balance & tune, brakes and tires and once over on the Sport. TPS OK. I hope my Guzzi fiddling is done for a few years. I've thought about getting rid of the EV and sometimes the Sport but once I ride them, especially when they're running RIGHT, they put a smile on face. Since I've got them back the Duc was been ridden about half as before.

Congrats on a successful rally Joe. I'll have to make the trek some day.
