Keep a couple of hours free. And then expect to experience about half. The closed archive stuff was supervised by historian Douglas Brinkley. It's a serious endeavor. Also going on now is a three day seminar regarding Bob but I didn't get the full subject. I learned about it from a couple participants that were talking to us on the sidewalk after we left the exhibit. I don't see anything about it on the website. This is in a pretty neat part of Tulsa. There's a great music venue (Tulsa Theater) close by, that's where I've seen Tedeschi Trucks, Bill Maher, Jeff Beck, Leon, etc. Cool bars, restaurants and hotels, the Ball Park, the large arena (BOK Center) where I saw Roger Waters. Tulsa is a major architecture center too, lots of Art Deco era buildings and midcentury.

I just went to the Dylan Center in Tulsa. I'd post photos but they're too large to post. I did meet a fellow a couple of weeks ago on a Rosso Corsa Lemans that rode with me. Found out he works for Bonham's auction as a motorcycle specialist and was involved with selling McQueen's Husky from OAS ($220k). Also met Rudy and Michael D.

I can't say I saw many Guzzis in Italy but I got a good couple nods wearing a Guzzi t-shirt.

There's more truth than humor, since the 90 V twin seems to be the starting point for many of these. And just look at most of the new parallel twins that are mimicking it. Of course Ducati has gotten more notice for the last 30+ years compared to Guzzi.

Many more variables than the engine config, since the issues are volatile even within the same manufacturer from update to update. Just the risks of keeping a technical edge to up the competition.

even though the Yamaha is an inline engine, it's a "big bang" engine with a crank like a V8 rather than an inline 4. The V4 engines have manufacturers' unique cranks and firing intervals. Rossi did the original testing of the M1 and was given several combinations of screamer and big bang engines. Now all the bikes run some type of odd firing big bang engine.

I camped outside of town once and rode around the TVA stations along the river. It's a scenic area. But I'm not really familiar with it other than a single camp day. I took my toy hauler from Barber and camped on my way to the Dragon.

The only other issue I didn't mention, all of the fasteners were over tightened. They were lipstick marked and my guess is they guy might've gotten his metric torque numbers confused with his SAE muscles. I've had the pan off many times and never had the fasteners so tight. I tried to remove it when the bike was stone cold. Used a light mallet with no luck. So I filled with oil and reinstalled the bolts. I'm guessing it will take heat and maybe some high strength fishing line. Or some other technique TBD.
-
PA- I never change filters for every change. I usually change the oil at 3k intervals and at 9k I do the full service of fluids, filter and valve adjustment. I'm riding it for a while but I expect to shop to fix their problem. Same for the Sport too. If they were simple access filters, I'd change it at every oil change.
-
So am I. The bolts were all off, I couldn't see any sealant from the sides but it feels like it's welded on.
-
I couldn't see any sealant when I was trying to remove the pan. Only the paper gasket. I'm not the one that's going to try again. But advice is appreciated.
-
I don't suppose that heavy fishing line might saw through the gasket? It will be interesting to see what & how it will be done. More worrisome than interesting.

I'm just sick over this. I was doing the service on my '98 EV and couldn't get the pan and spacer off the bike to change the filter. I even tried socking it with a light mallet. The situation is that when the oil pump was replaced year or so ago, the tech used gasket sealer. Why he did it, I don't know. The tech no longer works there. Don, the shop owner reassures me that he can get it off. Since I was planning to drop the pan, I didn't warm up the engine- I'm not sure if that would've mattered. I'll probably ride around awhile since the oil is fresh. I'd be interested for any thoughts, recommendations or warnings. I have to wonder if the bike is totaled? After the tune up, it runs strong other than 2-3rd gear grind. Dis side intake valve was tight and the exhaust was loose. Normally I'd post on WG but it's too toxic for my participation right now.

The diagnosis for my bike is the plunger pin is a little worn. I do have the master cylinder rebuild kit is anyone has a need for it.

It's noteworthy that these bikes have gained some classic status but still have modern performance. This one is just about due for some reliability mods. So the question, a low mileage bike needing some upgrades or reliable higher mileage bike that's been maintained ?

Petrucci and Moto America
LowRyter replied to GuzziMoto's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Rainy's take https://www.motoamerica.com/motoamericas-statement-on-petrucci-incident-from-vir/ Although Petrucci’s crash occurred in a fast section of the racetrack, it’s also an area with the most run-off of any track at which MotoAmerica rounds are held. A sliding Petrucci also struck a single lightweight sponsor sign that consequently gave way as it is designed to do. Petrucci was up and continued walking and stood trackside until he deemed it was safe to walk across the track. He was then met by MotoAmerica staff and escorted in a vehicle to the trackside Medical Center, which was some 200 yards from the site of the incident. At that point, roughly three minutes had passed, and Petrucci was treated for his injuries. -
I've not kept up with this. So if I could ask, 1) how much? 2) what, if any, colors?

I purchased the master cylinder kit and getting a rear tire put on the Greenie. I'm getting the clutch serviced with the tire change. Perhaps I'll need the brake fluid serviced too? The tire has been in my garage for about 4 years. It looks good. I had it taken off when I was thinking of a long trip. The trip never happened. It's the exact same tire model and looks a dang site better than the one coming off. <tight wad Guzzi stuff> BTW- got a new tire on the Duc today, it's the same model too. Dunlop RS3.

Anyone here with Aprilia Tuono 1100 experience?
LowRyter replied to p6x's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
yes, if you pay tax in one state, it's normally offset in the home state. You have to show proof of tax paid. Since they don't charge tax upon sale here, I'm guessing that you just pay all the taxes if you register in TX. I've got a feeling that there's little consistency. My basic point was all this comparison of "out the door" costs is bogus. Taxes are different in each state and when you pay is different. I think 5 years ago that AF-1 was dealing close out basic Tuono for $10k. That was during MotoG weekend. The newer bikes seem to have a little better styling I think but it was the V4 model, not the older twin . -

Tulsa had a few of them last I was there. Also the new 660. In OK we pay taxes when we register not at sale which makes all this "out the door" stuff apples and oranges. I have no idea about taxes for out of state buyers, I'd think the buyer would exempt. -
It's probably not the kickstand switch. Mine went out and doesn't lockout anymore. Bike starts any time- when it wants to start.

I've only sat on one but the ergos are more upright than the V11 Spineframe bikes. The power is off the charts no doubt. The styling is an acquired taste.
