  1. electronics? A bike that shows time & temperature & date? coolant temperature? miles per gallon? miles until fill up? Sport, Touring and Urban mode?, ABS Setting? Traction control setting? Miles odo, Trip 1 and 2? Gear? Fuel level (didn't know how to find it until I wrote this)? Trip time? Lap time? Average Speed? Several separate and various maintenance & service warnings? PIN code? Lights? ABS lights? Other unknown lights? Menus for dash backlight, Modes to adjust for tire and gear ratio changes, and many more deals that can be done with a three buttons and multi screen? Oh and RPM and Speed too. Maybe 176 pages out of 320 pages of the owner's manual that gets as technical as unlatching the fairing and tupperware. That kind of electronics? really
  2. Wait a minute..... that bike looks "different". Someone is trying to put something over on us.
  3. "Because the engine convinces even in the very low speed range with unimaginable sophistication, thanks to well-tuned electronics can also be untertourig "noodled" and then offers just from around 3500 to 7000 tours not only a reasonable punch but also pleased with a really robust sound." "
  4. yeah Swoosh, probably bid over the ask.
  5. I am guessing it's a late model small block with the BRAT treatment.
  6. the valve cover gaskets leak on mine all the time. I blame the mechanic. (in fact, I try to carry a spare when I travel)
  7. what about a weak regulator? (spit balling it)
  8. Looks like we worked it out. We intend to get Duc Island tickets in T1 (includes lunch, parking, zip line, swag, pace lap for my Duc). That's a $30-50 premium over seat + parking. Consider there's no food or drink allowed and the prices for concessions are through the moon- ready parking to the bike stash is worth it alone. For now, Mike in Austin, Darren and I will be in Duc Isl. Darren and I are staying at the Rodeway, the only cheap motel in town (BTW- stay away from Motel 6).
  9. Who in the hell is Roger and what is a star-picket? Man, if you can't speak Amuricun at least speak English.
  10. Pete, that's a little unclear. I'd like your unvarnished opinion about it. Don't hold back,
  11. I may divorce Darren over this.
  12. Paul, I am with you, T1 is best. The issue is whether Darren will go to Ducati Island or if we go to the remaining seats in T1 on our own but he doesn't want to pay for parking. But for a few more bux, Duc Island gets you T1 seats, close parking, swag, pit walk, zip line, lunch and pace lap. it's just hard for me to pass that up. In past years, I had T1 all to myself -which was our original plan. He's good to park down the hill behind T15 and walk to T1, BTDT, nope. Told him that Burgers are $15, turkey legs $22 and beer is $12. And you can't bring food and drink inside (dirty bastards). Marquez is the whole reason I haven't been back in the last couple of years.
  13. The PO put a PC on mine. Runs good, never pings
  14. the deal is Paul, if I sit in Turn 1, I am not going to park a mile and half away and climb up the hill in the general parking area. BTDT. I'd be interested in your views of T15 vs T1. Personally I think the best views are T1 or the Hairpin leading to the back straight (T11). But the Hairpin has no TV and is only Gen Adm (no stands).
  15. Darren my riding buddy and I have been arguing about seating. I like Turn 1 and Ducati Island has taken it over. Seems like DI has best value. He doesn't want to park his Griso or Yamaha or Beemer (whatever he rides) there.
  16. Nice try, no cigar. More elevation means richer mixture. In your normally aspirated airplane, you have to keep leaning the mixture as you climb. doooooh ! (it was early when I wrote that and I was contemplating taking off the bodywork on the Duc, I was totally distracted and not myself) (the dog ate my homework too)
  17. more elevation = less oxygen = lean mixture = detonation Then consider steep grades and more strain on the engine. Having said that, I have no idea why the gasoline octane content is lower in the Rockies. So I could be wrong.
  18. Ducati Super Sport 939 I'll probably ride it to COTA. Doesn't sound as good as the Sport, the styling is a close call but I still think the Greenie is best looking. The SS is 80lb lighter and has 110 horses and revs to 10k
  19. This is my new ride.
  20. LAG- I plan to be there. I might not be on a Guzzi. If you get an ST4, Ducati has a huge deal there. I'll be staying at the Rodeway North (Hwy 290). Cheapest dive in town (Guzzi content). Sticking around to ride the hill country for a few days too. So I count 6 on various Guzzi boards and perhaps a few more riders I know. I might wear my Rossi shirt.
  21. Too much ignition timing vs compression, lean mixture, heat, octane and altitude.
  22. I big ratchet with a vacuum cleaner tube makes a nice breaker bar. At least it works when I drain the water heater on my travel trailer.
  23. You might talk to a local shop that does cylinder head port work and port matching. I was talking to one of Chuck's friends from Chicago (whose name escapes me) that had a hot rod Loop. He mentioned he took it to a shop that did a lot of hot rod stuff.
  24. That's interesting, I rode the Scura up and didn't get to bring it into Ducati Island...I presume this is a benefit then only for the corner workers, not the general populace? Hard to see who is going to dethrone Marquez....he's the King of COTA! looks like Darren will be coming with me on the Griso. We're planning to do the Sisters following week. Already contact Austin Mike. Are you headed there Paul?
