It is, Sir. Something I coined, perhaps, to console my restless spirit that I never get rid of anything, and soldier on with my trusted and known elements ad infinitum. Five days ago, August first, I have owned the Sport eighteen years. Twenty-six with the GB500 Honda . . . good deal Docc. I like to hold on to vehicles too. It's hard for me to purchase or replace. In your case it looks like a much longer commitment.
  4. ..........mine has had a cracked tranny and a leaking front seal and timing cover gasket.
  5. It'll drip on the ground on the left side when the sidestand is down and over the pipe. You can search the whole mess on the board, photos and all.

  7. It's on Rt 66 ..... Pop's
  8. Got a link or more info on where to procure that ? I'd like to do that on my greenie when the clutch gets fixed. Thx Vt4L Contact Don at Motiv in OKC http://www.motivcycleworks.com Don't wait for the clutch to wear out. That might be 100k+ miles. The gearbox case will be cracked at about 35k miles (if you ride like I do).
  9. No help on the ECU but if your bike doesn't have the transmission brace on it, this might be a good time to get and install one. Said brace will prevent a cracked transmission case for red frame bikes.
  10. But the book says that cold weather won't discharge an Odyssey. The big problem is that big V twin needs lots of cranking amps. My 4 cylinder needs little kick but when that battery is gone it's like an on/off switch. No slow cranking, it's just dead.
  11. geees, I better read the book with the battery? I am talking a barely mini amp $5 harbor freight. Update: book says 2 amp trickle charge. I'd think the HF would do no more than that. Also might explain why I didn't get a boost by jumping and suspected the starter?
  12. I went to ride and again, got no start, just a ratatatatata....... So I install the new starter and ratatatatata. S'ok, I got a new battery. I noticed the old battery had a little depression under the cellophane decal that lists disclaimers/instructions. New one started right up. I will say the new starter gives a little hiss when you wind it up. No, it doesn't sound like Mopar starter, more a high pitched ccsszzzzzz rather and wananana whine. I put the the trickle charger on it. Probably will get it out tomorrow. I have a spare starter and a new battery.
  13. Looks like the same TPS from California Cycle Works in USA
  14. Those guys look like bad moth.. SHUT YOUR MOUTH ....jus' talkin' about Shaft Guzzi Gods
  15. I removed the new bolt to put grease on it. Too late, there was enough leftover grease on the threads to have done the job for me.
  16. I noticed the remaining bolt had quite a bit of grease on it. I guess I need to apply some to the new one now.
  17. whoaaa... You're telling my that those bolts are major grounds? And I've had all these electrical issues? hmmmmm OK Docc, you've succeeded to make me feel even dumber .
  18. ground through? As in vibration? Perhaps shook the bolt out? I was thinking it was probably due to some of the maintenance performed previously on the bike as if someone neglected to properly install the starter bolts.,,,but I dunno.
  19. One of the deals that I received from my little vacation seeing the Dead & Co was a free stream of the concerts from Nugs. Unfortunately this isn't an MP3 or WMA but a download on the Nugs Ap on my phone. So I actually got three different concerts downloaded to my phone. I was able to barcode my ticket from the Boulder show but it didn't work for the Albuquerque show, show they e-mailed a code. So, I get the code and it's another show in California, so they send me a third code for Albuquerque show. So I can bluetooth the music from my phone to my car or stereo (from a 3.5mm aux input bluetooth dongle). Anyway, the quality it is still great. I now have 6 Dead & Co concerts, 5 I've attended in the past + a bonus. The last three were "free" if you will but not copyable.
  20. wow. Dumber and dumber. I got the new starter today. My plan was to install it and maybe troubleshoot the old one. I figured for $67 for a new one, I didn't see much downside. The new one looks great BTW. Anyway, I went to take off the old starter and noticed that the top installation bolt was missing and the bottom bolt was loose. I went to Ace Hardware and got a new bolt. I secured the old starter and it started fine. Now I have an extra starter. Think I'll keep it rather than hassle with returning it. I have a new starter if anyone needs it.
  21. The new starter should shipped here for receipt by Monday (free shipping BTW). It's crossed part # to Guzzi #. So I'll cross my fingers. I'll take a shot at servicing the old one. I'm really not riding now due to the heat. I should go back to the mountains.
  22. I haven't a clue Chuck. I might take it apart and clean it up. It's been hesitant to start and needed to be jumped a couple of times lately. I assumed it was the battery. And now this. I ordered a new starter for $67. So I won't have anything to lose by screwing with it.
  23. Dang it, Fubar. I hit it with a hammer and the dang thing started. But it seems like I have to smack the thing anytime I want to start it.
