  1. if this guy ever came to Okla, someone would horsewhip 'em. not necessarily a Guzzi guy either, he'd slip up and get slapped for the general welfare. he's just a deviant. a sociopath.
  2. You ride your bike, I'll ride my bike.
  3. Darren really has nothing nice to say about his gen 1 Thruxton. He has a half dozen bikes and I think that one is his least favorite (after he got rid of his Sportster). I am not sure why he still keeps it. He had a Breva Sport 1200 and traded it for a Stelvio that he totaled via deer. He wants to trade the Thruxton for devil version Griso. He's got a 900 Yamaha triple, an FJR, an enduro bike and a GS Beemer, perhaps some more. Sunday, he had the notion he wanted a Jackal to make into a rat bike. He rode my EV but had trouble with the heel shifter and very optimistic speedo. I rode his (previous generation) GS, nice handling and comfy, check engine light on and the most boring engine ever. I am not sure he thought much of my EV. And even though the EV probably is down 20HP, it's much more exciting to ride. The engine boosts right up with RPMs, the Beemer just drones. The water cooled Beemer is entirely different. Great engine. Still don't feel comfortable about the Tech $$.
  4. sorry, but I never really noticed any differences steering (or counter steering) a bike vs motorcycle. why would it be different once you're up to speed?
  5. I think you nailed it FG.
  6. Perhaps a rider should learn to ride a bicycle first? Once you learn to ride one you never forget.
  7. I've been through 3 TPS on my EV, some days it will still cough through throttle range. Some days it will be smooth as glass. Most days it will do both. I would only mess with it when Docc does his voodoo dance. That california cycle works sells aftermarket TPS. They're about $80. Doesn't include the voodoo dance.
  8. man, that took too many tries get right.
  9. about 4 lb dressed
  10. whooa 150? That's moving it on the banks.
  11. ......and those bikes use electrical fuel pumps? And Chuck wants to know how much the henway.
  12. henway.. I dunno, maybe 4 pounds?
  13. PA- I think it's the same generic pump that all the auto stores sell. I don't know why MGC is selling them $20 less than anyone else. Perhaps it's a typo or overstock? Most of these pumps I've seen cost about $75 at the local auto parts store, the trick is to find the cross reference from Guzzi to generic. BTW- the "Guzzi" pump lists for $350. If you look at the part numbers, they go on everything from Ducatis to Jaguars. I think my local mechanic says he found it listed for 1961 Peerless. I have no idea what a Peerless even is. Car? Truck? Train? Aircraft? Cruise missile?
  14. Give me a buzz when you get to OKC. I would avoid the worst of summer (the last two weeks of July - first two weeks of August). There are more days to ride in January than during those four weeks I usually head to Colorado then.
  15. http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=2491 $57 from MG Cycles, Scud posted it on the compatible parts thread
  16. I got about 30k out of mine.
  17. '68 Charger. Is it a 383? Torque Flight?
  18. I ran a 100 wt H4 for many years on my Bandit, It got so hot that it put a brown spot in the lens. I was afraid to put 100 watt on my Guzzis, worried about stress on the alternator, wiring and connectors. Now I am running cool running, low draw LEDs on all of them.
  19. GILL- order from Pyro Dan, He's inexpensive and has good quality. You can get the whole mess for $20 or so. About 1/3 the cost of auto parts store. Then keep an old one for a spare, along with your traveling patch kit and fuses.. http://www.dpguzzi.com
  20. sounds like grabby brakes. I wonder if less aggressive pads would've helped? Now I know why they have ABS. My Sport has is a little too aggressive on the rear. Sometimes I have to be careful.
  21. KTM built a Touring version called the 990 SM T I saw one at the Paonia rally last year and it seems like a pretty nice machine.
  22. I use the EBC HH pads too.
  23. So if this is a 90 degree Vtwin longitudinal crank, why isn't it predecessor to the original V7?
  24. Rolf sounds like a great guy. A transmission swap out would be quick and less risky. For example, when my transmission cracked, the housing was put in a powder coating oven for a week before is was welded. So far it's held together. The only thing I might add, since your bike is an '01 model, I am guessing it has the same frame as the redframe? If so, I would definitely install the transmission brace to keep it from cracking again. The mechanic that fixed my bike has fabricated a few kits with the bracket and fastener and has sold several. This attaches the bellhousing to the frame. The later model bikes have an upgraded frame that doesn't need the bracket. I am not sure about the Mandello model. If you need the brace, here is the website. http://www.motivcycleworks.com
