Handling on a V11 is a lot like horsepower, it has more of both than I have nerve.

So, this unit came today. Twelve days (including two weekends and a US holiday) from China. The unit was packaged very well and looks to be very high quality. The driver is integrated with the plug, so it is indeed a plug in unit. Just a matter of grooming the wiring and small driver in the bucket. There is ~10-11 mm (3/8") behind the fan outlet/ heat sink housing. I'm pleased with that (so far!) Mine just came in the mail today. I'll install it when the weather warms up and be sure to be careful to re aim it.

Chuck, I learned that the discount is for anyone on a motorcycle that stays for more than two nights. *****I guess that we aren't so special***** (I understand that you did get a 15% discount.) Of course I did not block a group of rooms because I had no idea the number of folks coming. Thanks for bringing this up. Let me advise: 1. Ask for 15% discount for the room rate if you're bringing a motorcycle. 2. If there's any confusion, ask for Sandy. Since many of you have not met me, the terms "organization" and "responsibility" don't associate with me. Hope this helps.

As indicated elsewhere, this isn't a "rally" in the sense that it's organized or affiliated with this site or insured or having t shirts or anything more than just showing up on your own and seeing who's there. Since there were interests on Wild from guys that don't own Spineframes, nor Guzis for that matter, I just left it open and called this a generic "rally". It's pointed out that "rally" might imply some type of organization. Since many of you have not met me, the terms "organization" and "responsibility" don't associate with me. This is just a deal about folks coming together in Harrison Ark on a particular weekend with a common interest to ride motorcycles (or not). Mention that we're part of the motorcycle group and get a hotel discount.

terje As I understand it, the redframes aren't prone to breaking the shifter spring- only cracking the transmission case. After tearing your bike and tranny apart and welding the crack in the case, you'll have a great opportunity to install a new shifter spring. I guess it's pick your poison.

yep, my advice, when you get a replacement cut at the glass shop, get two.

You can get the glass cut at any glass shop. (Don't ask me why I know) In fact I have a spare. Just in case I might have needed it (again).

So I am listening to Dead & Co show I saw in Dallas in Dec. And it occurred to me that my Grandparents loved Lawrence Welk. Hell, the local PBS station plays ol' Lawrence Saturday evenings. So I'll be 64 this year. So here's my question of horror: Are the Dead just my version of Lawrence Welk? It ain't so horrible, I might be going to hell in a bucket but at least I am enjoying the ride.

I went to Cycle Gear today to get all the lubes to service the EV and Sport. The bill was $111(!). I got Belray 80wt gear oil for the EV. I had to open the "V Twin ShockProof" to see that it was the red stuff. Of course I had go to several bike stores to kick tires and to "shop" for oil. One of the shops took over the Suzuki business after local guy Gerald decided to quit the franchise. I usually bought Suzuki mineral oil 10-40 for my Bandit. I was always able to get it from Gerald for $20 a gallon. The new shop had it priced at $81 pre tax! Holy Mary Mother! (Sorry, not raised in that faith.) The Ducati shop was still not talking to me about the SS, the two bikes have been sitting there since Labor Day. Told them how nice the guy was in Dallas letting me test drive one. I was looking for some new bar end mirrors for the Sport but no close outs so that was that. They had a used Super Duke KTM GT 1299, bags and windshield but it was $16k used (it was new for $20k+ at the KTM store). I bet it's a total monster. Got up to 55 today. Should be riding but still too cold to service. Funny, you can ride in nice weather but you need warmer weather to work on them.

Donnie, ex at the Kinect Playground, mentioned the newer valve cover gaskets on his Griso. Much better than the leakers I've used. At the time, I wasn't sure they were interchangeable. If had only known....

You'll know it if you overfill the rear end....... You'll have a trail of gear oil behind you and then a gusher when unscrew the overflow! It's like Jed Clampett. I think the simple thing is to fill it. Once it starts to overflow, just put a rag under it and grab a beer. Comeback and and screw in the plug. It's science.

interesting read. I had no idea that the crossover made such a difference, the Mistral boosting low end and Stuchi the top end. Seems that the POs of both my Guzzis (EV and Sport) installed after market crossovers. I just assumed it was done because the factory POS cracked or maybe because of hesitation with the throttle. I had no idea they were big performance enhancers nor that one affects power in a different range than another. With all the speculation about different cams, it looks like a crossover might be pretty important by comparison.

Laproaig is stout stuff. I like it a lot. You might be surprised that Teacher's has a similar strong smoky flavor at 1/3 the cost. -
the book calls for liquid molly additive for the rear end. (I'd have to look up the volume amount, sorry)

I am not sure why you need to go past 8k, the power levels off at 7k. Now sure, a new cam might rev it a little more but it appears that you can go to 8k if you can make power up there. I'd be surprised that any street cam would exceed 8k in power range.

My sons gave me Johnny Walker Blue for Christmas. It's very smooth, perhaps bland. A surprise, a divorced in-law to a niece was grateful for our Christmas hospitality and he gave me a bottle of triple cask Auchentoshan (had to google the spelling). Very nice stuff. So we did a tasting of those plus Macallan, Glenmorangie, and Johnny Double Black. I'd rate the 12 year Macallan tops. And I have bottle of johnny Green that I forgot to include. Of course, I might've gotten it wrong and will have to reevaluate. Prolly should include the Green. In the meantime, I'll swill some Teachers with some water and save the good stuff neat. -
I was looking at this cam upgrade business and came across HMB cams in Germany mentioned on Wild Guzzi. I googled HMB and their upgraded cam was worth like 3 HP. On some of the other older Guzzi models gained up to 10 HP. http://hmb-guzzi.de/Engine-Tuning-Repair My guess is that the cam has to be matched with porting and titanium pushrods + ECU map to get a little bit more. In all honesty my V11 seems to have pretty solid performance in the sweet spot 4-6k range for a Guzzi. I wasn't knocked out with Norge/Griso 1200 8v except for a little more top end. The1400 seemed to run good for a 750 lb motorcycle. Sometimes there is no replacement for displacement? But if we're saying cam+porting is good for 5 or 6 HP, then I wonder if it's worth the effort. The V11 is rated at 90 (optimistic) HP? With maybe 75 at the rear wheels but with a good torque curve.

I wonder if the Griso 12 has more beans than V11 engine?
