my opinion is that I like the Dunlops on my Sport. But I used to ride Dunlops on my Bandit until one of the replacement series lasted half as much as the previous Dunlop. After that I didn't use Dunlops until I had a flat on my newly acquired Sport. The Dunlop was the only tire available and worked well. I put a set of Michelins on the Sport (like I run on my Bandit) and was disappointed that the rear was shot at half the expected distance (deja vu all over again) so I did a reverse switch and went back to Dunlops.

Not sure why you were naughty and not allowed to post a photo. Semi-synthetic motorcycle oil or full synthetic car oil? Hmmm... interestingly motorcycle oils are typically designed for gearbox and/or clutch, neither of which are an issue with the MG. Which makes the MG engine oil requirements more like a... car. The alphabet soup: API SERVICE: Exceeds API SG JASO (T903): JASO MA-2 VISCOSITY: SAE 10W-30 // 10W-40 // 20W-40 // 20W-50 JASO (T903): JASO FB

MT- if you wallet has anything to do with it, I would bet you'll run the Dunlops.

for better or worse, I run this. I costs somewhere from $25-$30 a gallon, Castrol Actevo 20-50 Motorcycle part synthetic oil. Which I am not allowed to post a photo of the bottle.

I admit to being "somewhat" heavier than Scud but I will tell ya that the Sport suspension is firm enough that sport riding on bumpy roads can get me in trouble. I am going to play with air pressures when I haul my Jr Bags up the interstate on Labor Day (I am thinking 42 lb rear and 28 front) to keep it from "weaaaavinnggggg".

my tank can be removed and reinstalled without being toughly muscled. But the nose of the tank gets some rash due to full lock on the bars (a little more prone on the left side).

Dave, you can get a new fuel level indicator from Harpers. The cost has come down considerably. I replaced mine on the EV (thanks to a ham fisted mechanic- not me- that plugged it into the electric petcock) (hint" removed the electric petcock fuse if you still have one). The one thing I noticed it's a little more sensitive and comes on about 15 miles earlier than the old one.

I have had PR4 and RoadSmart (not sure the number). They both handle about the same. Michelins take a little time to warm up. The PR4 rear didn't last very long on my Sport but is holding up OK on my Bandit. Really, it comes down to cost, so the Dunlop is the clear winner in my book (for the V11). Not sure about the Bandit though.

Labor Day Sunday is the Mile Flat Track at Springfield Ill. I've been to the race a couple of times and heading back this year. It's the most exciting motorcycle racing on the planet. A few of us on Wild Guzzi are heading back this year. The deal I am in is at the Doubletree Hotel. For $215, you get a room for 2, 2 tickets to the race and 2 T-shirts. Unfortunately I am sharing a room with local guy Darren rather than my usual roommates, Kristen Stewart and her girlfriends. But Darren is a much better riding buddy than Kristen (too many stops to check her make up) and we'll be buzzing through the Ozarks on the way. So I guess Darren is the best roommate. Anyway, if you're free on Labor Day, you couldn't do better, even if you don't get the Doubletree deal. (my photos from 2 years ago)

I posted a little about Jack for you bass guys Chuck (and Docc).....don't know if you agree with my point about Jack playing it like a guitar? So far as STFU, lately it's the twenty-something gals that yell each other non stop why the band is playing at volume louder than the PA. Like I said to the guy next to me at the Dead show that was pissed about it, I said "well at least the sound system is so much better than 40 years ago". Regarding Jorma and Jack playing with TTB, I really wanted to hear an Airplane tune with Susan singing Grace's part, like "White Rabbit" or "Somebody to Love". But it was good seeing them do that James Brown thing. Right now I've run out of shows to see. Any good bands coming through that I might see? My future travels are the eclipse in KC and the Mile at Springfield Ill. No music.

it's always good to have a spare

Paul Tim, Grant to G'town with a little spitting rain on the country road and the max speed limit is about 10-35 mph. Luckily I met the sheriff or forest guys (whoever the LEOs were) going in the opposite direction both coming and going. I have friends that live up the road in Bailey on Hwy 285 which I refer to that road as a "Death Cult".

The Wheels of Soul. This is from the 2nd show. I saw them play "I love you, Yes, I do" the day before. But his will give you a good feel. This is Tedeschi Trucks Band + Hot Tuna (aka, Jack Casady & Jorma Kaukonen, aka, bass & guitar for Jefferson Airplane) at Red Rocks. I took no photos. The folks I attended the show couldn't navigate the steps to get closer to the stage, so I got a great view of the amphitheater and Denver but not so much of the band. First time I'd ever seen Jack & Jorma. Jack plays his bass ('60s style) in the upper ranges and makes the theater buzz with his bass, no subwoofer needed. Is there a better band on the planet than TTB? Clearly there isn't. Red Rocks was packed. Besides Hot Tuna, the local band Wood Bros played. They're a "roots" group. Both bands did a number with TTB -Wheels of Soul Tour. Don't miss TTB.

Bev and I are bumming it in the RV in Colorado getting out of the heat. Decided to take the EV and Sport to the "Top of the Rockies" at Paonia Co. Anyway the band Saturday night was KG and the Girls. They are a rocking power trio, young and easy on the eyes that seemed to combine the styles of Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray & Zeppelin. These gals were in the finals at the Memphis Blues Competition and have been acclaimed is many blues publications.

Dave, order a Greenie shirt and then we can verify the instructions.

Of course, but I think i'll manage fine heck,I'd even provide the relays (one spare will do you on the road).

Poor guy. You have to ride all that way? Through mountains and vistas in Europe in September? I'd be willing to deliver it for ya and save you the misery. I'd probably not charge too much for the service. Just sayin'. Call me if you need me.

I didn't think of the back and forth DOF. But is this axis a problem? The engine pulses in another plane, and the wear we see on the splines surely comes from the radial rattle. Back and forth would be axial. Anyhow, I see a good chance that holding in the clutch at stops in 1st gear or at other occasions isn't really that bad, maybe more weal than woe even. Really bad for the clutch and the splines is probably being hard on the throttle at lower revs, let's say below 3 or maybe 4k. And then, Docc's V11 has seen some miles, why should the parts look as new? The usual life span of a motorcycle is below 50.000, everything above is a bonus for the owner and lost profit for the manufacturer. See it this way. I expected my flywheel to look much worse at 99,000 miles. I did not expect the input hub to look so bad, but no one expected it to come completely loose, either. (That was certainly my increasing idle rattle noise.) While I am not one to run the Sport below 4,000 RPM, I am admittedly often hard on the throttle and downshifting/ rev-matching, then hard on it right back up again. "Hell-on-wheels!" . . . and tires . . . and brakes . . . and clutches . . . So long as you're rev matching when shift, I would think that would take the shock of out of shifting and be easy on the drive train. I would think strong throttle, so long as you stay smooth, shouldn't be an issue. (Of course this is said by the guy that cracked his transmission case.)

BB- Your computer must show different colors than mine. The Green Acid color looks yellow. Colors that seem closest for Greenie are 1) Bright Green 2) Bright Green 3) Silver 4) Apple Red I wish someone would order one in green and get it sorted out. But I didn't see your Scura listed as available, only the V11 Lemans. Confused. And you have red wires and gold forks?
