  1. Does look sweet, no mirrors or just hidden behind the fairing? And I wonder if that's a difficult adaption to a V11.

    Mg V11 Fra siden 2

Nice! So clean and shiny and fast looking
  3. I have a 2000 that is missing its seat cowl, never had one from since I bought it. I think I have a line on one but it's from a 2004. Anybody know if these are interchangeable?
  4. Back when I got my first Goose, I was working with a guy that really wanted a Guzzi bad. This was in '82 and at the time I had already gone through several Jap bikes plus a BMW R69S. I wasn't familiar with Guzzi's and was looking at getting another beemer. Well, the work buddy shows up Monday morning with a BMW and damned if it wasn't the bike I was considering. Couldn't be seen on the same bike as this guy and so as I perused the used bike section in the Recycler I happened upon a '70 Ambo. Went out and looked at it, cheap enough for $750, ugly as hell because the original owner had parked it in his carport and when things started oxidizing, he sprayed every painted surface flat black and anything silver flat silver. UGLY UGLY UGLY. But I did take it out for a ride and was hooked, haven't owned any other bike manufacture since. The V11 is the first "modern" Guzzi I've owned, the latest before that was a '78 LeMans. And the guy I worked with, saw him several years after we had gone our separate ways and he was on a Convert. A Guzzi gets under your skin and stays there.
  5. Finally got out yesterday for a real ride and it was a hoot. Long time coming and thoroughly enjoyable, I took a quick 60 mile loop around the Rogue Valley. The 2000 V11 handled so much nicer then any of my past Guzzi's by far with great acceleration and line holding stickiness. The day was beautiful and even through my full brain bucket I could hear the gentle throbbing of the Stuchci pipes, music to my ears. I had a few senior moments where, due to my past history on older Guzzi's, I would shift down instead of up. Oops, gonna have to relearn shift patterns. Was having some trouble shifting 3rd and 4th, they just required an extra kick to set into gear. Maybe with a few more miles things will settle in since the bike has been sitting for a bit. Looking forward to more rides but getting ready for a fishing trip to Alaska so for now she's parked and cleaned and awaiting the open road again.
  6. Ha!!! Never saw this one coming, I was just checking things here and there and noticed I had a 15 amp fuse blown. The symbol on the fuse box shows high / low headlights. I replaced it and tried starting... BAM, she starts! Why would a blown headlamp fuse effect the starter?
  7. Tried checking the battery voltage when hitting the starter button, stays at 12.33 I'll run it over to Interstate Batteries tomorrow since it's their battery and if bad, maybe I'll get prorated.
  8. Battery output is 12.49 volts, not sure what the amperage is. I sent an email to Dan at dpguzzi to see about getting a set of replacement relays just the same. Thanks all, still not out of the driveway but I can almost see the scenery rushing past.
  9. Well, for $hits and giggles I went to the DMV today in Medford and actually arrived at the window of a helpful, knowledgeable person. They looked at all the paperwork that I had, including shop repair receipts, email contact between myself and the previous owner, my original Oregon DMV application from 1/13, and the Title Transfer document that was signed and notarized by the former owner. After going over it and making copies, she asked for $144 and gave me a temporary registration. It now has to go to Salem where they will review the paperwork but based upon the amount of time I've had the bike and my commitment to repair and make rideable she thinks I have a good chance of getting formal title. She said they will also do a vin search to make sure it hadn't been stolen but I did one about 2 months ago and it came back clean, that was the one paper I didn't have in the folder. So there you have it, this story may have a happy ending. Now I just need to get her running again, when I go to start I just hear a single "click". I've checked and charged the battery but suspect it needs a new relay, just not sure, electrical has never been my forte'.
  10. Is buying a Guzzi ever a mistake? One would think not. I've owned 5 or 6, all early models, been riding a goose in one form or another since 1982. But now comes the sad story: It was a dark stormy night just like this… A couple of years ago, I got bit by the bug again and wanted another Guzzi. Hung on this board and read a lot, and then pulled the trigger on a 2000 V11 Sport down in SF for a song. It had been sitting and the guy selling only had a Transfer of Title for California, signed and notarized, but no pink. THIS IS WHERE IT GOT UGLY. Dumped a couple of grand at Werkstatt, also in the bay area, before having it shipped here to So Oregon where there is no local Guzzi support. Well, turned out I couldn't register the bike with the paperwork I had, I got hold of the guy on the registration and the guy had promised to be helpful, that we were like family, blah blah blah. He turned out not to be helpful in the least, a flake is a good term though I'm being real nice in calling him that. He now won't return calls, emails or text and I'm not sure how or if I offended him somehow. I've had even offered to sell him back the bike at a loss because he missed it so. Yea, I'm a nice guy but this shows nice guys finish last. Plain and simple, after dealing with this guy for almost a year a half I give up. I'm selling this bike, untitled, unlicensed, and now not running. Pretty sure the not running is a relay, it clicks when I go to start it and I've dumped enough into the bike already so screw it, time to cut my loses. A more detailed explination: I purchased the bike from a guy who took it in as he was owed money from the owner. Apparently the owner signed this Transfer of Title because he LOST the pink slip. I tried to register the bike here in Oregon and they said no way. it's a California form. I talked to them in Ca. and they said no way, the bike was never registered here. That's when I got hold of the owner, who was or is a nice enough guy, and found out the LOST pink was from Colorado. He supposedly sent in a Title Replacement request but that's when I stopped hearing back from him. I've now dug deeper into registration and can get it registered here in Oregon with a "bonded title" (salvage), all I need is a notarized bill of sale. BUT THE GUY WON'T GET BACK TO ME!!! And he's now living in Arkansas, working at the Clinton Library. Don't know what else to do.

Obviously parting it out will be best for my pocket but I really hate tearing into a beautiful bike like this. I have the seat, 2 actually, and an extra set of tires, the ones mounted have never even seen pavement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now looks like there is a possibility of me getting it registered, if not then I will address this post again, long with price and more details. Thanks all.
  12. Saw this while doing a search today: For the first time ever, a Moto Guzzi motorcycle has been crowned “Best of the Best? by the Robb Report. The US magazine, for 37 years the world’s leading luxury-lifestyle magazine, is to include the California1400 Custom, the new motorbike just introduced by Moto Guzzi in its “Best of the Best” Luxury Portfolio for 2013. Published in twelve international editions, for 25 years every June the Robb Report has presented its “Best of the Best” special issue, which, say the magazine’s publishers, is the “the culmination of an entire year’s search for the most extraordinary new products and services”. The issue spans premier-quality world production in six categories: “Wheels”, “Journeys”, “Style”, “Leisure”, “Home” and “Wings & Water”. In the 2013 “Best of the Best” issue, the Robb Report pays tribute to the technology, style and irresistible appeal of the new Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom, named as the top product in the “CruiserMotorcycles” category.
  13. I tried contacting this guy but don't think he wants to deal with boxing and shipping so he didn't get back to me. There is a shop stand on CL in the bay area and unfortunately I'm down in L.A. for another month. Anybody feel like picking this up and shipping it down to me? Recommendations on someone that can?
  14. Looks like it could be a very good deal but if you decide to buy and part it out I've got a shopping list for my 2K Sport!
  15. Nice, goes to show - once a Guzzi Guy always a Guzzi Guy! Read his book a while back about his trip around the world and while he didn't make it sound as nimble as an ox cart on cobblestone he did have a goose way back when... an Ambo?
  16. Is there a detailed list or sequence somewhere on how to drop it the 10 - 15 mm? There's about an inch of thread showing on the rear spring. And what special tools are required? The tires are Metzler Sportec M-1's 180 in back, 120 up front
  17. Got a Corbin Gunfighter just now and went to toss it on, didn't quite fit so that it would lock in the back but not that big of a deal as it really isn't any lower then my stock seat. Bummer. I guess I'll have to have my seat carved almost down to the pan to get my toes on the ground.
  18. Here's some shots of the bike (2000 Sport) as well as the gravel road just before the highway, definitely one to be traveled cautiously! And some things I'm looking for in case anyone has spare parts hanging around collecting dust: Front fender has a couple of cracks Oil cooler is zip tied, works but brackets with bushings and screws would be nice. Shop stand for the rear end. Tool kit for under seat. Bar end weights Gonna be out of town for a couple of months, worse comes to worse I can get these from MG when I return.
  19. Thanks Admin J, first I'll try the seat
  20. Got my bike the other day, 2000 V11 Sport, that I kinda rescued from a guy that had taken it as payment for money owed. He had let it sit for a while in a car port, semi exposed. Got it cheap, sent it to Werkstatt in SF, where the bike was from. Anyways, the shipper dropped it here the other day and I find it tall for my 5'5" body. I purchased a Corbin Gunfighter seat that some had recommended to bring me down a bit but I don't think it will be enough. I'm presently touching ground with one toe and the worst part is I have to travel 300 yards of gravel with the last 100 yards being about a 6% grade to get to the highway. Am I screwed? Do I need to break out a pair of disco boots or is there another way to get an inch or so off the height? Also, I noticed my rear shaft drive is exposed, is it supposed to be this way? The most modern Guzzi I've had to this point was a '78 Lemans so maybe things have changed a bit since then. Thanks
  21. Wow, sorry to hear your story, glad to hear you'll live to ride another day. I've always heard, for insurance purposes, the deer hit you. Nice to hear Progressive comes through when needed though you never really want to make the call. God speed on the recovery!
  22. Way to go and with spring starting to rear its head, may there be many more joyous rides ahead of you! My bike (2000 Sport) is supposed to finally be arriving this coming weekend, then I get to sort out a DMV nightmare, and then at last ride! In the meantime the riding lawn mower is all the excitement I've got... if only Guzzi made a mower
  23. I've never used this and am not into suits, plus I've got a two piece zip together from Langlitz so don't really need this. It's a size small, 52 on the tag whatever that means: basically I'm 5'5" and it fits me. If interested and want to make sure of the fit, I'll pull it back out and give the best measurements I can. THE ONLY THING WRONG IS THE MAIN ZIPPER PULL WAS MISSING. I have a wire in place to act as the pull - zipper works fine. $850 OBO This is a listing for this model suit on fleabay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DAINESE-AVRO-PRO-1-PIECE-MEN-SUIT-BLACK-BLACK-ANTHRACITE-SIZE-48-/250979288679#vi-content Give me a call if you have questions: 541-702-2185
  24. Thanks but I guess the folks over at Werkstatt were able to find an excellent used one for $70. Not bad pricing and it knocks one more thing off the list, almost ready for summer fun!
  25. Thanks. Talked to MG and they said order it from a dealer. I'm gonna have Werkstatt send the bike home without the switch installed and I guess that will be the first thing I'll have to deal with as in the long run it will probably be more cost effective for me to @#$$#! with it then someone that may be unfamiliar with how it goes in... if it's the right one.
