My 2001 V11 has been going through the same problems. Ride, stop, a short time later, try to start, stalls, let it cool, runs fine. I posted on this problem a few months ago. I had an interesting conversation with a tech at Harpers MG who said vapor lock can be a problem with our 2000-2001 V11s given the location of the fuel pump, right over the center of the motor. He said this problem was dealt with by Guzzi when they moved the fuel pump forward in the 2002+ V11s. He said he can send me the mounting clamps for the 2002 V11 fuel pumps and extended fuel line which would fix the problem. For what it is worth, my fuel pump is on the bottom of the backbone, with the filter on the top. Does any one have experience with this fix?

My 2001 V11 has started an occasional stall problem when idling. After running for a while, it will sometimes stall when coming to a stop. It may also be hesitating sometimes while on steady throttle (or this could be my paranoia!). I was thinking of starting with replacing the fuel filter for a start. Would appreciate any other opinions. Thanks

My 2001 1100 Sport has developed a leak from the rear drive. I pulled the wheel, ordered a kit from MG Cycle, isolated the leak (the main gasket, outside, and have attempted to remove it. I read somewhere that all I had to do was pry it off....well, it don't pry! Is there a trick to getting this simple gasket off so I don't have gear oil leaking on my rear wheel? Thanks

Replaced the tach on my 2001 V11 Sport with new one from Harpers. Old one would read above 5000 revs - new one had the exact same wiring and leads and slipped in easily. But, the tach now reads 4000 revs at idle (wrong!)! It seems to be 2000 revs above where it should be.do I need to recalibrate something here? It is a Veglia white face like the old one but the tach needle is orange not white. Any thoughts?

I recently replaced some very large, not pretty, bar end mirrors with CRG mirrors. They work great, fold in for tight places and look fantastic. However, given their light weight, my 01 V11 Sport has now developed very annoying handlebar buzz - no, more than buzz - numbing vibrations. I know it is the lack of weight that has brought this on. Would appreciate any ideas how to cut this down. I know our Guzzis vibrate through the bars but this is way too much. I love the way the CRG mirrors work and look and don't want to go back to the heavier ones. Any help will be appreciated. Vincez - Columbia, MD

OK, great looking "rider" - but, anybody know where I can get a fairing like that for my 2001 V11 Sport?

New helmet - flip-up?
Vincez replied to Paulsmartv11's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Bought my first modular a number of years ago when I was riding Harleys (yes, some do wear helmets). Loved it and didn't seem to have the noise, fit problems - HJC brand (made for Harley) Bought another modular HJC - in hi-viz green (almost matches my V11) and would highly recommend. The helmet was less than $300 US and has a workable sun visor, notched face shield and is very comfortable. One of the side latches broke and was fixed for no charge by the dealer. FWIW -
OK, I need a new (read more comfortable) seat for my V11. I've had good luck with Corbin before, especially with my 1990 900 Duc, but there seems to be "not so good" comments on this forum about Corbin for our Guzzis. I've called them and they don't have a seat for the 2001 V11 Sport but I've seen photos on the web of 2001's with Corbins. I guess the difference is the cowling for our 2001s. My question - can the Corbin made for the 2000 V11 fit the 2001 and what is the general impression of their seats for Guzzis? Thanks for any/all comments. Vince Z, Columbia, MD

Gio = thanks for the insights - one question, did you purchase the fairing directly from Magni? Or through a middleman? And how was that experience? Thanks

I am just about ready to "pull the trigger" and go for a Magni fairing for my V11 Sport. Before I make the final decision, would appreciate hearing from anybody out there re the purchase, quality, condition, and installation of the fairing. I've contacted Magni for pricing - looks like the kit plus shipping will be at least $1000 US - and they say they have the kits. Any info from you folks will help Thanks Vince Z

The tach on my beautiful 2001 V11 Sport seems to give up the ghost after 5500 rpm - it stops climbing about there and starts to hover, shifting brings it back to where it belongs and it is spot on under 5000. Anybody run into this problem and is there a fix (besides finding a new tach) Thanks Vincez

FWIW - when I went from a Harley Soft Tail to a 2001 V11 Sport, the riding position almost broke me! However, there is a company called Motobits that makes an excellent kit to relocate the pegs to a more "mature" position. And they work. If you search on the name you can find them - they are in the Seattle, Washington, US area. Enjoy your Sport

Two quick questions - Anybody know what shade of red is used on the frames of our V11s? Mine has some chipped paint on the "pork chops" and I want to touch it up. Before I start trying various colors, wanted to check with other owners. Question Two - removing that damned oil filter. After draining the oil, and removing a very tight plate, I cannot get any of my current oil filter wrenches to grip without slipping on the oil filter. Before I take it to my local dealer, just to remove the filter, would appreciate any tips anyone has on getting that slippery thing out of there! Thanks

One more question re the Magni fairings and the V11 - I've noticed the kit comes with handlebars - do they lower the position of the stock V11 Sport bars? If so, how much? Thanks Vince Z Columbia, MD USA

If this is still alive, count me in for for anything!

Folks - my 2001 V11 Sport came with all kinds of accessories (MG tank bag, rear rack, huge back pack) and all the mounting hardware for a set of Tekno saddle bags (with hardware). Problem is, I am not sure how to mount them. If anyone has a photo of mounted bags or instructions or soemthing that would help me do this right (the first time!), would appreciate the info. This bike is just too pretty to mess up (by the way, it is THAT green color - whatever that color is!) Thanks Vincez, Columbia, MD, USA
