Over on the Wildguzzi site, one of the regulars is considering selling his Nero Corsa. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=75798.0 I'd love to have a 2nd V11 (Scud ) but the subsequent divorce would be too costly!

Guys, After a long winter and much tinkering I got out for a good 6 hours riding today. That's the fun part. As I was turning into my road, almost home, I heard a 'clunk' when I used the brakes. Further investigation revealed that I had lost 1 of the bolts holding a front brake caliper on! As i said I was tinkering over the winter; must not have torqued it down correctly. Luckily nothing worse happened. Now I need an education; the bolts are M10 x 1.25 and are stamped with a code. What does the coding mean? I'm presuming they are strengthened to resist the shear forces involved with holding the calipers on. Another newbie question: the caliper bolts took a few applications of WD 40, waiting. Apply again. To break them free when I cleaned the calipers and pads. So should they be put back in place with Locktite, to ensure they stay in place. Or anti- seize to prevent the road crud locking everything together ? Thanks

Replacement Veglia or ITI Speedometers - Ducati?
nobleswood replied to Rhino1's topic in Technical Topics
Rhino, I'm late to answering this thread but if you still want a replacement to your ITI speedo, talk to Curtis at Harpers. He sold me a new speedo that dropped into place and even runs 5mph fast like my old speedo ! Mind you if this one dies an early death I'll probally go the Speedhut route. -
JB, Craig just bought the clip ons from my 2004 Naked that were never on. It sounds like he'll be able to make them work. Anyone who cosiders welding aluminium probally has enough skills to tackle mounting a fairing. The fairing reminds me of one of my first bikes; a Honda 400/4 F2, in the same colour as the picture

Bjorn, thanks for the link. GuzziMoto, what is the 'right' amount ? There was a thread back in 2008 with Rachethead/hack saying 100 mm was the sweet spot for an airgap .

Scud, Glad you're having fun ! It'll be a few months before I get out again thanks to the black ice in dark corners & road salt. Keep sending the pics. The bike looks great!

Bjorn, I'm hoping to get to service the forks on my bike soon so I was interested to see you dive into this oil change. I have a 2004 V11 Naked and started asking advice from the guys on the forum in http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18735&hl=%2Bfork+%2Boil&do=findComment&comment=200058 And you joined in at some point I see. My manual, which doesn't refer to the Ballabio at all, says 400cc of SAE10. Your manual gives different volumes for the Sport, 435cc and 452cc for yours. What is going to be the effect of the different volumes? And what airgap did you end up with ?

The temperatures dropping and my riding days are getting fewer and fewer. I find myself inside reading about working on V11's on this forum & Wildguzzi's forum. One of the better threads, probably cos the author adds lots of pictures and he has a great mentor, is http://tinyurl.com/md7tmdo Joe has been working on his 2002 V11 LeMans for most of this year & has tackled many issues on his bike. Worth having a look even if your bike is running well.

nobleswood replied to nobleswood's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Thanks Docc -
Nice example of a Ballabio http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Ballabio-Moto-Guzzi-V11-Ballabio-/181558429200?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a45b9c610&item=181558429200&pt=US_motorcycles Interesting description of how the model got it's name. Anyone know if it's accurate?

First time service on 43 mm Marzocchi forks
nobleswood replied to nobleswood's topic in Technical Topics
My intention initially is to clean out the forks, get the old oil and swarf from the tubes out & then start learning. To set them up for my weight and then get a sense of what the forks are like as the factory spec'ed them. I've heard a number of members, and Guzziology say the springs are too soft. The funds aren't available this year but I'm thinking next year that might be on the plans. While I'm calling around for parts & figuring out the old part numbers converted to Appilla numbers, the parts guy at MG Cycles said the 43 mm Marzocchi's also went on some of the Ducati Monsters. Has anyone had any luck using the ducati dealers for common parts? When Lisa at Moto International said the bushes were stocked in Italy and would take 3 - 4 weeks, I kept seeing $ signs. -
I'm after some advice here. My bike's a 2004 with the Marzocchi 43 mm forks. It's, as far as I can find out, never been serviced. It doesn't leave oil rings on the lower tube, seems abit harsh on crappy roads so thought I'd change the oil and if that makes it better before twiddling with the adjusters etc. Enlisted the help of a friend who has more experience with forks, as mine is zero. Now he's advising ' as we've opened them up we should change the bushes'. I can see replacing the seals, as they are cheap, but the bushes are around $80- + shipping. The full repair kit's $180. The bike's only done 8300 miles. I can't see that being necessary! Am I being too cheap? Once I've been shown how I intend to service the forks more often so I could get this done another time. What's you guys advice?

I'll have a look and see if I have my old one.

Sorry should have looked closer at your post. 2004 should be an ITI gauge.

There are a few different speedos for the V11's. What make is on yours ITT or Veglia? What years your bike?
-
Phil, Remind us newbies what's your experience at the Isle of Man? My brother was there this year for the Classic and had a great time. So we're trying to work out how we can both go next year.

That describes the front fairing mounting brackets that I bought from Harpers. The Scura mounting means the fairing doesn't turn with the bars it's mounted on an extension to the frame. What I purchased from Harpers mounted to the top triple clamp yet utilizes the Scura fairing. If you need help making this more confusing let me know!

Or, like on my bike, the bulbs came loose and need to be pushed back into the rubber bit .
