  1. Still use the same tie down strap, but you have more room all around it.
  2. $260 from PJ's Parts, including shipping, and if you're really nice you'll get some free aluminum 90º angle red anodized tire filler valves.
  3. I'm late to the discussion but in my opinion the best batteries are the Li ion batteries made by EarthX. I replaced my stock battery with one of theirs: it's smaller, weighs ten pounds less, has more amp hours and higher cold cranking amperage, and can be used with conventional chargers. They also have longer life, are guaranteed for three two years and are made in the USA. What's not to like?
  4. where are you located? in the US the best place to order parts from is harpermoto.com or mgcycle.com
  5. This looks like so much fun!

    Designing Custom Intakes

From the album: 2001 v11 SP

Intended to fit into the stock throttle body intake boots, to fit a 70mm pod filter.
  7. Yeah, I saw those specs in the manual as well docc. Roy, thank you, this is very helpful. You're right, I won't mess with the order of the components. I am going to use the Golan Mini Reusable fuel filter: http://www.golanproducts.com/filters.html It has a 10 micron cleanable screen and supposedly passes 6 gallon per minute, so shouldn't present any restriction on the pump. It's smaller too...
  8. Anyone know what the flow rate and operating pressure are on the stock fuel filter? Or what the flow rate and pressure demands are for the injection system in general? I am planning on relocating/replacing the stock filter, looking at some compact alternatives, all have different flow rates Looking at the workshop manual, it states that the injectors and pressure regulator are set to operate at 3bar, which comes out to around 43psi (doesn't really say what the flow rate is). Would 130gph @75 psi be sufficient? Or should I look at filters with more throughput? I see some that are specifically designed for car fuel systems that have flow rates up to 4000gph, I imagine that's probably much more than necessary. Associated question: does it matter if the filter is placed BEFORE the pump, as opposed to AFTER as it is now?

    Instrument Pod Support Bracket

    lol!
  10. Love all the work you've been doing, your bike is looking cherry. I am very much looking forward to the next update. You make me feel somewhat vindicated/less crazy for being ambitious about fixing/cleaning/restoring/modifying the crap out of my bike. Cheers!
  11. Wow! That is an epic thread. I love it, very inspirational and it's good to know that I'm not alone with my insanity...
  12. From the album: 2001 v11 SP

    3D printed sintered stainless steel.
  13. As per my conversation with Todd at Guzzi Tech, regarding the PC-V/AT: me: So in theory, with this box I can change my setup (exhaust, intake, etc.) and the fueling can be changed accordingly, and I can have a map for each setup? For example, I have removable baffles in my muffler. I could have one map for it with the baffles in for street use, and another map with the baffles out for track use? Todd: Even simpler… AutoTune will correct automatically for whatever changes you make (sometimes with a couple extra short rides & key strokes). I’ll help you through it. It’s amazing technology. me: so no need for dyno sessions either? Todd: Nope. me: Awesome. THAT alone is worth the price of admission. Although I am curious to know how much she actually puts out... Todd: Yes it is, and seeing numbers is fun (though often disappointing). (bold emphasis is mine) With all due respect to everyone on this board, I would go with Todd's opinions and expertise regarding fuel injection technology and how it relates to the power output of Moto Guzzi engines.
  14. Sure, I'm not arguing that the stock Guzzi setup is any good. What I'm saying is that if you are going to go to the trouble of building yourself a new exhaust system from scratch, it's a shame to lose the ability to plug in a sensor, especially when it's relatively easy to do comapred to the complexity of the overall build. That's all. I supposed it wouldn't be a big deal to add one later either.
  15. I found those BMC pod filters that Rossopuro was selling, Here they are, in case anyone is curious: http://www.bmcairfilters.com/search_c.aspx?param=FBPF&page=1&lng=1 The codes mean: L = left R = right C = center CT = carbon fiber top (as opposed to the metal top as shown in the photo above) They are pretty small, only 70mm long. So I ordered a set of these K&N pods which are a lot bigger: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=rx-5090 I have some silicone intake reducers to go from 70mm to 50mm. Might be a tight squeeze but I think they should fit. Fingers crossed...
  16. Very cool! Seems to me though that eliminating the sensor is kind of a loss. Would it be that hard to weld in a piece of M18 x 1.5 threaded tubing? My GPR has sensor bung. Which is where I am going to place a Bosch wide band O2 sensor to go with a Power Commander V with Auto Tune. I didn't have this on my stock '01 exhaust, which was one of the benefits for me of upgrading. Improving functionality, or in your case - retaining it, is always a good thing, in my opinion. EDIT: something like this – http://www.ebay.com/itm/M18-x-1-5-mm-Right-Hand-Threaded-Insert-Tube-Adaptor-/180555767232
  17. does you bike have an O2 sensor? if so, did you make a new bung for it?
  18. cool thing about the m-Unit is everything is run by relays so you don't have to send full power to your switch gear on the handle bars. makes it a lot easier to hide all your wiring.
  19. The m-Unit does look pretty awesome. If I was re-wiring a bike from the ground up I would definitely use one.
  20. Sent the image out to a couple people, I will report back if I have any success. In the meantime, I found these on the BMC site, might be a good option: http://www.bmcairfilters.com/conical-filters%2ftwin-air-filter/fbtw60-150_d258_5.aspx These have a 12º angle on the manifold... Roy - which K&N pods are you using?
  21. I would, if I knew what I was looking for. They makes dozens of products.
  22. Supposedly Rossopuro and Ghezzi Brian carry them but I'm leery of ordering from Italy. I might not get them till sometime next year.
  23. Hah!
  24. Does anyone know what the part number is for these BMC pods? I am 99.9% decided on going with pods instead of the air box. These ones are supposed to be a very good option. Any other options and suggestions greatly appreciated. PS: some well intentioned souls might be tempted to chime in with admonishments seeking to convince me not to go with pods. Please don't bother wasting my time and yours.
  25. no direct experience, but they are top quality, top notch (and top dollar.) all the big name hot shot builders use them. if they had a combo speedo/tach gauge like the one I got from speedhut I would have gone with them but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
