  3. @docc @martynz Thanks for the great advice and knowledge on the zinc levels and SG rated oil. I initially was introduced to the issue my Mike from Mike Rich Power Sports. After a really great discussion about valve seat issues he mentioned that you should run oil with good zinc levels. With the variety of oils, the confounding ratings, and the lack of transparency of their ingredients I've concluded that "the truth is what works"
  4. Thanks for chiming in. The info is very helpful. Looks like I have a spare 180 Rosso Diablo II when my 04 LeMans needs it. Which will be sometime...
  5. In reference to Lucas - I was eyeing this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009M64D8I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3FR59D7U77AZ7&coliid=I2THSQBP0SMV6H 20W50 Hot Rod Classic claims high zinc content. targeted at classic cars with flat tappet cams and as such only seems to come in regular and not synthetic

Where did you pick up those velocity stacks?
  7. Badness!! I want em! I just looked these up on Amazon - $400+ Can these be had for cheaper? Are they plug play or is there power and voltage stuff that needs to be adjusted?
  8. Ok another controversial topic. For 01 V11 Sport owners: I'm in need of new tires, what are the pros (if any) of using a 180 over the stock 170 spec tire? My tire change guy is totally against putting a larger tire on such a small wheel, arguing the tire will be pinched and the profile that results reduces the size of the contact patch - ultimately resulting terrible cornering. I'm inclined to believe him but he doesn't ride Guzzi's and has no experience with their tire performance etc. So I'd love to know where enthusiasts who experimented have experienced.
  9. Thanks for the info. I'll look into Redline for sure but it is a bit pricey though. Aside from using oil with already confirmed high zinc levels, has anyone simply added ZDDP to their oil change?
  10. Hi all, Apologies in advance for contributing to "dreaded oil" discussions. I could not find direct recs on ZDDP additives to an oil change. I'm planning on changing the oil on my 01 V11 Sport https://goo.gl/photos/pcTxsZ6cCuX6UGiM9. I understand using higher zinc content oils are required for V11s w/ flat tappet. However I live in California and I can't get shipped oils that have high zinc content such as Valvoline VR-1 20w50 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DJ4FIPQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3FR59D7U77AZ7&coliid=I39ES2J0LW74R0&psc=1 I was planning on adding ZDDP to the oil change https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LB9FFI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to Lucas 20w50 Full synthetic Is it ill advised to add ZDDP? Are there pros and cons to this approach? If this a good idea, how much ZDDP would be correct?
