also, the head mounted fairing brackets are easily bent. If it was laid down the bracket will be pushing the fairing tail up close to the tank. An easy repair would be to bend it back away from the tank... maybe it was bent to far??? The 'silent block' mount "nuts" are easily worn out and are cheap to replace. The difference in 'noise' between the two bikes could be the difference in clutch/flywheel assemblies.

I do: shop stand holding the rear, floor jack padded with wood and rubber pad under the motor, and ratchet straps on the upper tree -attached to rafters for balance and tipover prevention. Splay out the rafter attach points for security. Remove calipers and hang them safely out of the way First! With wheel and clipons off just loose the fork clamps and slip them out. I'd use shipping tubes for shipping, forks wrapped with Styrofoam sheet. Don't know where you'll find them for sale as singles. You'll want a decent torque wrench and values handy for reassembly.

You can find them reasonably priced or even cheap if you're willing to do the work with searching. I had a phase a dozen years and more ago and did well finding some. I would not/will not pay retail or the inflated collector/vintage prices. Back then CL was quite popular and doing national searches got me two very good condition Vanson for less than 200. ea. By posting an ebay search I got a practically unused Aerostich Roadcrafter 2piece for 400., and a cool vintage Yamaha brand leather racing jacket for 50. The boutique dealers are going to be pricey, it's only business. You'll just want to beat them to it. I also found that the dedicated Cafe Racer forums I used to frequent, had classifieds with nice, mostly vintage jackets often listed. You might even start a search with a 'wanted' in this forum's classifieds. Never know what might turn up.

I have Ohlins, so no knob like yours but I could easily get my fingers to that area reaching from the rear over the tire. Feels like there is maybe 20-30mm between the shock top and the airbox where your knob is, so not much room. If you have svelte little monkey hands it's doable. I don't know how stiff the adjuster is to turn but I'd maybe think about somehow enlarging the diameter of it for more leverage. I didn't pull the seat to see what access is from there. Possibly a little tool could be made
