  1. Welcome Ratso88 much fun ahead
  2. Psychology of a moto-enthusiast is a daring subject. As a life long rider I will say that I had ZERO interest in Guzzi until 2002 when I saw the Tenni in the flesh. At that moment I knew that all other mfg's had abandoned me. But they say love is a convergence of chemistry and timing, and the door of Zen opened wide for me. kensho - seeing into ones true nature. So yeah, ... I'm odd.
  3. Nice. I still have and use my old setup, all my old vinyl, and a collection given to me. I stream in the house but the shop gets the old setup. I still search online sellers for stuff that imo should only be listened to on vinyl. like....
  4. you've already given us the bonus points
  5. loved these guys in my "formative" years So ahead of their time. Rip Ian McDonald
  6. Loved it-- but you misspelled cluster****
  7. WTH?
  8. I don't know why anyone would hesitate to paint their motorcycle, .. green or otherwise. It's just a process like everything else. It is a multi stage paint but problems or difficulties are easily overcome with knowledge and experience. I suspect Gmc28's paint will 'nail it' and the only ones who'll know it's not factory are those reading this topic. Guzzi did it. It can't be that complicated.
  9. Daylight but not direct sun is always best to my eyes. I assume you'll have an original piece to compare to when you get a big enough sample? Were you going to try the formula that someone on the forum worked out awhile back, using House of Color I think? Seeing many photos of greenies and how they can look different, I can believe it won't be easy.
  10. I think that ad is very old. Can't recall it's been so long but I think I once inquired about it, with no response.
  11. The Tapoco Lodge. Pronounced Ta-PO-ka, as I was told by the attending server, is nearly biker perfection. A lovely building isolated in a seriously beautiful spot, with a dedicated 'motorcycles only' lot with covered spaces. Located a few miles from the infamous "tail of the dragon" and great roads in any direction. I've not stayed there but the atmosphere and menu at lunch are "high end-but on casual Friday-nearly an office party-bordering on the last half of a wedding reception." I'll bet the rooms and associated features are equally pleasing.
  12. Bryan confirmed my room today. What a great host. We had a nice chat about motorcycling. Docc, you beat me to the room reservation warning. I got the last 'deluxe' room which would leave I suspect the 'basic' and 'premium' All great rooms and fairly priced IMO. Can't wait to get there! ... and um ... bring tools?
  13. Yes the pre 98 are my favorite, like the SP you've posted. I didn't care for what came after. The SP was better equipped than the CR but I preferred the half fairing look.. I like to see motors.
  14. I booked a room for 'Yamaha-come-KTM' Bill W and myself tho Bill's yet to confirm this far in advance. That'll be one less room to consider for the group.
  15. I used ThreeBond 1194 on 2 trans shift plates and it worked well.
  16. Hi Scott! beaver nuggets would certainly change my outlook on life.
  17. I followed your advice and added to it. I have the std ground from batt to tranny, then a second wire, same gauge goes from the tranny bolt to a point on the frame, and a third (duplicate of the battery grnd) from the frame point to the R/R case. So basically same gauge wire from the battery to the R/R, stopping off at 2 points. All scraped and scrubbed and DeOxit'd, with soldered connectors. I'm with ya maybe it doesn't do much but when you're talking about "maybe it's grounded and maybe it's not," then maybe over kill is in order.
  18. Great to see you here again PaulM. and happy you are well. Are there any more details on the "other offset triple clamps were part of it" as in - were there two different triples for the early red frames?
  19. Exactly. While traveling I stopped into a reputable BMW/Euro bike shop in Denver to have a set of tires installed and oil change. Luckily I pulled in for lunch about 30 mi down the road. In turning the behemoth K1200rs around in the gravel lot I heard a rattle. The front caliper bolts were coming out! The body panel fasteners had not been snugged! WTf? I was far too angry to go back but I had to call them. Truth told, reputation or not, you're at the mercy of whoever actually does the work, often a contractor who may or may not possess a sense of responsibility. I do everything I can, myself (+forum) and anything I cannot do goes, for now, to Cadre Cycles Cincinnati, just because their good character is so obvious, and the shop sound was tuned to Hank Williams radio.
  20. Started with a '97 and shed 116lb. There's still some life left in the old spine frames. Looks great too.
  21. If one replaces the factory single plater with the NLA RAM 6speed single plater, the existing rod and bearing are in the bike already and will work. Replacing the factory single plater with the available RAM single for 5speed works as KINDOY2 points out. Replacing the factory single with the factory dual plate clutch is covered somewhere in past forum threads. IIRC the whole stock 6speed dual plate set up is used. So yes, you would not use the push rod from the single plate if going with dual. There is a difference in the distance between the clutch slave and the clutch plate spring cup. Someone help confirm please. FWIW I've measured the clutch actuating rod from my parts bike, a 2003 dual plate.. It measures 203mm, 8mm from cup end to step down at slave end which is 6mm. I don't have a length for the oem single plate rod. Maybe someone has one out.
