Do you have the new selector spring and extended shift lever for reassembly? Don't button her up without the new spring.
-
welcome BillyB. Did you insure the gear lever (pedal) is not hitting the pork chop on downshift? Look for the paint chipped off.

the only thing negative re thread/topic drift is when it drift's into something useful, such as this just has, and then can't be found later. We have discussed locking washers before "somewhere" on the forum .... after which I stocked up on several sizes of Schnorr washers for the Guzzi. I've never had a locking washer of any kind ever allow a nut or bolt to undo itself. But I don't build aircraft. One thing I don't understand is the idea of using a lock washer paired with a flat washer. It makes for a clean job, but seems to defeat the purpose.

Love the slideshow Bill... as always. Thanks. what's going on behind Moto Grappa?

Love him! so glad Moto GP came to Indy for 8 years. It was the best of times for enthusiasts in Indy and Rossi won the inaugural. He showed up at the Indy Mile in 2009 to support King Kenny on the TZ750 for his exhibition ride. Nicky Hayden was the fan favorite here but Valentino had no trouble winning And winning us over. Class act indeed.

The NAPA site actually has a filter listed FOR Moto Guzzi!!!!! 2002 LM 1100 cc shows Napagold 1215 and says it's the same as Wix 51215 so who knows

Ufi 2328700 Wix 51348 Bosche ST3330 DOUBLE check my numbers! EDIT, definitely double check. I got those others based on cross references I can no longer find. I'm sure I pulled these from here or WG or I wouldn't have purchased. Someone else chime in please. the Bosche and the Wix are certainly made in the same factory as they are identical

looks like a Ufi filter. Get a strap type filter wrench... fits everything. the filter can be tight and still have no seal at the gasket due to it possibly being too thin and threads bottomed out. If nothing else available... and you have another filter at hand, you can jamb a screwdriver all the way through the filter and loosen it that way.

splines and hex sockets (torx) have a lot in common. I can imagine a Guzzi with a belt drive. Shave maybe 30lb and have little to no maintenance. -

I'm witnessing mass cabin fever. -
The green is beautiful, and all three colors are so well suited to the bike I could not decide which to pursue while I looked for one. I still scour the adverts as I always have and though not as many come up these days, it seemed in the past there were always more green for sale, closely followed by silver, and hardly any in black. I don't know if this reflects production numbers but I suspect it does. It seems clear that they planned for the green. The silver, which I'll bet is the base coat for the green, was a natural choice and in keeping with the sport heritage. Vivid black maybe was just a safe third choice. I'm glad such a nice black one popped up for sale so near me.

Looks like the digital window will fit in just over the chicken. I like 'em. Swap to white face for some (me) .. should be easy.

when one or more of these give up the ghost I'll look for a better solution, maybe just the clock the way Phil did it.

looks a fair condition with a fair price

swear to God... 20 years ago I made a special trip to Lowes and bought FIVE 10mm wrenches of differing types, brought them home and hung them all on ONE peg at the bench. They added to the TWO in the box that I can never find. Not a problem now -
+1 on anything similar. Mesh, Not black, not complete crap, and cheap! I reach for it on days hot enough that I would otherwise not want to ride. My full perf Vanson jacket works fine on 'normal' hot days. Like this one but grey on upper and fully perforated. some time ago I did an obsessively deep dive into a Craigs List search and came up with 2 nice Vanson jackets for $200, and $175. and owners kind enough to ship. I found some extra inserts on the same search.

I got this several years ago just for "those" days. I won't say it's high quality but for $60. it works well. 5pc CE, plenty of pockets and strappage. Even has a liner. Made in C, has held up. https://www.amazon.com/Xelement-Igniter-Silver-Armored-Tri-Tex/dp/B086RQSL3M

Beautiful bike and a nice Ford too! My Tenni spent a few years in the care of a friend who had a dealer installed performance crossover, a BMC air filter, and a PC3 added. They dyno tuned it and it runs like a dream since the 8 years I've had her back home. I've swapped (similar) crossovers, hi flow mufflers, and replaced the stock intake cover and have not had a need to correct any tuning to date. I wouldn't have chosen the PC3 but it's done and she's a happy bike.
