Could be replaced gauges. And with the '02 carryover bikes there was likely varying parts bin mix n match. Could be Staintune polished stainless cans? Prices? I'll take a shot.. Good condition... 4k is a good deal. Under 5k might be acceptable. If it's nearby and the owner seems the caring sort.

I don't know if this is the case but it could be caused by an offset motor. My K1200 RS rear was offset 10mm ( I think) making left cornering a bit sketchier than right. Were our motors offset for the 5.5 rim? Also, if your front tire is worn you'll have less tread on the left side.

there was a thread some time ago regarding those rotor buttons. oxidation can make them stuck. remedy is to make a bolt/nut set up to clamp the button, and spin it with a drill. It won't work on my '00 but will on the '02 which has through holes.

you could fab a small bracket and attach to the hanger so it doesn't touch the can. on the bracket, mount the Lafranconi guards

It's a pricy Tenni, but considering condition, mileage, and there's probably no more than 38-40 of them in the US, not that bad, if you have to have a Tenni. The aluminum flywheel will need to be addressed at some point in the next 10-15k miles if you want to feel secure against failure. Tenni, Scura, and Rosso Mandello all suffer from an inadequately manufactured flywheel. Many of us have done the swap, lots of info here.

Buying the Roper plate means you've at least taken "mental possession" of one. Good on ya. Decide which model or range you want, and begin the search. You could get lucky or it might take some time, so be diligent. I've watched the market pretty seriously for several years. Cycle Trader, and CL Search Tempest mostly, monitoring classifieds here and Wild Guzzi. There are periods of feast and of famine. Having a low production number to start with, combined with price and condition variables, it can prove tough to find the one true love. But, it can be done. Bikes with issues can be 2-3k$, and the "collector" versions can hit 10k on the high end. I feel comfy saying you can still find a nice example @ 4-5k. I have ... 3 times.
