How much would the silencer cost for scura v11. Lafranconi carbon?
footgoose replied to lukaszv11scura's topic in 24/7 V11
All the Lafranconi's are rather heavy and restrictive. The Carbon wrapped ones will be a tad lighter, but not worth it for weight... just for looks. They do still sound good, but no comparison to open aftermarket cans. The only value I can see is for stock replacement. -
Brilliant! I can think of little better leisure time spent than inspecting another man's garage full of stuff. Especially one like that. Unless, maybe the pub afterward, with those two in tow, for a Guiness & Mild. or 2.

Uhggg thats probably the lowest mile fail I'm aware of. Sooo glad mine is outa there. curious.. what flywheel/clutch did they replace it with?

I watched the 4 video's I could find. He goes into detail about materials and construction method. He's a master craftsman. The bike is brilliant. I like it because his point was simple. Build a Titanium motorcycle. I'd like to see and hear more from him. Like why he chose a Guzzi.

"Another bike built for internet imaging and lookin' at. :glare:" It does "look" good. And to the casual observer, the minimal effort put into changes will likely go unnoticed. The V11 spine frame is already a work of art, and Scura is among the best variants. I worry about the exhaust location.

nice story porsdude.. welcome

Sorry for my previous brevity guys. Nowhere did I say riding motorcycles was the same as a bicycle. In the context of my intended point, some people can and do become quite competent at an activity by simply enjoying it. Others enjoy the analysis. Sorry to tread on it. I got on my first motorcycle and rode the crap out of it. Just like I did the toy bikes. End of That analogy.

I went from tricycle to bicycle to minibike to motorcycle. I don't remember ever thinking about how to turn.

the Lodge at Tellico Plains is a small, fantastic group of modern/rustic cabins, creating the perfect base for east Tennessee- west North Carolina roads and moto adventure. It's truly a special place. The poets, rogues, and Goose whisperers who gather for the SSR, make it interesting indeed.

Booked! My good friend Bill will be coming again, this time on his Super Tenere. His 3rd bike in 3 years.... he's working his way through marque's... till he wind's up with a Guzzi. -
Thanks for the great write up Rich. Glad she did you proud.

I used a fine metal polishing compound called Flitz on CF. Works well. I use it on paint as well. It's fabulous on aluminum.

I've heard that shipping by Bus for large items is reasonable. Don't know about crossing a border though.

I shipped a set from Indianapolis to Tokyo for 180. via USPS. Granted they were magnesium, but surprisingly it only took a week. I bolted them together and packaged them as if they were coming to me.

Gill, I have owned 2 2002's and had relays fail once in one and twice in the other. All in position 5. It's the fuel pump. One time it was an interesting 'partial fail' that cooled off and let me get her started, only to fail after 2 min riding. None of the newer relays have failed me. Keep your old ones and carry a couple with you just in case.

best relay thread... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19755&hl=omron

Thanks for the reply tip, daa, I will learn. Just about to ask about the "bad relays" I hear about, and what to replace them with. Then comes the "shifter prawl spring". Not to open a can of worms, but are these issues something I need to address with my 2002? Well I did it, asked the question! yes the spring needs swapped out for peace of mind. 2002 for sure. we have a new better spring... post #486 has the order info. the entire thread is it's story. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20201&hl=%20new%20%20pawl%20%20arm%20%20spring&page=33

Sounds like a great trip Tony. Congrats on getting the Tenni. 200kmh.. how sweet it is! I hope you can get some photos up of the trip. A few hard truth's, as I see it, regarding the aluminum flywheel. Purely what I would consider "likely", and would advise a friend. The alm flywheel was not necessarily poorly spec'd, but was, poorly made. At least some of them. I removed mine from the bike at 13000 miles with no apparent damage. The quality was less than one would expect from a part made to take such a beating. To me it looks turned from cast aluminum. Billet most likely was cost prohibitive, but I would prefer it. (I replaced mine with a RAM single plate clutch, complete with a lightened steel flywheel.) My rational is, if it breaks, it's poorly made. I honestly don't believe they are all destined to explode, or guaranteed break apart. The real negative about the issue is ... it might. There is anecdotal evidence here and elsewhere, that in some instances, they do indeed.. come apart. Which can and has caused quite a bit of damage. I preemptively swapped mine out for peace of mind. The standard dual plate clutch is another, probably more popular option. There is loads of info here about what and how to do it, and like everything else here ... loads of support from those who have. Keep an ear tuned to differences in that lovely dry clutch noise.

Welcome Gilputt. After researching the choices I figured the MPH were the way to go for me. By the time they made a batch available to me, I changed my mind. I like the stock bars. I'd sell my unused/never installed MPH kit for 325. Lemme know if interested. I can get some pics up tomorrow How about some photos of your bike?
