  1. love the photo mate. reminds me... we should do a "valve adjustment" tutorial at the next SR tech session?
  2. didn't someone on the forum post a Piaggio web address where you can plug in the vin and it shows recalls, color, etc.?
  3. Short answer- no. Small number of failures and a LOT more owners are a lot harder on their bikes than I. Looks like post '08 is clear of the problem. No science was used for this answer btw. Just my thoughts, considering I have so little invested in the bike. Good luck in your search.
  4. I've seen it up close. It looks great. AND, though I hadn't met you prior Chuck, I knew exactly who's bike it was.
  5. The aluminum flywheel that caused the problems were paired to a single plate clutch in 3 models. '01 Rosso Mandelio, '02 Scura, and '02 Tenni. If you have one of these, there are options. If you have a Rosso Corsa and you believe it has a single plate clutch, it's an aftermarket clutch and should be fine. More details on the bike will help. another DR650.. cool
  6. I'm assuming you mean Rosso Mandello. Corsa clutch is fine.
  7. woah.. cool avatar!
  8. Just read the synopsis Tim. Looks like something I could use in my own sometimes, admittedly confusing life. Thanks.
  9. oh that's a fine bacon slicer. I was afraid it might be this....
  10. you working less on the Guzzi's = me having less fun following. "Never have so few done so much for so many" of course includes many contributors to this forum, but your level of sharing the experience is well... quite commendable. I'm shocked.. shocked I tell you, at the thought of less of it! and yeah,... I completely agree with all that stuff about riding more the Big brass lady is looking better and better. I'm not sure what a bacon slicer is but ...
  11. "I'm trying to get my ride/wrench ratio to be even more heavily biased to riding." traitor
  12. That's a tidy DR foto. All things considered, probably the best bike in the world. off roading a bike for me at this age is down to what I'm willing and able to pick up.
  13. ooo yeah! congratulations Tim!
  14. all in the family
  15. I couldn't find a good source for Yak fat Pete. Organic or synth. You'd think the Chinese would be selling it? I was reminded though, of my old dad, rest his soul, telling me how my grand dad, rest his soul, would use hog fat/skin/rind as bearings for his farm implements. Tractor, saw mill, etc. Good memories, that old farm.
  16. A Norton idling on its center stand will “walk” across the shop floor
  17. It means.. it’s so easy, even I can figure it out. I read the thread you linked about the do/don’t hose clamp. It made me want to “drink from the jar”
  18. sometimes you just gotta look at it. the clamp install, should you choose to use it, is brain stem.
  19. remember, 7k pounds is 9700 US. I got the Tenni new in '02 and paid 11,700. and thought it was a deal. I still think it was. I watched a Scura for sale in NJ for several weeks last fall. It was $6995. mileage around 14k. I considered it, but the ad language put me off. Still, I didn't think it was out of line value-wise.
  20. where do I sign up?
  21. once you get it up there, you'll see how it goes. put the screw end against the (thing hanging there) in a fashion that won't allow the filter to unscrew
  22. agreed. I think it's just the camera lens making those cans look weird.
  23. I used the "1&1/8 past touching" up until using the jubilee clip. It was pretty tight. never came loose.
  24. notable quote if memory serves, overheard @ a recent SR evening conversation "don't ask me, I drank from the jar"
  25. I haven't needed or used any gasket goo yet. I did start using a hose clamp on the filter. Easy add for peace of mind. Stugnu --- what is a jubilee clip?
