  1. entertaining, heart warming, and funny. sorry brother Scud, that be funny. good post docc. I'll be there.
  2. Heh - just back from a short ride on a fresh(er) seat that I got from footgoose. Whew - apparently 100,000+ miles are a bit hard on seat foam . . . this is much better. Now to take my original seat to make the custom that I'm being brewing up. We'll have to have a Custom Seat thread! Yes please do! I want to do a new seat too.
  3. I tend to agree. As I described on another 'taller windscreen' thread, my MRA (3") combined with my particular riding position/helmet, created a turbulence that moved my head around a bit too much.
  4. nice write up. thanks
  5. Pretty sure there is only, but at least 1 washer at the top end of the speedo cable.
  6. korect! I forgot about them being even at the front
  7. II suspect the shorter pipe goes on the left as that cylinder is set back of the other.
  8. it's gotta be blowing by somewhere. rings or valve guides? the bike sat unused for a while, yes? I'd just keep an eye on it for awhile. see what develops. Any smoke at start, or while giving it a good rev?
  9. I bought a vacuum pump for my BMW's as recommended. After about 15 min I disconnected it and threw it away. Do as Scud and Roy have said. I would add that I first use a big syringe and suck out my old fluid from the reservoir, and wipe it out with clean cloth and q-tips. Then top up with new. This will save pushing the old fluid thru everything. Just be aware not to let air in the system. My father in law used to swear by the gravity method with his cars. I've never tried it.
  10. Jeeze, He did the Centaro AND the speed triple Triumph. And the Sport/LM. Artist.... wizard. Him with the 850 LM says it all. That's Italian! How old was he? Looks like a rich and full life. Will be missed.
  11. Interesting. I have 2 '02's, one purchased new, and both have needles that faded at the same rate.
  12. I'm with you there! That said, I would also 'assume', and personally 'would' just blank it off. I have done it to mine.
  13. I'm not sure about the reliability of the 04 speedos, but the earlier ones are known to be prone to failure. The needles should sun fade at the same rate. If you noticed the bike looking "tired" as well, I'd say you made a good call by passing on it. There will be more. Too bad though, on the long trip. Welcome to the forum. You'll have fun here.
  14. you make some pretty cool stuff Chuck. I'm honored to have yer part on my bike. Well, when I install it

    Parts Bike

I'm glad it worked out for both of you.
  16. almost exactly 1 yr later... they don't come up very often around here. This is the second EV I've seen for sale near me in a year. It's an '01 with hard bags, looks nicely cared for, 17k mi. $3700. I'm looking at it tomorrow. Just a refresher... 2001 is one of the good years, right?
  17. very nice. Never heard of a Bellagio. Did we get them over here/why not?
  18. I wish. Does Peter Egan still show up for those? I wondered if they named that meet after 30 year old unchanged brake fluid. fwiw, I call that mashed potatoes.
  19. Yes! beautiful. Scud, anything left of your red grey?
  20. This is all good to hear. Docc.... we* believe this to be true. We only need to wait till one of us does the swap to confirm. I won't be doing mine for a couple of months. Are you interested in a single for your bike? 'we' being MGcycle, and a few of us here on the forum. I hope we're right.
  21. 1 is front
  22. So at least this has bugged me enough to find what's rattling at idle on MY bike! My rectifier is mounted in front between two horns. One horn is mounted close enough to contact the rectifier at just the right rpm. Makes a nasty rattle. I think the horn bowl amplifies it. Fixed in seconds. I hope yours is as easy a fix.
  23. The look is fantastic. Id like to see them on a LM, but I'm guessing they look best on a Sport. They sound wonderful. Truthfully. it'd be hard to f- up the sound of a Guzzi. Nice job. Noticed you stopped at a remote roadside so not frighten any citizenry.
  24. I had interpreted this to mean the rattle occurs both at idle and under load? I, too, do not hear any unusual sound in the video, but if it is a noise that has only recently started, it is worth investigating. me too, and me too
  25. Hi and welcome. Mine makes a similar sound but only at idle while warming. It's clearly coming from outside the motor (mine) so I'm not bothered. 'Something' mounted close to 'something else' and occasionally rattling. (exhaust or charcoal can?) I would recommend using a piece of garden hose or similar tubing, about 2 feet long, placing one end at your ear and use the other to "browse" for the noise. Like a stethoscope. If it's internal, I can't speculate.
