  1. My new favorite parts web site! Thanks!
  2. You wouldn't feel shamed if they truly were perfectly good parts docc! Hahaha, I am just saying that so that there might be others to help share my in my disease! Not to mention my favorite saying, "If it ain't broke, keep messing with it!"
  3. Yea there's a lot of interesting (and kinda odd) mods to that bike. Howabout that fork mounted spot/fog light with wires hanging all over! Don't mind the quilted seat, but not a fan of the pin-striping. Otherwise I like it!
  4. Or if you wanted to ditch the ugly OEM reservoirs all-together: http://www.whaccessories.com/BrakeReservoirs.htm
  5. Here's an interesting cafe racer modded red frame in LA! http://losangeles.en.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/4375377880.html
  6. OK Finally another Naked Norge update! Got a rare V11 LeMans replacement windscreen from a member here (thanks Keith!), and it is now installed on the Norge. Wasn't getting any cooperation from any of the screen mfg's that I spoke to on making a custom one for my bike, hence the crazy gamble of using this MRA windscreen. It works quite well actually, but it certainly ended up a lot taller than I thought it was going to be. I also got some Breva side scoops, which are being painted silver right now. I have some factory OEM "Norge 1200" decals coming from Italy now, and I will apply those to the side scoops before final clear coat is sprayed. The reason I have 4 scoops, is that I bought a brand new set and chrome finishers (from 3 different sources $$$) and then literally the day after I received them, I found a used set complete, so I had to buy them too (they were cheap!). I'll sell off the new ones if my paint job doesn't come out well enough on the used ones.
  7. Thanks for the reply and good words Mike! Yea, I am curious about the resistor too... the booklet mentions that you need it if using an ECU line to feed the SpeedHut signal, but I know it is assuming an automotive ECU...probably not any different than motorcycle's ECU though. Pulse #2 setting it is! Please keep in touch with any questions/ideas/problems that you encounter. My build thread is getting out of hand , but it's nice to have it all archived here on the forum. If it can help somebody in any way, it was all worth it! Thanks again for your post on the gauges!
  8. für meine deutschen Freunde! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Le-Mans-/251467130567 Achtung! Watch that tacho!
  9. Hey Mike! Great looking Veglia replacements! You went the same route that I did, in that you wanted to keep the same general look to the bike, but with modern clocks that actually work! Because the '03+ bikes use the (even crappier) ITI gauges, I went with a black SpeedHut setup. I made my own graphic and worked with the artists at SpeedHut to get the right size/placement to my liking. SpeedHut is great to work with. I hope you had a similar positive experience. Here are the links to the gauge related posts from my bike's restoration project thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18247&page=5&do=findComment&comment=194875 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18247&page=6&do=findComment&comment=195235 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18247&page=7&do=findComment&comment=195913 Regarding the wiring, you said "Used the existing tacho pulse/power/earth (yellow/black, red/black?, black) and it was a sinch, so really happy." Just to confirm, since we are using the yellow tach wire off the Moto Guzzi ECU, my instructions said to place a resistor between it and 12+ power. Did you put that resistor in? My gauges are all wired up and seem to work, but I can't fire my bike up for another few months until I get the new tank painted etc... so I don't know if the tach is actually working. What pulse number did you set the tach to, to get the correct RPM? Joe
  10. Hahaha I was going to post on earemike's gauge report tonight...and apparently there are some blokes here who aren't actually following my build thread! LOL When ordering SpeedHut gauges for motorcycles, you need to instruct them to silicone them during assembly. They're still not going to be IP65 rated or anything, but it's better than nothing. I may give a few extra dabs of silicone sealer on the wire hole grommets once everything is tidied up. With the fairing installed and good 'ole Arizona dryness, I hope these will last the life of the bike. Bottom line, great company to deal with.
  11. A nice 2002 Le Mans in champagne (just for you crazyhorse!) http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=251463578414
  12. I couldn't resist contacting the owner of the Greenie - talked to the guy for 15 minutes or so. He has a Ducati 916 and thought he didn't need two bikes...he is now re-considering keeping the V11 though (I may have helped him re-light the Guzzi fires). Even at that extremely low price, he has been getting some low ball offers and that has discouraged him from wanting to let it go too. Welcome to the world of Craigslist! He says he doesn't use turn signals, his Duc doesn't have them either...but it didn't sound like he was the one who took them off. Small scratch on one muffler, some cracking on the front fender where the two halves meet up, but otherwise nice and shiny. He guesses he might be the third owner but isn't sure. Veglia clocks work fine (they aren't ITI afterall!). He just replaced the clutch with a Guzzi OEM part, but he noticed the new clutch has solid rivets, whereas the old one hollow rivets. He attributes this to why the friction material came loose on the original clutch (slipping). New fork seals, new rear brake pads, all fluids. Not sure if any recalls were done, but he was aware of these bikes having that transmission pawl spring issue. He hasn't had any tranny issues since owning it, but did note it likes to be shifted positively. He is a mechanic and he did all the recent work including balancing the throttle bodies. He installed manual petcock and fixed some cracking on the side panel cover mounting holes with JB weld. He asked me about aftermarket cans and PCIII stuff, but it sounds like he is probably going to leave it stock. Really just needs some new tires and cosmetic fixes, and it will be good to go. Damn, if I didn't have a huge tax bill this year I think there'd be a red frame en el garaje.
  13. oops copy that docc... yea that greenie is tempting, being so close and the best price for a V11 I've seen yet...
  14. Hey Docc, the turn signals are present, just non-functional...probably needs a new relay is all. Really awesome set of photos for my archives on this one. Seems like the Rosso Mandellos I've seen have been heavily modified or well used, this one is the first one that I'd get for the "collection". Damn, I hope all these nice examples are still around when I win the lottery!
  15. Very good deal on a greenie! It's almost local as well if anybody wants me to check it out. http://phoenix.en.craigslist.org/evl/mcy/4346638701.html
  16. Very nice Rosso Mandello! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Sport-Rosso-Mandello-2001-moto-guzzi-v-11-sport-rosso-mandello-special-edition-068-p-/291086968598?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item43c622a716&vxp=mtr
  17. Thanks docc! That's my plan right now, just clean the crap out of it. There definitely was some dissimilar metal corrosion going on on the contact, but doubtful it is my culprit...hope it's an easy fix! Appreciate the tips on the fluid too...I used some Redline stuff in my (former) BMWs as well.
  18. Let there be light! Finally got the gauge cluster wired up. But of course all new problems arose. Neutral light isn't working. Bulb is good and relay is good (shorted neutral sensor wire to chassis and got a green) so sensor seems to be a problem. Pulled the sensor quickly to inspect the plunger, but dumped a decent amount of tranny fluid....looked pretty dark. I am just going to dump it all and refill. What kind of gear oil do you guys use? I like Royal Purple 75W90... what's best for these bikes? Are the neutral switches repairable? What are the chances there is a mechanical failure inside the tranny? I hooked up the fuel pump and raised the kickstand, and was able to fire up the pump, get a low fuel light (dim), turn over the motor, and the oil pressure went out....so that stuff is looking good. Turn signals work good too (although no blinking, I assume because the rears are not installed?). Brights worked as expected too. Mounted some new turn signals on the original stems (stem spacers removed) but had to modify the flange nuts to accommodate the tight space: A rubber washer helped to clock the lights, since I couldn't tighten it on the nut side.
  19. yea those were very nice buys...would have loved to get that greenie!
  20. Thanks for the tip on the Eastwood Diamond Clear docc! I will be spraying these tomorrow! In my quest for keeping all of this bike's original body parts un-touched, I have secured a new rear cowl, pillion cover, front fender (seen in a previous post), and even a new gas tank. Found them all from a guy in Italy. Only took 13 days to get here. The tank is from a green-grey Ballabio I think. The rear cowl is from a red sport naked. Not sure where the pillion cover is from, but it is a slightly different grey than my original cover. The gas tank is scratched all to hell, but the damage seems superficial. Hopefully there are no surprises when we prep for paint.

  24. Eastwood diamond clear matte is on the way docc! Here's a photo with gauges mounted. Also repainted the light housing and replaced the aluminum gauge mount. All original lights will work, except the old backlights (4 bulbs) were removed from the loom. Speedhut speedo will duplicate turn and hi-beam. Wiring is almost done...might have to invoke the help of Kiwi but so far so good. I'm scared about the ECU tachometer line directly feeding the SpeedHut. It says to install a 4.7k resistor from +12 ACC to the tach feed to allow direct ECU connection...but the instructions are assuming automotive computers, not Italian motorcycle ECUs!
  25. thanks docc! I am familiar with Eastwood's products...I will look into that satin clear coat... Gauges are going in tonight, then the wiring fun begins. So it's going back together, just a lot slower than I want! I still have a bunch of parts coming over in the boat, then the painting process, building up a new custom tail light/license plate holder, fluids/brakes, and I'm sure a hundred other things along the way!
