  1. Thanks again guys for your input on the crossover box. Before I get a friend to TIG the part back on (I cut it really clean, should be easy) I am going to experiment with my own hanger system. I really want to avoid reinstalling that heavy mess of an evaporate bracket if possible. Andy, in the states (especially California) a fuel vapor catch system has to be installed on all petrol powered motorcycles & cars. It's basically a plastic box with activated charcoal and stuffing that re-circs and traps the vaperous gasoline so it doesn't leak into the atmosphere. I've removed it on every bike I've owned as it is not against the law in my state. It's only a problem if an authorized dealer does it.
  2. thanks guys- I hadn't placed much value in the bracket since I took out the whole evaporate canister mounting pieces. I completely see what you are referring to with regard to the possible stress on the front pipe headers. I will look into it further and if need be, rivet on (and seal!) an aluminum bracket to limit vertical motion. BTW, the resultant two empty frame holes from the evaporate hardware might make an intetesting lift point if someone were to design a custom V11 lift/jack (just thinking outloud).
  3. OK, here's today's update! Decided to ditch the helmet lock mechanism....not to save weight or anything, but just to clean up the frame a little. Does anybody use these things? Result after grinding, sanding and painting. (I also increased the preload on the rear damper a bit per your recommendations - but I think I'm going to go aftermarket next year) After reading about Keith's fuel pump leaking post today, I decided to pull mine out too, and prep it for the new Coppa tank. It appears mine is the 1st gen version, with the white plastic retainer sleeve. The newer ones are black I think. Well, this is how it came out of the tank: detached from the sleeve. Must have been low enough in the tank to still be picking up (unfiltered!) fuel, because the bike was running fine when I first got it. Gasket is starting to crack and split, so I've got a new one in my Guzzibits shopping cart now...need to find time to research more needed parts before ordering another Scorpion box from the U.K. LOL My fix for making sure the fuel pump can't ever come out of the sleeve again! (learned this trick from the oil filter trick!) New filter installed and it's all cleaned up and ready to install. The factory style crimps are very easy to install, but harder to remove. The arrow on the fuel filter looks like it's pointing the wrong way to the pump, but the arrow is actually pointing towards the outlet like it's supposed to...just crappy cell phone pic. There's a support member for the evap canister on the crossover box... bye bye. Tabs cut-off and the box cleaned up, ready for re-mounting.
  4. Congrats! I was debating on what to tackle on my bike today, and when your post came through, it made my decision for me. I changed the fuel filter and cleaned up the whole pump assembly. My gasket is tearing and breaking down visibly, but not too bad. I am going to order a replacement though. The little clamps were easy to install, a lot harder to remove! I will be updating my build thread with pictures now. Thanks again for your thread on this.
  5. Thanks much! I may have another parts order for you soon
  6. I definitely saw your thread....matter of fact, I emailed my shop the link to it in case it was any help to them. I didn't really talk to the tech about the rebuild, other than him saying it was easy once they got the right sized seals. But I'll go over your posts again and see if I can get some more info for you.
  7. Old harness connector spliced into new switchgear! It was scary drilling a hole into the Jean Marc bars for the detent pin, but it's all done! Now just waiting on right side switch gear. Carbon Fiber starter cover installed.
  8. Here are some pics to keep things moving! The infamous 'quick-connect' fittings for the tank fuel lines! Guzibits only had one, so I snatched it up. I'll probably get some more from Moto International later. Also, the proper single use fuel line clamps are pictured. New left hand switchgear from Guzibits. Same form factor on the switch itself, but will need the original wire harness spliced in. It comes with a molex connector ready to be 'pinned' according to your needs, but that connector won't mate up to the V11 receptacle. Bottom line, no more faded and sun damaged buttons. A little critter crawled into the box.... I didn't know it until I already reached in and grabbed the part! I know damn well this Scorpion didn't hitch a ride from the U.K.! We still have unusually warm temps here, but I was still surprised to see one of these just a week before Christmas. I still can't believe I found a new seat!!! Thanks again foggy95! It's beautiful. Before I discuss fun with the Jean Marc bars... Am I supposed to have two adjusters labeled "R"??? I think I read here that some other bikes were equipped with two "C"s? but I thought that one tube was supposed to be for compression, and the other rebound? Probably just a factory screw up? I must say that the Jean Marc riser bars are 100% superfine craftsmanship...metallurgical artwork. WOW. However, dealing with the resultant geometry has been a challenge! It's looking pretty ugly now, but I think I am going to leave it be for the time being. You can see that the clutch line now rides over the top of the left adjuster, and the break line is routed on the outside of the right tube. I've re-used the cable-guide from the brake line and relocated it to the top of the tree (for the clutch line). A tank-on test successfully demonstrated free cable movement and no apparent safety issues. They're both likely more free and compliant to steering input than OEM, if you can handle the looks. For now, I don't want to replace the hydro lines with longer ones until I'm ready to flush all the systems. The throttle cable was re-routed as well, and also was improved with less hard curves. Soon to be replaced reservoirs. Headlight mounting brackets removed for re-painting. Note, that I also lowered the front end of the bike, enough to flush-up the ring height of the Jean Marc riser bars. I've also heard it's a good idea to lower the V11's front stance a little anyways. It's hard to tell, but I re-painted the faded plastic Domino cover of the throttle cable housing (the cover facing forward). I thought about getting a replacement throttle assembly, but so far a re-paint is satisfying enough for me on that piece!
  9. With all the galling/stripping issues I've had with stainless hardware over the years, I'd be very weary of swapping out for SS in that application. Maybe there is another type of coated/treated steel nut that could be used? I dunno...I just tend to run away from stainless hardware anymore.
  10. Thanks docc! Much appreciated. I'm really enamored with the V11 series bikes... if I win the lottery, I'm searching out 1 of each type For now however, it's my duty to get this '03 back on the road! BTW, Do you have the links to the "enzo" build? What's the story there?
  11. Finally got the bike back from the shop... forks are re-sealed and ready to go... no more puddles on the floor (well not from the V11 forks anyways! the Norge is puking from the left cylinder head as well as the oil filter area). They had some problem locating the right seals for the 43mm Marzocchi's (as I expected), but the tech didn't appear to have too much difficulty with the rebuild (a relief). The guys at the shop all really appreciated the bike, and treated it like a special guest - and that was with the bike stripped down to non-running rolling chassis! Other items ordered, soon to be ordered or already received: Jean Marc risers (thank you KiloSjon!) OEM La Franconi CF silencers Breva 750 tail light (experiment in progress) plastic fender eliminator from Taiwan (experiment in progress) new faux CF Dardo turn signals from Slovenia (x4) 'Real Gaskets Tennessee' silicone rocker cover gaskets (for the Norge too!) extra pan gaskets, upper and lower Aprilia mirrors Pete Roper plate oil filters/washers brand new OEM seat from Coppa/Cafe (thank you foggy95!) brand new aftermarket Coppa/Cafe seat Powermax replacement bushes for the Cardan bar new OEM left side switchgear used right side switch gear used ignition switch/seat release/gas tank cap spare blank key Domino grips replacement fuel line quick coupler new grommets for the OEM CF windscreen mounts real carbon fiber starter cover (the more intricate version) Coppa Italia gas tank Coppa Italia/Cafe Sport rocker covers Coppa Italia/Cafe Sport cylinder head protectors Still on the fence as to what to do about the gauges. I like the Koso gauges (they now make the RX2n in white), but I am still yearning for some modern (but analog) gauges, such as the super expensive Motogadget gauges. I am also looking at Acewell, Legendary and Speedhut. But I think the Motogadget ones are the classiest. Gonna be a fun winter!
  12. I'm trying to get a hold of the PF99-103 bushings from Powerflex... but I can't get anyone to email me back yet...gonna just order some off eBay tonight. Here are the ones I am going to try for my Cardan bar: http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/product-details/100+Series+Top-Hat+Bush/39.html I would have liked to get the red anodized bar from Rossopuro (I love the easy bling) but looks like that avenue is shut down.
  13. Thanks for your input and link, the Rizoma stuff is nice looking indeed. I think I am going with the silver WH Accesories ones, mostly just because WH has been extremely helpful. But our goal is the same - ditch the faded, cracking tupperware! No need to get the rear break reservoir replaced at this point.
  14. Good stuff, thanks for posting. Now I have to make some decisions. At least I wear a size 13 shoe!
  15. Thanks man! I will check my seat as soon as I get home tonight.... If this is for my bike, and 4corsa can't use it or doesn't want it, I will pay you this evening!
  16. Maybe foggy95 can take some pics, top and bottom so we can figure that out?
  17. I'll put myself 2nd in line, in case 4corsa doesn't need it!
  18. WH Accessories' response below...looks like a good company to deal with so far! Hello Joe Unfortunately, we don't have any Moto Guzzi's listed but you should be able to go with universal reservoirs. You can go for example with the V38 or V43, or the B38 reservoirs. From the pictures you attached, I can not say which brackets from what other bike might fit. They all come with a straight mounting bracket have to bend the bracket into position. If you could provide us with measurements of each bracket, we will try to match as close as possible. Please check http://www.whaccessories.com/BrakeReservoirs.htm You can use the same reservoir on left and right side or a mix between two different reservoirs. The 90 degree outlet rotates 360 degrees, you should be able to use any of these reservoirs. Thank you for your interest. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us. 19. thanks Jim! going to look into those as well (since I have the Jean Marc riser bars already)...thanks for the link!
  20. Thanks docc! I don't think finding reservoirs will be too bike specific... but this thread did start out with an interesting statement about being compatible 'Guzzi" clutch fluid....hmmm or LOL? Could be a dangerous evening tonight... I just started searching eBay Italy, Germany, France and Netherlands... the prices are mostly *ridiculous*, and shipping is even worse, but there seems to be a lot more parts to choose from.
  21. Just sent WH Accessories an email... I'll let everyone know what they say, I really would like to replace the plastic ones on my V11 now. They don't have Guzzi specific applications, but I'm guessing since they do have Aprilia ones, that I'll be in good shape. (another thread resurrection!)
  22. Not sure they are Moto Guzzi OEM, but they do appear to be real CF (for whatever that's worth). And I think all the CF on the bike is real CF...it fades in our AZ and takes on a certain look! BTW, I have some very nice hi-res pics of this #54 bike that the owner emailed me. If anyone wants me to go look at the bike, I should be able to arrange it...I've already had quite a few email exchanges with the owner.
  23. Yea, I'd be in for a nice stand at $250 as well.
  24. I am sure he will PM (private message) you through the built in mail system on this thread, or the other thread I linked. Then you guys can exchange your real emails. You can always start the conversation too, just hover over his username and send a message! Good luck, wish I had the facilities to get your Tenni myself! It's a beauty.
  25. Hello Danny, we tried to get a hold of you, but the ad expired... I hope that Twin AH is still lurking, because he was really excited when I told him about your bike and I posted the photos. p.s. go here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18250&do=findComment&comment=194156 I had some of your Craigslist photos saved, so I hosted and re-posted for you.
