  1. Forgot to mention, it is #54 for sale in AZ. Here are links to both bikes (and both are lightly modified) http://phoenix.en.craigslist.org/cph/mcy/4209309156.html http://phoenix.en.craigslist.org/cph/mcy/4193426360.html
  2. Great, thanks docc! Almost ready to start the original red-frame V11 Sport, Sport Naked '02 and Sport Naked '03+ registries! BTW, to stay on topic, there is a local Rosso Mandello for sale and also one in New Mexico right now.
  3. How come this hasn't been pinned yet?
  4. Yea, that is a pretty crazy price, but I think you hit it on the head...it's just a 'must have' rarity item... I wouldn't mind trying one out (I like the look of bikes parked on centerstands), but I think I am just going to research the best workshop stand to buy instead.
  5. Sold for $433!!! Holy cow that must be a rare OEM item. Yup docc, figured why start a new thread, search for old ones....10 year old ones!
  6. Thanks for the photos! Been working on my tank over the holiday too, patching up the heat shielding with stainless tape. I haven't taken out the fuel pump yet, but I may be doing that soon...there's that darn fuel filter! I might have found a replacement tank for mine, and I probably should get a new gasket and fuel filter before installing a new tank. Let us know if you find the leak. I am also still looking for those darn replacement fuel line quick connect fittings (grey).
  7. 5 hours to go (thread resurrection!) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Sport-LeMans-Center-Stand-OEM-/331074243871
  8. Thanks for the feedback fellas! Much appreciated on the tips about Gustafsson, that's exactly what I'm going for, a sport shaped wind deflector in dark smoke. Not sure I can do end-bar mirrors though, got too much $$ wrapped up in the Aprilia mirrors already, and I will still tour with my wife/panniers occasionally, and for safety's sake, I'm just too used to "antenna style" mirrors. Good call on the flat black paint to disguise the tank cut-out...I'm still looking for some 1200 Sport tank adornments, which should bolt right in...but they do have a big splash of chrome on them (yuk). More to come once I figure out how to mount the 1200 sport gauge bracket this weekend!
  9. Ethanol strikes again? I've got this later style 'in-tank' pump too...gonna keep an eye on this area.
  10. Hello all, I figured while the V11 is in the shop getting new fork seals, I'd have a little time to start documenting my Naked Norge project. I just got the Norge a few weeks ago, and whenever I get a new (used) car, bike, whatever, I like to familiarize myself with it by dismantling everything and seeing what "POS's" I can find....POS = "Previous Owner Secrets". On the Norge, I didn't expect too many surprises, as the bike is a 2007 but wasn't sold until late 2010...I actually sat on the bike in the showroom years earlier while having one of my Aprilias serviced...Regardless, the PO still managed to rack up 25,000 miles in the 3 years of ownership. He had taken most of the side and lower plastics off on day one, I had planned to re-install everything back to stock: But alas, I started to find some niggles that got me tearing into the bike deeper and deeper. The front turn signals were corroding from within (bad chrome job) and were 'glued' to the fairing holes with some weird epoxy...bleh. Half-assed removal of evap canister system (all hoses still in place), taped up micro contact switch on clutch, broken crossover pipe mounting hanger, corroded battery, too much lube everywhere, sticky velcro on the dash from GPS units, blown valve cover gasket on left cylinder (yup the usual exhaust valve side leak), worn down grips (how the heck?), just general things like that. Gaining access to the wiring and engine in general is a pain on the Norge, just because of all the tupperware you have to remove...and also, why hide the beautiful 1200 twin and transmission!??? That's why I bought a Guzzi afterall! Further, the digital dash is way to vertical and low, making quick glances pointless. I also didn't like how the gauges were fixed to the fairing and did not rotate with steering head movement. Maybe I should have just got a 1200 Sport? Well I didn't really know much about that bike back then, and of course, part of the reason I got this bike was so my wife and I could do a little bit of touring all bagged up...and this bike came with MG side panniers and an aftermarket Givi top box. Wife was happy! So, even though I was planning to re-plastic-ify the bike, I now had a new mission, to strip the plastics! One thing let to another, and I ended up cutting down the main central fairing's winglets, and the mating black insert. I also fabricated up a new mount for the gauge pod with some aluminium pieces, and although very strong and sturdy, totally ghetto. I just got a 1200 Sport gauge bracket off eBay, and it looks like it is going to work, only with some slight modification...the gauges fit exactly into the rubber isolators thankfully. As far as the windscreen goes, I need to find a suitable tinted plexi piece to affix directly to the fairing, a-la sport bike style. Haven't had any luck finding one yet. Any help here would be appreciated. I've got various measurement photos (I posted one below). I've also added some modern Piaggio/Aprilia mirrors for both the Norge and the V11. I've had good luck with them...and I am not a fan of the chrome mirrors on the Norge (don't like chrome in general). BTW, I love riding this bike as a naked....BTW, I don't think the 1200 Sport has ABS like the Norge, although the Norge I think has taller gears, which is fine by me. I'm currently checking with pinwall parts to see if they have an extra set of 1200 Sport side scoops to screw onto my Norge tank...I think that's the only area that's going to look hokey if I don't put something there. Opinions welcomed, hopefully there aren't any Norge 'purists' around! LOL On with the pics!
  11. Thanks much, I will look into the BMW fittings....I would really like to get a nice and easy quick release system going, as everything else about the bike is so easy to work on (especially with the airbox removed).
  12. My tank is off on my Naked now (2003: no petcock, and internal fuel pump, and I capped off one of the tank breather nipples), but my local mechanic has the bike right now getting the front forks re-done. He said since I kind of busted one the grey snap plugs on one of the gas lines, that I should get two new sets of red nipples and new mating grey snap connectors. I've never seen these for sale on any Guzzi parts web site? I am fairly certain that the original connectors are going to snap on securly and be fine, but if I did replace them, where in the heck am I going to find them? Can you actually replace the red 90 deg nipples anyways? (although they seem fine)? What are our options on better quick disconnects for these V11s? Those quick connects really suck to figure out the first time! Make sure to depressurize, and don't be tempted to use any tools to mangle them! I got my Norge one off in seconds, kind of a pushing and pulling action at the same time...
  13. Fantastic - I really appreciate that friend- I don't think that Richard Moud guy is doing V11 seats anymore, but I haven't tried to contact him yet.
  14. Haha, I know what you mean! After having only a carport at my last house, I vowed to make a very modest man-cave garage at my new house (2.5 car garage). First thing on the list was lighting. Came with two globe 60W fixtures! Painted the walls white, and added 5 48" recessed ceiling troffers with 6000K flourecents. Lights up my whole neighborhood when the door's open! The racedeck flooring is nice, but has its drawbacks. I'm going to replace it in a season or two more. The Norge center-stand made a real nice divot the other day!
  15. I tried making the bike work without any fairings, but I've since decided to hack up the front fairing (i.e. cut off the tapered winglets) and after rigging up the fairing, I think it came out pretty nice! I will post a separate thread with more details....still a work in progress...
  16. I wonder if the '02 seats are compatible with the '03+ bikes? If so, I might be interested in your tricolore seat....if all goes as planned! Mine is really jacked up and split from sun damage.
  17. oh I have...indeed I have! Just not so much in one month!
  18. After reading this thread, it certainly isn't a drop in switchover...its a whole front end swap.... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18190&page=2 and what if the bloke plowed the front wheel into a wall? And to top it all off, the 'Guzzi Ohlins' are not up to snuff to most other Ohlins forks? I'm not writing it off just yet, but I'm a little gun-shy at the moment.

  21. I looked into bidding on the bike...I even have a CoPart account now...but I need to hire a broker etc... and after it's all said and done, I probably can't use the Ohlins on my '03, and would have ended up paying $2000+ for a couple of carbon fiber parts. I guess I'll keep an eye on eBay over the next few months!
  22. Thanks again guys, for the info on my suspension options... For now, I think I'm going to just have the front forks re-sealed and see how it goes. My laundry list for this bike is growing quickly! But I've already secured some good items. I got the Jean Marc riser bars, an original set of La Franconi CF pipes (no weight savings I'm sure, just for looks and to get rid of the faded anodized/painted stock mufflers), and as you can see below, I am experimenting with pod filters. I was going to use the prefilter baggies, and the foam at the same time and skip on oiling the element (I hate oiled K&N filters), but aside from the red foam being gigantic and un-sightly, I think I might be pushing my luck with restricting the air. My goal is to ditch the stock airbox (because I like the accessibility it affords!) without having to use a Power Commander. I'm not trying for the king of V11 horsepower award either. Just a lightly modded and reliable V11 sport cruiser. Here are the pics of the K&N parts I picked up ($134 worth!). Anyone need some nice giant K&N red beer coozies? I'll have more info soon, as more parts roll in. I kinda got side-tracked the past few weeks too...just ask Docc... I decided to hack up my '07 Norge and make it into a psuedo "Naked-Norge". Not sure what forum to post that project on though...might get attacked by some purist Norge-men.
  23. man would sure like the CF hugger and front fender...I don't think the Ohlins would fit my '03 though..that might make it worth-while..too bad about the mistrals too!
  24. Unfortunately, today I got a rejected email notice from the Craigslist ad...not much else we can do at this point...
  25. Hi my friend, here are the photos of #122.... hopefully we can get a hold of him, and hopefully he hasn't sold it yet!
