Hmmm interesting idea! Too bad I sold my Mana GT a few years ago! Neat bike for sure. A little top heavy at slow speeds, but very confident handling everywhere else.
-
Hahaha probably not your kind of miles Scud (1000's per weekend!), but it would be a great honor to put down a couple hundred with you here in Tucson! Lots of neat places to go in my area. Also Roy, aside from the items mentioned above, my favorite reason to go to the GPS version was to snub my nose at my Italian fratelli, bypassing at least one of the many 'medieval' mechanical devices on the bike. If the ITI clocks were Swiss made for example, I'd do what is necesary to "keep a cable in 'em". But after reading about how fragile they were, the incorrect math on some of the tumblers, and issues with the transmission/cable interface, It was a no brainer to me replace the gauges with a fully electronic GPS version. It was also nice to not have to run a Hall-effect sensor to someplace on the wheel etc.Somebody paid a lot of money to put those 24 satellites up there...might as well take atvantage!

Docc, there's a few shots of it in my thread and videos, but here's a quick one for you showing the size and where I decided to place it. Great information in this thread. I just bought a Speedhut GPS speedometer for my 2004 Billabio and hope to start the install this week. The instructions talk about the hot start feature (red/black wire) that keeps the GPS powered up. Instructions say this draws 25 micro-amps. Maybe I missed it in your wiring diagram, but did you wire the hot start to a constant 12 volt source? Thanks for the good words! You should see Scud's work too - he's a perfectionist who actually rides his bikes! I've only got about 60 miles on my V11 since the rebuild! Too many other projects going on! Anyways, that leads me in to your answer about the constant voltage tap. I did not hook that up, as I just don't ride enough; the battery would have extra drain for no reason (I do realize 25uA isn't squat BTW). I always tender my batteries (rotate weekly between bikes), but just didn't see the point for my install. Plus, the GPS boots pretty quick for me anyways... good luck on your install!

Eleventh South'n Spine Raid 2015
chamberlin replied to Bill Hagan's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
Looks like another fun ride! Looking forward to more pics and stories. BTW, I know Guzzi twins are 'high mileage robust' (with lovin), but how does one keep Veglias alive for that many miles??? Very impressive! Cheers- Joe -
That's one of the nicer Champagne's I've seen!

I like seeing these neat 'transitional' bikes... not really transitional per se, but old style being sold in a model year that had many updates and changes.
-
Thank you so much! It makes all the hard work worth it! Well I do have to say however, that Moto Guzzi has already made what you are talking about. It is called the 1200 Sport. Same bike as the Norge with a bikini fairing and more sporty color pallate.. They are pretty hard to come by in the USA however, but I did see one for sale in my town this year. See the review here: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/moto-guzzi/1200-sport/2006/ The 1200 sport has handlebars and risers, and some neat sport features...but I like my front headlights better I think there are some gearing differences, no ABS (until 2011) and other eletronic differences, but it is basically the same as what I've made. Cheers!

Hi Bob - unfortunately, I don't have but about 40 miles of riding with the full fairing (when I first rode the bike home on day of purchase). I immediately starting tearing into it! So I don't have a good base of reference on the handling. Regardless, I really don't think there's going to be a noticeable difference however....too many other overbearing factors. Right now, I feel like the bike could use a steering dampener. I also feel it's time to get the forks rebuilt too. Feels pretty light up front (at speed), but then again those are huge handlebars on these bikes with lots of leverage! I don't have any low speed handling concerns however, so maybe the bike you rode indeed had a low front tire. I like that photo! A naked Norge is one thing.... but can you pull off a Cafe' Norge??? I would love to see it!

Another one of those crazy owners of low mile special edition bikes that goes balls out on the mods! hehehe (JUST KIDDING SCUD BUDDY!) I mean, honestly... who would put so much money and effort into a bike and then not ride it further than their tank of ethanol-free gas will take them? (batting it back over the net to you...)

Wow that is a huge improvement - looks to be very well engineered. Good customer response, coupled with his leap into the 'internet age' by accepting PayPal, should help his business move forward much quicker! Thanks for the update Scud!

Scud, here's the related link I received this morning from the raresportsbikesforsale blog: http://raresportbikesforsale.com/big-iron-2003-moto-guzzi-v11-le-mans-rosso-corse/ I had to comment on the blog... since they got the bike's name wrong from the ad (and the cylinder arrangement) LOL

Hey guys, I tried attaching to this post, but there is a 200KB limitation... Each page is a 1.4 MB .PDF, so I'm not sure what we can do. I tried making a screen capture in to a .jpg, but that came out like pooh. I don't have the original printed article, but I'll see if I can get my buddy to scan as a .jpg straight away.

Big congrats on saving this Cafe Sport!

Looking to hear more about your GuzziDiag experience...at the moment I am completely in the dark as to what's needed to make CO adjustments, which is I think all my bike really needs now. I'll have to check out that tutorial.

One of our mates here just passed along another old article to me for the Sport Scura... but it's pdf format. Docc, what's the best way to post? And in the file section?

Looking great Scud! Finally got a chance to read through your last few rebuilding pages.....holy cow man that's one lucky LeMans.....rescued and restored! I do like the monochromatic tail-end, look like it matches perfectly. This is a great reference thread! Makes me want to go back and do so more things on my resto-mod.

Thanks czakky! Sorry I haven't posted these in while...but hopefully the above group was worth the wait! BTW, I contacted the guy with the Tenni green Cafe Sport, here is what he had to say: Hi Joe. It's nice to find someone who can appreciate what I have done with the bike. There isn't many Moto Guzzi lovers where I am. Anyway, I bought the bike from insurance agency as it had a damage to the front wheel, forks and speedometer. I replaced the shocks with the ones from MV Augusta . Never liked the speedometer so I got after market one. Brand new wheel. There was no damage to the body but since I always loved the green I went with it. I tried clip ons but the long tank made it impossible to ride it so I went to more original style handlebars. I can take more pictures. Any special angles , pieces ?

Euro-spec bike in Phoenix: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/mcy/5021609870.html It's amazing how many people try to sell stuff on the internet, and can't even spell the name of the manufacturer. Only reason I found this one was through a local buddy of mine who sent it to me.

ANSWERED 2003 V11 Sport Naked - serial number one?
chamberlin replied to chamberlin's topic in 24/7 V11
Thanks very much for the good words! -
Here you go guys! I believe the one I used for my black gauges was the small white on black logo. The two smaller logos are already to go in .png format. The big black logo is just a .jpg -
-
Very nice Scud! I can't remember what tach pulse setting I changed mine too, but I remember it was only one tick off from where it needed to be. Regarding the logos etc., it's just a matter of emailing them your logos and their artist/proofer will get back to you with proofs before they commit to the design. They are very meticulous, and we moved my Guzzi eagle about 3 times (just mm's) before I was happy. Here is what the online configurator looks like. P.s. I'm willing to email anybody here my digital logos that I made for these gauges.
