  1. Mini black hole for you Scud! You just need a sharpie to darken it this time! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251809151935&globalID=EBAY-FR&alt=web BTW, there's a lot of V11 toys models out the but this one is actually quite rare...haven't seen this one before.
  2. LOL - it's a 1972 toaster tank R60/5 (12-'71 production date). Unfortunately I am just storing it for a family member. It needs restoration, but it is a running machine. I've already got a local buyer lined up who is going to completely rebuild it. It's taking up too much room, so I'll be glad to see it go...although it goes nicely with my blue 'n white garage, and the '07 BMW M6 I just picked up!
  3. Oh I hope I can make one of these trips somehow Docc! Well, I *think* the last piece for this project has arrived! Bruno came through with a beautifully finished lower carbon fiber chin. What custom V11 build would be complete without at least one Ghezzi-Brian part! I hope to get it installed this weekend!

  5. I hope to have a beer with you guys one day! Imagine the conversations. Ride, drink, bullshit the night away (in that order!).
  6. You might be right Docc - PE would be the obvious choice for this application (or ABS)...mine are buried on the shelf otherwise I'd go look! I have a spare if anybody wants to buy it for experimentation - edge-guards are neat indeed. BTW, here is a new hugger for sale! http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTO-GUZZI-INNER-REAR-FENDER-MOTO-GUZZI-V11S-/201254710156 For that price, you mind as well go carbon! It appears to be polypropylene: Ahh yes of course, one of the most popular thermoplastics there is! Should have figured.
  7. Here is the link to the coater that did the Quat-D: http://www.performancecoatings.com/index2.html I believe the color was just the Satin Grey. Thanks - I've been working with a very helpful guy at Jet-Hot. They have over-choice on colors and two samples are already on the way (2059 Champagne Gold and 2057 Titanium). OK cool - I think if I had the Quat-D done myself, I would have done a different color. The guy I bought it from had it done in the grey but he never installed the exhaust. It works for my bike's color scheme, but I still would have either done black or something a little more flashy.
  8. Silver: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-v11-Sport-/181633047443 Camo V11!!! http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/4830875774.html

  10. Belly pans, no purpose??? They keep the engine oil from dripping onto my purdy garage floor! LOL
  11. Hey Stew, I'm still on the fence about the mirrors myself! . Just wanted to try something different than my usual Aprilia OEM mirrors I use on everything. I just bought back my Tuono, and the previous owner still had them in the box of goodies I gave him, so I figured what the heck. I do think that they looked pretty damn good on the Tuono way back when: Pic from 2008'ish before I bought the bike the first time round! The rear hugger is the CF piece that Teo Lamers was producing in the Netherlands. I don't know if they still have them made or not. The OEM hugger is just PA6 plastic.
  12. Hahaha, I should have never even tried the Chinese knock-offs, there's no question....bad move indeed. But after that, I just ponied up the cash for OEM vessels, and the peace of mind that goes with them. I do have traditional (and identical) black Rizomas going on the Tuono restoration BTW. I definitely will be doing a non-cell phone photo shoot once the chin spoiler arrives! Here is the link to the coater that did the Quat-D: http://www.performancecoatings.com/index2.html I believe the color was just the Satin Grey.
  13. Haha, I did my swingarm a few days ago as well. I bought a jeep a few years ago that was plastered with stickers….I used your method #1 and made a big mess and took 4 hours. On my Guzzi however, I used my Harbor Freight heat gun, and peeled them right off. I have the Quat-D exhaust, so the swingarm is 100% visible. I couldn’t stand looking at those stickers anymore. I did however take some close up pictures for reference, just in case I forget those very important warnings!
  14. Super nice Cafe Sport!!! A true proper motorcycle advert: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-CAFE-SPORT-/400834290645
  15. This is becoming a black hole! No incoming light can escape!!! LOL BTW, I hacked off my helmet lock too. Cleans up the rear subframe nicely.
  16. Indeed Docc. I think I am starting to feel a little bit better about my 'anal self' after watching this 'darking' thread!
  17. Let me know how that goes docc! I've been jonzing to use it for so long myself, I had to jump in on this thread! Being that this is the holiday season, you could theoretically work in a binary azeotrope comment within the bounds of a 'spirited' conversation about your favorite Christmas time elixir!
  18. I absolutely love the Google Translate pronunciation by the out-of-breath Swedish woman. Is she putting us on or do suspension companies really make Swedish women so out-of-breath? Gheezh! Makes me want to try out some other Swedish words!!! LOL On a related topic, I just picked up my 3rd set of golden forks... I've got the ones on the V11 Sport, and now two complete sets (one slightly better cosmetically than the other) for my Aprilia Tuono conversion I am doing. I'm so scared to check, but these non-radial brake mount Aprilia legs are *awfully* similar to the ones I picked up for the V11. I am scared because I paid only $1000 for one set, and $650 for the other set of Aprilia forks, yet I paid $2250 plus shipping from Netherlands on the V11 set!!! Granted, I did get the rear shock in that deal. But, is it possible that Piaggio group used the exact same fork for the Ohlins equipped V11s, as the Ohlins equipped Aprilias of the same era? Coulda' saved alot of dollars if so! Dare I get out the calipers for comparison? I know the Aprilia versions are 51mm up top which is smaller than the stock Aprilia forks. On the V11, they (kindly) used the same fork diameter for the Marzzochis as the Ohlins...direct swap out. On the Aprilia, you have to change the triple clamps.
  19. P.s. I've tried being the 'internationally flavored' guy amongst my buddies, telling them that it's "Uh-leens" not "oh-lins" but they always laugh me off. I've since given up trying to educate my uncultured troglodyte friends! LOL
  20. Fred, just for clarification: Intially, there is no 'water content' in the ethanol tainted gasoline/petrol. The problem is that the 5-10% ethanol component is hygroscopic, and will bond with ANY atmospheric water vapor. The resultant nasty binary azeotrope will allow moisture to penetrate PA-6 polymer based tanks (i.e. Acerbis pre-rotomolded plastic motorcycle tanks for Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Ducati, KTM etc.) and cause them to swell in all directions. The longer the tank, the more stretching in the length dimension (as a percentage of length). The sludge you refer to that is bad even for steel tanks and other fuel system components, is also a related issue, but it is more of a side effect to the tank swelling (ex. diarrhea in addition to your measles LOL). I've made my own 'pure' gasoline by adding distilled water, then separating out the pure gas from the azeotrope, and then adding back in a strong octane booster called RaceGas (http://race-gas.com/). I bought a brand new virgin tank from Italy, and I refuse to put ethanol in it, and I also do not want to muck up the interior with Caswell. As complete and effective as the phase-separation method is however, it's not exactly a safe 'at home type' process, and I've since decided to just buy K100 for future fill-ups (http://k-100.com/). The only current alternative, is just to keep your tanks dead empty, or 100% full, so no atmospheric water vapor can contact the ethanol 'laced' gasoline. Of course, the best alternative is to petition our governments to stop subsidizing corn ethanol in our fuels!!! Yea right!
  21. Yea docc, don't know why he'd want that ugly Swedish damper when he could have a nice black Italian damper! (you can thank me later docc!).
  22. Wow thanks for the write-up Scud- I like the final product a touch better than my Teo Lamers fender (pictured below), but I gotta say: installing (or removing) the TLM fender is a 4 screw, 30 second operation. p.s. I just wired my payment to Bruno for the chin spoiler...he's a great guy to work with...he's just gotta ditch the wire transfer payment B.S.!
  23. PICS!!!!!!
  24. One of the nicest 2002 Champagne LeMans I've seen: http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/4802682529.html Nice silver 1st gen: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/mcy/4795096980.html
  25. And also, if you wanted to try to buy and fix up that low mileage one in OR, here is a nice fairing on a RM for sale....maybe he is selling the RM too! Shipping from Hawaii though? Hmmmmm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-V11-Sport-Carbon-Fiber-Fairing-/301431509604 BTW looks like the OR bike is in Seattle, but has 20K miles, not 2K miles like we originally thought???>? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-v11-sport-/121508708203
