  1. Reminds me of that song: ”How greeeeeennn are you geeeeaarsss my love”
  2. Nice- one of the better looking modern beeeeemers. I have a 2000 740i E38 myself. 4.4 litre beast, sounds mighty, most of the electrics work, only marginal rust around the rear arches 🙂. A pleasure to drive.
  3. A black bodywork/ red frame?? Take my money!! The foam topper on the tank is a tool rest mate. 👍
  4. The real answer is lucky phil is the winner. His excellent thread on the spring replacement said to ensure precise adjustment of the eccentric prior to re-fitting- which i took note of and realised was my problem when it wouldn’t shift after (the second) installment. There’s not much room for error.
  5. they’re for scratching massive pick-up trucks whilst lane-splitting/filtering 😀
  6. Well the bike itself i don’t have a problem with- his bike to do with as he pleases, and i like certain aspects of it. The write-up however… Points that got me included: 91 hp- Has anyone actually achieved that figure on here? “built before the invasion of complex electronic gadgetry“ - ok so it doesn’t have abs or holeshit technology, but still pretty complex… it’s no monza anyway 😀. No plastic? Literally all the bodywork, including the mudguards and the damn tank, is plastic. Which leads me to: “To further reduce the bikes weight (something V11’s are notorious for) Omar continued the use of aluminium for the remainder of the bodywork”. Changing these parts to allyminnyum is gonna save no weight at all. Plus the genuinely heavy components like the wheels, swingarm and bevel drive remain. “sportsbike handling” … now i love my v11, and i’ll throw her about (a bit), but c’mon. “more creative design than what the Moto Guzzi factory gave it” @#!#$# off- Marabese created a triumph of lines and shapes with this bike.
  7. @mikev You’ll likely get different answer from people on that. Personally I think if the bike’s running nicely it doesn’t matter.
  8. I’ve gotta share this V11 custom build write-up. As I read it my eyebrows went up and up and i think they went over the top of me head and fell off behind me. Soooo much absolute bull… https://www.returnofthecaferacers.com/moto-guzzi-cafe-racer/moto-guzzi-v11-cafe-racer/?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR27foPMCvc7c5RvCXFCFeGFryPm4ZIzVGk6xu7d-jE6D-Bf_yLFcEgwnXI#Echobox=1667972378
  9. Docc’s point about the lever adjustment bears reiterating- I’d say take a bit of time to find the setting that gives you the smoothest action- my experience is that makes a surprising difference.
  10. Yeah man. Just take it off- you can access the rear of the tranny too to give it a good clean (swingarm as well), and also refresh your clutch fluid whilst you’re there cos why not? 🙂
  11. what about: ”You expect me to talk?!?” ”Noo Mister Bond: I expect you to laser-engrave your yolks!”
  12. “Well you know, that’s just, like, your opinion man”. -The Dude
  13. They’re the best sounding cans i’d say, if probably not the best looking… especially mine as the left one has crash rash 😠
  14. Yep. I really wanted to site mine ‘inboard’ but just could not wangle them in there. With the bodywork in place i can just about poke a driver down to nip up if required.
  15. Here’s the doings, could groom the wires a wee bit more maybe, but it was a fun little project.
  16. Okey doke, i’ll see about that after work tomo
  17. The electrical messing about continues 😀. I really was getting fed up struggling with the 4 wires to each battery terminal. So I fitted 2 busbars (is that the correct term? Terminal blocks? Battery blocks?) to allow a single wire to each of the battery terminals. Handmade from bits of this and that and cobbled together. They fit on either side of the frame, inside the rear fairing ‘wings’. Battery disconnects/re-connects really quickly and easily now- bit like my monza ha!
  18. is the eccentric adjuster improperly set?
  19. Hello rev, i’ve literally just replaced mine this month. I ended up ordering an Electrosport 515 through a company called KGB Motorcycle Distribution. I’m in Sheffield myself and the unit arrived really promptly after ordering. It’s pricier than the chineesium(?) cheapo ones at £130 but looks pleasingly well made and working well for a few hundred miles now. Stewart.
  20. Ah ha! Of course! 😬 Thanks man, I have a koso combined clock that only has one warning lamp. I had decided to wire it up to the oil warning rather than the battery warning. So naturally i was not warned when my reg failed haha. I think i’ll pop a lamp somewhere to wire it up to. For me, every day is an eleckrickity-learning day.
  21. Fitted a new regulator, an Electrosport 515 unit which was supplied by KGB motorcycle distribution. Much like their russian namesakes they were surprisingly efficient and I had it in hand within 48hours of ordering it. Wired it up fine despite my lack of knowledge… and it seems to be functioning… although i do wonder what that white wire is for 😐 … any clues anyone?
  22. As a minnow in this field (er, or err, a baby wabbit in this pond?), I’d just like to draw our attention to just how fucking beautiful the design of the modern brake caliper is. A damn triumph of simple and effective design. So few parts, so reliable, so easy for a home mech to service. The ins and outs of the gradual refinements are interesting if it pertains to your personal use of them, but it’d be sad to see us fall out over it!
  23. And for full enjoyment it’s best to assemble and fill with oil, then find the wee circlip when you’re tidying up. Then, for extra magic ace-ness, assemble again, fill with oil again, then find out that you’ve nudged the eccentric out of whack. Can’t beat doing it a few times to really get speedy at doing it 😀
  24. Absolutely, there’s quite a range of ergonomics available between low clips, high clips and ‘proper’ handlebars.
