Hooray my replacement clock has arrived. I'll take pics + document the fit just in case it's useful for anyone else. So, old clocks are now removed, including speedo cable which was severed at the yolk-end right where that wicked bend lies. When I unscrewed the end at the tranny, it released a good amount of rain water which I assume wasn't helping the longevity of the cable. Plus, at the back of the clocks, one speedo wire and two tacho wires were severed... who knows why, but that'll be the flickering lights then eh? The wiring colours on my bike differ from the previous threads I've read, so here's my bike's colour-scheme: PINK - TURN R BROWN - H/BEAM GREEN - TURN L BLACK/BLUE - OIL PURPLE - NEUTRAL WHITE/YELLOW - FUEL As I've the Ballabio handlebars, yet have a sport headlight fitted, the front end looks kinda empty without the OE clocks. The new unit is reet cool + compact looking so I'm wondering how best to fit it, aesthetically. It has a fuel meter like the other Koso units; as no-one seems able to hook them up to our beautiful, desirable beasts, I'm thinking of maybe retaining the fuel light and mounting it separately off to one side. Tomorrow I start the installation and amateur fotograffy. Stew

When first I got my V11, I had a (bad) habit of giving her a little throttle when starting her up... Eventually I found out that this was causing some sort of back-pressure-pulse, putting strain on the boots/clips and causing them too eventually pop off. At least, that's what I thought was happening.... I don't do it anymore and my boots stay put. Thought I'd share... Stew

Nice one Stuart, I'm almost looking forward to pretending to be an 'trician now. I'm going to need a round back-box or cup, whatever, to fit my unit... Getting one that's something like could be difficult.

Yes, ignition switch- isn't it normally fitted with a 10a fuse?? A couple of the the Clever Electrickery Eggs'll be along to enlighten you soon enough. Sounds like you disturbed a lot of the wiring etc, might be worth going through it and checking nothing's pinched or come loose? Stew
-
See you went for the GT over the ST- probably a good move. Profile looks ok, no? Could you post a pic looking at the back of the bike when it's fitted?

Do cheeky buggers pinch fuel these days? I remember it once was a concern for lockless pekky-tanks.

My 180 avon took some cursing to fit... Loving that fat behind though!

Steve, what problems did you have with the OE cap? Did you change it just for aesthetics? Stew

Watching with interest as my koso cafe-combined is due any day now... Stu, what front-wheel set-up have you put in place? I did ask the forum about this but got no response (I went for the magnets in the end). Stew

No kidding, they go from 'hmm, looks a bit worn', to 'eek! it's a terminator tyre!' in no time. I put Avon 3d's on mine and they are bloomin marvelous- best tyres I've ever used.

Haa! Ok I'm being mean, but she is wont to pout a tad.... I can imagine saying "Now then lass, just hold this big heavy motorbike whilst I sit on it, and get a measure- accurate mind- without dropping it". Then the lip coming out, worried brow-lines raising and heavy uncertainty showing in the body language. I need a big, strong man in my life.

Mmm, never set sag before, always just got on and rode it... Doesn't it take a couple or three people to sit/hold/measure the bike? All I have is one small, petulant wife.

Really nice! I've got a set of those pannier racks- they're well good. The soft panniers are great too, if not particularly waterproof, with a real sweet latch system. I see the alt cover's been painted; that's on my list too! Stew

Hopefully! Sheffield roads got hammered a few winters ago and they're yet to repair most of them. Bike suspension takes a thumping round these parts. I went for the black sproing (Scud will approve!) and, whilst I was feeling generous towards myself, also got one of these ordered: http://www.moorespeedracing.co.uk/cafe-racer-guages/koso-combined-guage-for-cafe-racer.html Also in black with a black bezel for my black, black heart. Looking forward to cursing quietly at first, then progressively longer and louder as I attempt to fit the b*stard. Stew

Well I wanted a Nitron but they don't make them for our bikes. So I too have a Hyperpro on order, hooray, but apparently there's a 4-5 week wait. Booo. Might have to take paso up on his offer of shock-loanage as we're getting some nice sunshine rolling in. (Are you a whisky drinker paso?) Yet again Maxton showed no interest....

Mine's a ballabio with the stock handlebars + pegses (but the screen removed so it looks like a sport). It's duckin great. Only when I'm really tankin along at motorway speeds, 100 - 120mph, do I wish I had rearsets and clips. I have found that the pillion pegs can be used as rearsets... after a fashion! Then I saw these which are sorely tempting me: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131329992767?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Oh, I'm a scrawny 5'11" with reet long plasterers arms.

"Top Speed 136 (claimed)" I have personally taken mine right round the clock 'till it would not go any further. Which must be at least 140, 145... Then the clock broke.

Hee hee! "Eleven pointers"?? No idea. Who the hell intends to brake, change gears and corner simultaneously? Learn to ride perchance... Personally I like the vibes. I was chucking a fuktonne of old mags- this was a 1999 issue of Ride magazine. So poss the initial release of the v11? That's all it got. tsk. In 1999, in the UK, bike magazines generally catered solely for sportsbikes and sportbike riders. Occasionally they did a write-up on sports-tourers, buuut they were really thinking of sportsbikes while they did it.

Damn, I resisted like a gud 'un...

Haaa! Retro-satire AND pastiche??!! Colour me tickled pink!

Found an old magazine with a somewhat askance opinion of our beloved machine...

Yeah! I though the v11 was bad for it... then someone pulled away on his Benelli Tornado! Another reet purty machine for sure, but sounded like a bag o washers loose in his gearbox! Haa! -

Yep, a good 8 or so Vincents there. Most very very shiny, my favourite was the well ridden, rusty one. -
Cor! Sounds like a boo hoo moment. Poss not great on the uj's either? Mine feels a mile long. And hea-vee as hell. Hmmmm, there's no oil in my shock- would that make a hoist easier?
