  1. Wotta shitheap! Wotcher want to buy one of those for??? ;-)=). Pete
  2. Just to give anyone the 'Heads Up' I'm currently in almost full time 'Carer' mode for my Mum In Law. I actually have very little time to spend on my 'Biz-nizz' so my recommendation is to go and see John or Dave. I'm more than happy to try and help people out if they have tuning or other problems that they are having issues with and their dealers can't addess them but at the moment most of my 'Business' time is spent trying to help people out with warranty shit on the newer bikes and development work on improvements for the W5.9AM controller and FI system. Effectively MotoModa is open almost in name only and will be for, well, I suppose the forseeable future. Sorry, but Mum comes first. As I say though if people are stuck I'm more than happy to try and help but time is at a real premium right now so lead times may be long and I may not be able to turn stuff over as quickly as folks would like. Having said that both Dave and Jon are top notch. While Jon doesn't have axcess to the re-mapping options of the Axone tool he does have the Texa multi dealer kit which means he can do all the V11 stuff like accurately setting the TPs, adjusting the idle trim etc. Dave is an Aprilia and Guzzi service agent and both are a.) Smart and b.) Conscientious and I unhesitatingly recommend either of 'em for Guzzi work. Pete
  3. I can sort of drive a lathe and perform simple milling operations but that's about the size of it. Spindles, spacers, shims packing, that sort of stuff but I farm out real work to people who know what they're doing Pete
  4. If you are unsure of checking by 'feel' use a one thou larger and one thou smaller guage as 'Go'/'No-Go' guages. Basically though it isn't super-critical. s long as it will go in and doesn't flap about like a cock in a sock you're close enough. Pete

    MPG...

V11 is in a much higher state of tune than the earlier bikes. 850 Lemans 55HP, 1000S (Big valve.) low sixties, V11, Mid seventies. Pete
  6. By the time I'd landed it here it would be nearly $4,400! Ouch! Last year the exchange rate was a lot better. Pete
  7. When you get here, (Or before.) Gimme a call +61417462440 from overseas or 0417 462 440 when you land in Shitney. Pete
  8. The 2 into 1 into 2 system this bloke makes is drop dead gorgeous. Problem is that you have to be in some sort of inner circle before you can get your hands on the goodies. I tried for a while before I just gave up as even with Paul's help I couldn't get anywhere, bit like Rapid Bike Another bunch of non-responders. Price as I remember was very high and you need to get his modified rear cowl and reposition the indicators and stuff foir them to fit. Also luggage is a no-no. I would of been up for all of that and had cash waiting. Unfortunately you can't give money to silence. Pete
  9. You chose a poxy time of year! If you're coming soon that is, middle of winter and more likely to be wet and horrid. Lots of bike shops in Sydney of course but Guzzi dealers are thin on the ground. I'm about 2 and 1/2 hours South and I'm just a small workshop that at the moment is not doing a lot as I'm in virtual full time care mode for my Mum in Law who has Parkinsons and Vascular Dementia but If you'd like to drop up for a chinwag I can offer you a ride about on my 8V Griso and Aprilia Mana, (Providing you understand that these are my personal bikes and not just 'Demonstrators' to be thrashed mercilessly to 'See what they'll do!'.). John Viton at Motocicolo in St. Peters is good value but he's very busy and doesn't really have time to just stand around chewing the fat. Pete
  10. Clutch life will depend very much on how it is used but from what I'm hearing the later RAM clutches only come with the Bronze plate and that makes them less of a long term proposition. Having said that 34,000Km out of a plate that has to do what the RAM does in a V11 isn't outrageous. Personally I preffer the twin plater which is why I've got one in my Scura but most people who ask me I state that is an option and why I preffer it and they'll still go for a RAM single plater Pete
  11. Big outer seal in a Cali bevelbox is a $30, 20 minute job. Inner seal is a $35-50 job and a couple of hours if you know what you're doing. Warrantying it should take a couple of days but I'd do it and sort the money out later, not worth the grief from the loss of goodwill. Pete
  12. While I've heard of loads of Scura flywheels going tits up and seen several this is the first time I've heard of a Tenni one letting go and I heard rumours of ONE RM one going bang. Since the components are, to the best of my knowledge, common to all these bikes it doesn't surprise me really. I think that the lack of failures on the Tennis and RM's is probably more to do with riding style. I'm 100% with DeBen on this, the twin plater doesn't really sacrifice anything and my Scura is a wheely-monster, perhaps a little extra flywheel weight is actually a benefit in these circumstances Pete
  13. God's teeth! The longest I've EVER had to wait for stuff from Italy is about five weeks! I'm at the arse end of the earth for God's sakes! OK, if it is something really *odd* you're waiting for? Maybe, but I doubt it can be. Mind you I reckon I'm probably the only service agent or dealer in the country with the possible exception of MArio in Perth who has stuff like a vclutch plate for the new single plate clutch in stock and stuff like 8V rocker cover gaskets, throttle cables etc. Pete
  14. It took them about eight years to add an oil filter. After that it took about 25 years of un-neccessary whinging and grizzling by people who carried on like little girls at the beach with sand in their twats to change the sump arrangement so you could access the filter without removing the sump. Still people grizzled because you needed a 'special' filter wrench and needed to remove the 'MAnhole Cover' to get to the filter so after another nine years the re-design the sump again so you don't have to remove the 'Manhole cover' but you still need the 'Special' wrench available at any 'Wottalotacrap Auto' for twenty bucks or less and guess what? People are still Grizzling! HTFU PEOPLE! IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!!! Pete
  15. It's NOT F#CKING ROCKET SCIENCE!!! No doubt Hubert will now tell us that we don't need to worry and that I'm simply trying to damage Guzzi's reputation... Pete
  16. Yes, We blew a motor on our racer because of pick up exposure, it's an older tTonti but was running an early, filterless pick-up that suffers from the same problem as the V11. If you use high throttle/low RPM you a.) won't be accelerating very hard and probably won't risk pick up exposure and b.) WILL be giving greater opportunity for gas to blow by the rings and pressurise the case which can lead to oil expulsion, especially if your engine is over-filled and doubly so if the rings aren't seated because the original owner rode it like the red-line was at 4,000RPM. There is a mark on the tacho, I think it is a red line? It's at about 8,000 on a V11 I think. That's your gear change indicator. If riding hard? Use it as such. If riding *normally* ride between 3,250 and 6,500 and DON'T EVER give it large throttle below about 3,000 because it is mean to the motor and will achieve nothing. Pete
  17. Ex-factory they were horribly under sprung that's all. Real springs don't cost much. Pete
  18. Errr. 360 degrees Ratch As long as the spindles slipped out easily you would have to of been on the correct stroke. If you had to force them then there is a chance the valves were on the rock. My guess is that the gaskets have just compressed down during the re-torque and taken out the clearance. Loosen the adjuters a tad, (But you should only need to do this by a small amount, not a couple of turns.). Once you have them back in and adjusted turn the crank back and forward 30 degrees or so to either side of TDC. If the valves move at all you've set 'em on the wrong stroke. Pete
  19. Not sure but I reckon its got a snapped pinnion. Pete
  20. Please see below an example of a 12 year old Piaggio 'Engineer', 're-designing' the Scura clutch for RAM. I tried to find one of the 'Scroll Beeltes' and 'Fiscal Geniuses' who took the decision to replace AC3 Bearings in the five speed with ATN9's and purchase 8V tappets from 'Wottalotacrap Pizzeria and Nitriding Works' but they're hiding at the moment. I'll ferret 'em out and post later. Enjoy! Pete
  21. Problem is the switch operates at about 2psi! If its working properly and oil pressure is getting that low there are major engine problems. Pete
  22. Dunno. You can't misalign the trunnions on a CARC bike shaft as the shaft is a one piece unit. It is retained at the front by a circlip on the output shaft that retains the yoke on the shaft and the bevelbox end is free to move it's yoke on the pinion shaft. Unlike the Bimmer system where the whole bevelbox pivots on a couple of bearings at the front of the box with the CARC the crownwheel 'Bridge' for want of a better word sits inboard of the bearings that carry the crownwheel and moves with it. It's hard to explain, very easy to understand when you look at it. I've got one in bits at the moment, would you like me to post some pics? Pete
  23. Yup. I can confirm that. Hubert? Both Greg and I, maybe a few others too, have access to the on-line parts and service sites. Why? Because we are service agents or work at dealers. Why would we BOTHER making stuff up? Pete
  24. I think he's talking about the early R series twins without the reactive drive. I'm not overly familiar with them but I believe they only use a single coupling. Pete
  25. Throw a switch at it beacause they're dirt cheap and dead easy. Stick a pressure gauge on it and check the presure when hot. If it's low disassemble and clean the OPRV and check its crack pressure. If it's still low after all that it has to be the pump really. Pete
