  1. Silly me, I misread or misinterpreted what I read. It looks a lot bigger with you stood on it. The picture I found didn't give a sense of scale. Thinking about I should have realise it would at least be "manhole" size not dinner plate. Oh and I liked your analogy with the goblet.
  2. ? Is that Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, seem to be the ones that match the description, and consistant with your NM address. On "my" little island I tend tp forget just how big the USoA is, and how varied the topology can be across a state. Must dip back into Dan's trip reports. You Guys must be pissing yourself with my tales of daring do on the Round Britain Rally I'm going to google the four corner states now - surely there must be some sort of marker/monument? Edit- found it wasn't difficult No chance of a picture of your Guzzi with it, apparently it's inside a building.

or unless your Japanesse isn't up to scratch http://transatlanticclothing.com/ I had tried their alternative aeroleatherclothing.com but was having problems getting the page to load
  4. I my flu'ed up state I think it's the negative terminal to disconect first, and reconect last. So if you hapen to brush against the frame etc when doing the positive it won't make the circuit. All the positive stuff should be protected by the ignition switch anyway so won't be live beyond that point. An optimate is on my christmas wish list
  5. On my brand new bike they handn't located the bulb correctly on instalation. When I blew a bulb I also found that the bulb can be seated incorrectly in the quality holder which allows the wrong filament to light. But it I think it may also been the bulb. I think the 21w filament did cause the fuse to blow, so this doesn't seem to be your problem. But worth checking.
  6. Room booked. Tried to use the internet booking form yesterday but it didn't seem to take so did it with the telephone this morning.
  7. I thought that next years GMG would be the big celebration. But they're not very good at promotion, will have to wait till the summer for info. Meanwhile I will have used all my leave and brownie points up on other trips.
  8. Mine falls apart on its own accord, and also aided and abetted by my
  9. Aren't Bentleys Straight 8s , well theres a garage in the New Forest called Straight Eight anyway I think it will be a size thing, a V will be more compact.
  10. Universal Joint.
  11. And it comes out of the floor none of this continental out of the dash board, or American (steering) column please
  12. The other classics are resting foot on clutch and hand on stick shift (there I can speak Yank ) take up the slack and cause thrust bearing wear etc
  13. Ah the avatar bug strikes, it's still there and I've just refreshed, but I did save a copy just incase try this attatchment
  14. My take is that, motorcycle gearboxes because of the way that they are designed can clutchless change. The advantage is mainly for racers who gain fractions of seconds. The clutch removes the loading on the gearbox enabling it to change smoother and may well reduce the impact of the dogs etc. The clutchless change may increase the wear. (certainly when you get it wrong) I think if you compare a racer box that might even get ratios changed for different tracks and the life span of the bike any increase wear will be acceptable To me there is no advatage in clutchless changes in normal riding. I have done it in the past but wouldn't do it in all circumstances so why bother at all. Handy to have a go so if your clutch cable or hyrdraulic seals go you can still ride home. Watch out for finding neutrals when you need to stop
  15. You'll be starting an oil thread next
  16. That's the Arrow, the one above is the Leader, same bike different tin work. I think there was either a super, silver or golden arrow but can't remember which
  17. This is in the Quiz forum. Therefore if you can guess which seller he is on about you get a Quiz point. But a vague post from out of the blue by a brand new member with no provenance. Going down a topic which could end up with being asked to divulge payment details smacks to be of potential phishing. So call me a cynical old git but it's what I do. I could be wrong, but I'm safe and I don't use ebay either. EDit- the posters third post wasn't there when I started my reply. It is now and would give more credance to his request. But you are all big boys and girls and just be careful. And I apologise if I have done you a disservice "theoneandonly"
  18. Here is some useless info on the Arial - the ports are very steeply angled so if you do a rebore it totaly throws the port timing - apparently.
  19. Very arty - though it seems that your engine mounting bolts are loose, and you've got a bit of a slapper on
  20. I worked that bit out, but finding the source and giving hope to the Teknoless
  21. Any one say cookies? Take it that there's no donuts?
  22. Here's mine frost coated at 0815 this am, Luckily not the 0615 if I was on day shift. I hope to be able to get her back into the garage next week. But the car looks more tempting for the commute in on days like this.
  23. I hope I'm settling down to rear tyre and brake pad 6,000 and bearing if it must at 12,000 (yearly).
  24. In the past I got the place that does my car tyres to do the bikes loose wheel, but they don't touch them anymore following a complaint/pay out over allegedly damaging a triumph rim. I'd best ask around or risk my tyre levers
  25. Okay perhaps I did exagerate Just dug out the invoice - hours labour 40.00 sundries/oil/lubes 3.00 enviromental disposal 3.00 tyre disposal 5.00 front tyre 111.92 rear tyre 141.92 discount 15% -37.91 Totaled 266.03 vat 46.58 gross 312 .61 I was expecting about the £200 mark. might take it back to OYB at least they were about £120 fitted during a service, though that wasn't cheap. At those prices a new headlight looks good value.
