  1. In the UK we have the Sales of Goods Act 1974 (? on the year) it states that an item must be fit for the purpose sold for. Even out side of the warranty if the clutch plates are failing in this manner ( it's not reasonable wear and tear or specified as a service item (is it)) after moderate mileages. I would argue that it's not fit for purpose.
  2. ? Why waiting till 18? Can ride at 17. Is because of cheaper insurance, Birthday present or leading into better weather (March on wards)? Obviously with the stepped licencing you will be looking at just something to start her off with and then encourage her to move on to a CBF250 or CB500 (33 neutered) type As a gangly 6'00" 17 year old ( not quite 1/4 a century ago) I started off on a Yamaha RS100. I thought it was a great bike. Obviously they no longer do this and it's not a 125. Dropped it twice on ice and gravel slight scrape on flexible mounted indicators , solid foot rests mounts and no other damage. The advantage of a light weight. I then went to a RD200. It was only having gone through my XJ550 and on to the FJ1200 did I have a bike that I didn't dwarf according to my friends. But at the time they all rode all right. but I didn't like riding the smaller bike having got used to the bigger one. She should fit anything, but avoid the sports ones just purely because of the CBT. Trail bikes - tend to be slightly larger and more roomy will have lots of lock for the round the cones CBT. and you will need lots of locks as thieving scum love them. Valdero - advantages of a trail bike, but has lots of body work vulnerable in a drop. Very expensive. Looks like a bigger bike, which has it pros and cons, Cruisers - need I go on. Roadsters - CG125 Honda dull as ditch water, but would plod on for ever or the slightly more exciting YBR125 Yamaha. Or even Van Van Suzuki type things. Most seem to be 4strokes though Yamaha DT125 is a stroke though I don't think it's learner legal (12bhp). I would look and just see whats available and what she likes. Look for a lightly used roadster or trail bike, with a view of passing test and moving on. Might be more expensive to stick with the big 4 than go with a Huosong or similar, but you'd get a better price when chopping it in and probably lose less over all (depending on drop damage) What did you learn on? Pre 250 limit; two part test; 125 limit; stepped licence or even a sidecar (had you considered that ( sorry I do find combinations almost an object of ridicule in these days of small cars))
  3. Upright, thou the really clever people (allegedly)do it once make sure its right then do it again on the side stand and put a notch in the dip stick so in future they only ever have to do it on the side stand
  4. Spots, checks or stripes?
  5. So we'll see you at the Erin in June?
  6. Hey , Noggers, They're in Aylesbury just up the road from you
  7. Not wishing to nit pick - is that not the Ventura Bike Pack ? Bagster doing either the tank harness and bags, or a wopper tail pack or throwover saddle bags, none of which have a frame. I have a Bagster Tank bag and the Tecno paniers and contemplating adding the Bike Pack to my rig to replace my Oxford Tail pack
  8. 9-11 June Do you think its time to start a thread for next years event
  9. As many Tenni as other models as witnessed above. and hundreds in this one So in this post out number others by 3 to 1
  10. You mean it stayed on topic for a whole page. That is good going currently Talking of currents how are we doing on the with the high voltage alternator. I was going to suggest solar cells to supplement it to power the electric clothing, but then realised that sunshine and electric clothing are mostly mutually excluding
  11. On the earlier models the bulb shroud would become detatched from the reflector. To all intents and purposes if your pice has come of the inside face of the lens it sounds as it it must have been weak and taken some sort of knock that's caused it to come off but not punctured the lens. This would be consistant with last weeks thread on Lancasters as used by Barnes Wallace to use the shock wave principle to breach the Rhur dams.
  12. All working great for me anyway, Had a little browse and the peek at the pictures, will go back later and give it my full attention.
  13. Was not mine, My first had fallen apart when the first rear was changed. (6000m) The replacement was fine at the next change(1200m) and I'm due for a new rear any day now (17,200m). When I had it up on the shop stand a couple of weeks back I tested it for wear by push/pull the top/bottom of the wheel , whilst there was no visable movement I could feel a very slight notch. But I'm not sure if this is within acceptable limits?
  14. Yes, I'm going.
  15. I trust that they are not just pictures of the weather but they say something rude in Windings font?
  16. No the Puffin is for the supercharged two stroke direct injection engine
  17. He's gone and taken it out I suppose for a TIME it was funny. Betya weren't expecting that link.
  18. And half a photo to emphasise the point A handy thread about bodging
  19. I thought the Tenni also had a single plate clutch. Is it a common part to all three models? Are all the breakages confined to Scuras, which is a later model than the Rosso Mandello and Tenni? There are more Scura than RM and Tenni combined. Is this just probabilities working then selves out? Or a bad batch something change in the manufacture/handling or even the person doing the assembling? We are talking about a dozen failures in runs of 600/300/170 are we not? 2% (Scura only) - 1.1%( All single plate) Risk assessment but could be catastrophic if it goes big time.
  20. John, Sorry to hear about your clutch. I hope it went at the end of your trip and not to severly impact on it. Good thing you checked it when you did before it took engine cases out. I'm not to sure about the corner of shame that just might cause it to sulk and do it again. But have a good ride back when she's fixed
  21. I hope it lasts. We have our little ups and downs. But I love mine despite the occasional niggle.
  22. But a tragic loss.
  23. Our day out together was great and I to am looking forward to doing it again in the spring. I liked the picture looking down on your Tenni and back on that lovely S bend before the lay by. Glad you got your tyre sorted and able to get some more riding in before you had to head back
