  1. I did 1700 miles in all since thursday. I checked the oil prior to setting off, and topped up so was at mid point. The light flickered on during a hill (very steep) start after 600 miles. Then did it again a couple of hundred miles later the next day. And today did it twice again on a pull away, but no hill required. So i picked up a bottle of oil. I decided as I didn't wish to pour most of it over the engine cases i would wait till the light came on again before attempting to add it. I will let you know how much I've used but I had to go to work so won't be topping up till at least tomorrow
  2. We were lunching in the park, saw you going north on the N8. We were going east on the N72.
  3. my oil sender failed - was good news - see shock horror thread , and was replaced. I can't shed any light on what went wrong with it. so not much use here. Other than to say the switches can be suspect
  4. Keith, you'll be six hours behind me. Do me a favour and pick up any bits of my bike that have fallen off. glad that you could get it all to drop into place. See you there.
  5. Have BBC NI on at the minute, only a half hour highlights programme just finished. Probably won't watch the next one on Wednesday though as off to Ireland early the next day.
  6. Was it good? (Joke arrives two months late)
  7. I'll give it a miss, early to bed early to rise and set off to see you at the Erin. Thursday in southern and mid Wales before the overnight ferry. Real Guzzi time much better than watching the box
  8. Just watched the repeats of the BSB from Croft, and the Moto GP, some good racing. BFG or Big J, are BBC NI showing any TT ? or did I miss it, due to the clash with Kids TV, like the Lions match. Don't have a TV listings magazine as been on holiday over half term, I'll try and pick one up tomorrow, but by Tuesday they'll be gone to make space for next weeks. In a fit of Union Jack waving wish for a rotary Norton with after burner. We can fudge the maths on working out the capacity . I know the name is now owned or licenced by Americans. but its the best we could do. Unless Triumph go racing with a Tripple and they've seemed have learn't that they can't keep up commercialy with the year on year changes required by the race rep sports bike market. Aprilla almost succeded with the RSV.
  9. Thankyou but I'm on nights this weekend but then two weeks off, Half term with the kids and then finish the second off with the ERIN and some Round Britain Rally
  10. In February I picked up an Arai SV in Frost , a matt black or very dark grey I thought it would've complemented a Scura. The most important thing is how it fits your head. A long time ago I tried a Shoei and it didn't. I found the Arai did. Then it comes down to how you get on with the visor, vents, fastening and colour. Last weekend I couldn't resist an Arai Astro R in ReEntry ( orange face with yellow flame effect on a dark blue base) at half price. Thats two this year and my previous an Arai Quantum E lasted 10 before FM , Nava (polycarb) Stadium, Boeri, and an open face all alot cheaper and didn't last or fit as well, But thiings move on. I'll justify the newer helmet for winter riding when the brighter colour makes it more visable, improved venting and the little drop down wind deflector bit at the front that helps kep your neck warmer. I miss that on the SV on cold mornings. No help on AGV sorry looks nice though my mate did look at them at the BMF, I thought the visor mechanisum was a bit fidly and didn't like the pin lock ( he also bought an ReEntry)
  11. getting nothing on my abacus try the slide rule - still no better stuck on 1280x1024 on this machine - looks like a wheelie but cant get more than that now scrolled to the top and can see the small image moral of the story - make sure you've read the whole post so you don't prove that you are as big an idiot as you really are - but you've allready been able to make your minds up from my previous posts
  12. I am of no help here But I feel for Bill, the gearbox spring last year on the billybob and now this. I would understand it if he gave up on guzzi. It all depends on how many miles he has put in else where on each bike. I know I ocasionaly have adulterous thoughts as I shed exhaust components about the country side, and other minor niggles, and watch the paint either blister or fall off. Last year for the international V11 I took out single foriegn trip RAC cover (£35). Belt and braces as still had the Euro assistance that came with the bike, nothing like trust the product! I will almost certainly be taking out the years cover (£85 I think) to cover the Erin (still have Euro assistance for this one) and the GMG (though Debs has now raised objections to a week away)
  13. Rover was sold for £10, Ok the 4 that put up £2.50 each apparently made millions before the house of cards came down. was that 40 million lira or euros
  14. Came across (sic) this Photomosaic picture web site today Bikes featured also include the Breva, Griso, Bassa, Quota and Cali on http://www.boobsandbikes.com/motorcycle.htm If you haven't worked out what the "tiles" are made of click here for close up detail I have a Photomosaic jigsaw of a a lion made up of other big cats and a print of Waterhouse's Hylas and the Nymphs. I some how don't think I'll be getting one of these. No 02 Lemans in black
  15. Each to their own
  16. On Saturday went to the BMF Show Last year the I saw one other Guzzi there, a T5 Spada in the car park. This year loads. despite it being wet went around the club stands. There were a couple amongst the sidecar people, The owners club with a couple of Mk1 Lemans and some singles. and at least one exhibitors road bike parked next to their stand. And a DEALER !!!! Haywards of Cambridge had a stand , they've only been into Guzzi for a couple of years and have added them to their Royal Enfield consession. The 1100 Breva was getting some attention. Had two one red and a grey one with fairing and panniers. When I went to work the following day one of the ladies there said her husband has seen the Breva and was considering it as his next bike No V11s or Calis

On hitting pot holes and other large road deffects. gives it a good thump. think it bottoms out. No complaints on the day to day handling- I've not yet adjusted my suspension yet only had it 2 months shy of 2 years. will get around to it one day
  18. Unfortunatly its not far off the truth, my balance pipe fell of yesterday, but more of that later
  19. Any updates, saw the Breva at the BMF yesterday, Haywards had two a grey one with fairing and panniers and red one. looked nice. A 750 Breva and a Nevada. No V11 and I'm not sure about a cali I think so but don't quote me. So "They're here"
  20. As long as it's not a lorry into his braking space on approach to a roundabout, go for it
  21. Keith, Thanks for the kind offer. The ferry gets in to Fishguard 0045hrs Monday. I think thats going to be too late to take you up on your offer. But I'll pop in for a cuppa either during the day on Thursday or Monday at a more social hour depending exactly where you are. I'm sure you won't be too far off my meandering route. I had thought that you were in Herefordshire - and then I remember the Cymru Martin

At a svelte 250lbs, mine just bottoms out on occasion, but i do have a good sprung to unsprung ratio
  23. My kill switch brushes against the tank bag on full lock. I've allways been able to get a foot down so haven't dropped it. But it's not what you want if u turning on a short stretch of road and you're suddenly stuck across the carrige way waiting for oncomming traffic
  24. Looking forward to the Erin I will be setting off on the Thursday morning taking in the RBR check points in south Wales and catch the overnight Fishguard/Roslarne Ferry. Its only a 3 hour crossing so not really going to get much sleep on it. On the way back I'm getting the Sunday evening ferry, will have to find some where on the return to kip and try and do north Wales before heading back to Hertfordshire for a night shift. I haven't worked out the expected distance yet. Still pondering over routes
