I got mine from motomecca a year ago and have previously posted the link http://www.motomeccaspares.co.uk/illustrated/luggage.php but this link is now dead and they are no longer listed on their site. Perhaps they are nolonger available.

Jaap started a thread GMG last September but has rapidly slipped out of sight. I'm planning on going, my leave is booked and I have permission from Debs. I've not yet made any travel plans. We're looking at having some major building works done this year ( pales in comparison to Bill's Garage (Bill where are you? Don't tar us all with the same brush)) That may or may not impact on the trip. I'll hopefully be talking to a few people at the Erin regarding the trip and will be looking at finalising my arrangements shortly after that.

I'm going tonight with my mate from work to Sawbridgeworth bmw in Hertford

My left mirror fell off whilst riding the other night. The plastic cup which holds the glass has a hollow ball part through which the metal mount passes and is clamped by a nut holding the spring against an internal metal cupped washer, against the mirror holder and then an external cup fixed on the stem. My hollow ball part developed a crack which spread and allowed the internal cupped washer to slip through. The mirror to flop and work its way up the spring. I pulled it off before it fell right off. I haven't tried to make a warranty claim on this as there are a couple of small scratches on the end of the mirror where it’s brushed against the garage wall. I don't know if that would have been enough to start the fracture or if it’s where I keep knocking against it, squeezing past the bike in my crowded garage, with my long range hump. I normally have to adjust it at the start of every ride. I have a replacement mirror on order. They had it in stock but I'm getting it shipped with another part which is currently out of stock. So I have affected a temporary repair. Used a hot air gun to warm the holder to remove glass. Undid the nut to remove spring and internal cupped washer. and reassemble in correct order. Again using hot air gun to facilitate replacing the glass. Squeezed holder so that sets tight. The split has opened up so it’s a compromise between tightness and size of split. I’ve wound insulating tape around the ball to try and hold it together. Will have to see how effective it is. I initially tried to remove the glass cold. I knew the hot water trick but I'm a fundamentally lazy git, and there was a far amount of slack, so put a crack in the glass. If I didn't have the one on order I would have warmed it first probably. There is worse news Debs caught me in the act with the hot air gun. She's less than impressed with more failures.

No, I'm lined up for the: First Erin - Ireland 10-12 June V11 and Buel highland fling 15 -17 July And the GMG at Mandello 16-18 September (can't find the thread) Throw in the BMF and NEC shows, and a few day trips out to hit the Round Britain Rally I don't think I could make any more without risk of a divorce which would mean I'd have to sell the Guzzi Won't it be a bit cold, but not as cold as the elephenten?

Think they needed black centres to the holes. From some angles looks like clynders sticking up. Need to get the body filler out to get a nice triangler wedge shape to give that true wedge of cheese look. Perhaps a mouse sticking out of one of the holes now I'm just being silly

Never use mine (once discorved it was a fast idle and not a choke), get dressed, start her up and ride(gently at first). Thats not true, started her up on the shop stand the otherday to check for blows on the exhaust. Used a bit then to keep her running. The next time I rode I found myself running on when using a dab of rear brake for balance. Luckily I noticed that the revs weren't dropping below 1500 so checked the fast idle before deciding that the rear brake caliper needed an overhaul

Von Hagens had a week long TV show over here last month. A bit macarbe and gruesome meet the childrens christmas science lectures. I thought it was apealing to peoples morbid curiosity. But each to his own. I suppose some people would have learnt something new from it, which can only be a good thing, unless they start doing impromptue autopsies.

Round Britain Rally 2005
Martin Barrett replied to Martin Barrett's topic in Meetings, Clubs & Events
No, only got from Easter till end of October. A practice run, as doesn't start till next weekend. So this one doesn't count. I looked the the Rally Forum and there is dire warnings about posting clues and pictures of landmarks. So I've edited some of the detail out. I don't think i've given anything away as the village is a cross roads and this is the only xxxx within it. I'd use the mittagation of trying to promote intrest in the rally. But it means you won't get inundated with pictures till 1st November. Martin "rule breaker" Barrett -
Round Britain Rally 2005

The check points arrived yesterday and I spent yesterday evening plotting all 90 of them on to a large map of the UK made up by copying and sticking together the six index pages of my road atlas. look the point up on the main pages and then plot it. Gives a rough idea where the points are in relation to each other, which ones are doable on route to The Erin or Spean Bridge ( or whilst there) Hit my first one today, The closest one is about 10 miles away. I had a spare hour, it would have been rude not to. The rain started halfway there. Turned up trying to work out best positioning for the Guzzi, Rally check card and feature to photograph. Took one, change battery warning came on so changed to the spare rechargeables. Framed up the shot and it came on again Least I had a useable picture and if it wasn't its not as if I travelled half way across the country. The pump outlet is hidden against the armco, and the check card is washed out, so will do it again Once the rally starts on Good Friday -
From the parts list Todd posted this link to. I think you are looking at frames C9 & C10 item no 25 which is part no 04238300, over item no 21 part no 04238200 biesal also posted links within this thread to V11 parts manuals and Paul also included a 1974-1996 all inclusive list (187 mb) don't down load that one by mistake This is belfastguzzi's definative how to conduct a roadside repair no parts required

I'm not sure this is a good offer to take up - J O'Sullivan at the UK V11 won the prize for smallest tent But was well equiped , had ensuite bathroom, can see his rubber duck to the bottom right of the picture It looks like I will be making it across. Not planned any of the detail yet. But likely to camp.

Bitubo Steering Damper Alternatives
Martin Barrett replied to al_roethlisberger's topic in Technical Topics
The ignition key isn't too bad, could do with a light in it to find the hole in the dark. Is there any other bits not mentioned -
Caterham, Westfield, Marcos - kit cars mainly but do a turn key option, Noble - forgot about that but in real terms even less relevent than the above Ariel - no idea didn't know they existed Strange thing leaders in motorsport , most of the F1 teams based here , but no indiginous volume manufacturer - strange world

Rover as most of the british car industry once independant became part of the 70'S nationalised BMC - British leyland group. which was subsequently sold off and broken back down into seperate parts. So Land Rover and Range Rover were once part of same group. Rover fans will point out that they once were innovators - made a jet car - and produced some fast sporty saloons (60's and 70's) Became number two in the prestige league after Jaguar/Daimler. Sold off with big share owned by Honda made competent badge engineered versions of Hondas. Honda went and was replaced briefly by BMW who kept only the Mini and they still make fairly competent small, medium and large hatch/saloon/estate variants. With sporty versions by MG. I'm a bit confused with who owns what in the British Car industry these days. I think its only TVR and Reliant (I’m not sure they're still trading) left. Globalisation - take to the streets, arise. I could do with the overtime.

The secret is in the preparation. I find a coating of Nitromors as a primer, will achieve the perfect matching finish to correspond with the crank cases.
