Martin Barrett Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 You saw the vid ......... Oh, if you still need more ... here's a vid of doing the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap. It's 8 1/2 minutes long, and would have been worse--I mean longer--but my batteries died. Wayne Orwigs says if I went faster, they would have held up! ......... decal on my fuselage. Nice photos, thanks for the warning made a fresh cuppa for the perusal there of. I'm a bit taken a back by the chap with the radar detector who waved you by to spring the trap. But good call on the sixth sense. Don't assume all the LEOs will be at the RTC depending on how serious it is a few may have been assigned and then some cancelled when not required. I do this all the time depending on how reliable the initial report is. I've still half a cup of coffee left and no 8 1/2 minute video. Where's the link

Sorry, Martin. http://www.use.com/10741 As for LEO's, I did not wish to be the focus, but they need to be there; see this--in red: http://www.tailofthedragon.com/
docc Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Three of the Raiders had not done the Gap and went while we wandered around the carnival at the Crossroads. I was surprised how soon they were back. Funny though, they didn't talk much about it.
motowfo Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Quick note to Bill (and Kathy)... Thanks so much for posting your pictures!! (although I was expecting to see an LT/GoldWing chase down). Great picts!! Rick
nose2wind Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Hello all, Made it back to Dallas! Did some wandering in AR before my return. Total around 2,500 miles. Docc the day we left Sweetwater I stopped near Sarse,AR around 520 miles that day. Great time! Later
Martin Barrett Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Oops. Incidentally the first job I had to assign this morning on sitting down at 6:45 was a fatal motorcycle accident. Really took the edge off my day, I'd only just commented on what a lovely day (weather wise) it was as we walked in from the car park
docc Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Most gracious and always smiling . . . she can bring Bill back anytime! 1

Bill Hagan Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 **** Remember this is a dry county. There is beer and such at the local grocery but if you desire grappa, good scotch or other serious libations, be advised : BYO. **** And, looks as if it will still be dry next year. Sigh. http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/local_news/art...5588675,00.html No doubt will soon be talk of hanging chads. I'm a big believer in "local option" . . . well, as long as they vote my way. Oh well, we seem to have wet the county down a bit by our visit! Regards from Atlanta, Bill P.S. Kathi says she wants to the Cherohala on Saturday. I said, nah, I had chores to do. Right! We think we (Kathi, Phillipe Combier--a Cafe' Sporter, and I) may have lunch at one of these places ... and probably Blue Waters ... if anyone is going to be near: http://www.cherohalacrossing.com/ [doesn't look "elegant," & may have the chaps set! :-) ] http://www.bluewatersmtnl.com/view.php?id=10 http://www.blueboarinn.com/finedining.html A possibility ... if we all have "better" deodorants!
docc Posted June 21, 2007 Author Posted June 21, 2007 Again, I must say, we are in for a new venue next year. The Cracker Barrel is 'moving' and I believe it is good to have a restaurant ( breakfast, lunch and dinner) walking distance from the drinking, er, I mean, the, uh, place we park the bikes. I would also not miss the blue-light-and-siren infested 25 mile stretch of TN68. I still can't get my Aerostich clean from that last, er, circumstance.
docc Posted September 15, 2007 Author Posted September 15, 2007 For 2008 South'n Spine Rahiders are looking for new digs. Do any of you have an opinion on Phillips Motel in Robbinsville, NC? phillipsmotel
andy york Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I have a problem with some of government employees that work in Robbinsville Well, I don't have a problem with them but they certainly don't like me oh well lets ride andy
docc Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 No outstanding warrants? I hear Phillip's is a good place for motorcyclists, yet I'm still thinking there may be a better place. Especially if the group expands again. Input from the North Carolina and East Tennessee members is most respected. . .
