Crooz,

If you decide to tackle the replacement. Disconnect the sensor wires and remove the shift linkage and remove the allen screws around the perimiter. DO NOT TOUCH THE ACORN NUT on the sidecase. :luigi:

The acorn nut is the shift adjustment access. If you remove it, you will spend a lot of time finding the right adjustment to get your shifting back to spot on. You don't need the hassle. :grin:

Because I saw that someone (a guest) was looking at this thread just now:

This gist of it is, a couple of members of this forum put rather a lot of effort into producing an alternative spring that looks like it should last pretty much forever. Jump to the later post to find out whether there are still some available. :)

OK, now that this has awakened again, is this spring problem in every V11 year?

Mine broke on the road. I had the replacement in my tool sac.

I laid the bike down on my jacket and opened the gearbox lid.

Didn't even need to drain the oil.
