Disconnect the sensor wires and remove the shift linkage and remove the allen screws around the perimiter. DO NOT TOUCH THE ACORN NUT on the sidecase. If you remove it, you will spend a lot of time finding the right adjustment to get your shifting back to spot on. You don't need the hassle.
