Guest NotRight Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Kurt Vonnegut has shuffled off. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/12/books/12...amp;oref=slogin I know some here will be saddened. Wasn't that the guy who played Squiggy on "The Laverne And Shirley Show" ? He seemed so young. But I guess that show was from the 50's.
dlapierre Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Depressingly true, in the main, although there are exceptions. When I asked my son, who is a scientist and therefore can be expected to read only research material and pornography, whether he knew that Vonnegut had died, I discovered from the ensuing conversation that he had read more of his work than I had...... So it goes! Another exception. I mentioned to my 15 year old son that one of my literary heroes, Vonnegut, died. I asked if he had heard of him. He told me they studied one of Vonneguts essays last year, in grade 9 in his English class. I looked by my boy's bedside. In the messy stack is some Vonnegut novels, and also some of my old Tom Robbins novels. This kid will turn out fine.
