Morris Sod Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 With Caporex back in form I predict a Ducati 1 & 2 with a Yamaha thrown in for good measure
Pierre Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Hayden managed to qualify 6th. Maybe he's getting that bike sorted. Edwards again qualifies high, but I've come to expect him to fade during the race. Is this the one where Pedrosa and Rossi finally go head to head with victory on the line? I'd love to see that. I keep hoping Hopkins will break through. Looking forward to a great race. I'm going to watch it Sunday on Speed (standard delay here in USA) with some friends. Please put "spoiler" in header if you decide to discuss results before then. TIA. FWIW the Ducati's are still a lot faster than the Yamahas. Honda and Suzuki are getting closer - but how is it Pedrosa is almost 10 kph faster than Hayden? MotoGP Istanbul Park Circuit Qualifying Practice (max speed kmh) : 1 -46 Valentino ROSSI (ITA) YAMAHA 1'52.795 (288.8) 2 -5 Colin EDWARDS (USA) YAMAHA 1'52.944 (286.5) 3 -26 Dani PEDROSA (SPA) HONDA 1'52.971 (294.3) 4 -27 Casey STONER (AUS) DUCATI 1'53.375 (298.3) 5 -65 Loris CAPIROSSI (ITA) DUCATI 1'53.559 (297.7) 6 -1 Nicky HAYDEN (USA) HONDA 1'53.613 (285.2) 7 -21 John HOPKINS (USA) SUZUKI 1'53.637 (293.0) 8 -14 Randy DE PUNIET (FRA) KAWASAKI 1'53.706 (291.1) 9 -71 Chris VERMEULEN (AUS) SUZUKI 1'53.771 (289.3) 10 -24 Toni ELIAS (SPA) HONDA 1'53.835 (286.2) 11 -19 Olivier JACQUE (FRA) KAWASAKI 1'53.847 (293.2) 12 -56 Shinya NAKANO (JPN) HONDA 1'53.988 (287.3) 13 -4 Alex BARROS (BRA) DUCATI 1'54.082 (294.6) 14 -33 Marco MELANDRI (ITA) HONDA 1'54.143 (291.9) 15 -6 Makoto TAMADA (JPN) YAMAHA 1'54.206 (285.3) 16 -7 Carlos CHECA (SPA) HONDA 1'54.221 (284.4) 17 -66 Alex HOFMANN (GER) DUCATI 1'54.421 (296.2) 18 -10 Kenny ROBERTS JR (USA) KR212V 1'54.527 (283.9) 19 -50 Sylvain GUINTOLI (FRA) YAMAHA 1'54.845 (288.3)

Honda and Suzuki are getting closer - but how is it Pedrosa is almost 10 kph faster than Hayden? Maybe Nicky has chunked up Looking at the numbers, assuming riders being roughly equal, Ducati is the favorite for MUSCLE and Yamaha the favorite whatever else makes a bike fast ( I still say it is the reverse direction motor, and maybe the Yamaha Ohlins connection helps, but people prefer to think of Rossi as simply God like, when in fact he is simply the best ever ), with Honda now being the underdog....WTF But I guess the real underdog is KR junior

Pedrosa weights about nothing... the ducatis look good in trim race, i think we may have a red dawn tomorrow
gthyni Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 "Trick Daddy" was almost slowest on race tyres, he managed to get a good lap on a qualifing tyre. I predict 10th place or worse for him. my tip: 1. Rossi 2. Pedrosa 3. Stoner
Guzzirider Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I have a feeling in my bones that it will be Casey today- if he stays on the bike and his tyres last. Guy

helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 ..... and a fine, exciting race it was!!! Crashes, bashes and passes !! Lots of passing and lots of position changes and the final order wasn't sure until the last corner. I think I might consider Bridgestone tires next time. Perhaps they should be called BridgeStoners??
coz1100 Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Perhaps they should be called BridgeStoners?? Oh, jim that was bad. Was a damn good race though. That was a rather nasty crash and I'm still trying to figure out what was up with rossi. Ciao Z
g.forrest Posted April 23, 2007 Author Posted April 23, 2007 With Caporex back in form I predict a Ducati 1 & 2 with a Yamaha thrown in for good measure you very near had the trifecta morris! great race excellent ride by casey. the speculation on rossi is front tyre problem, he did near ride the wheels off it! ciao gazza.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I'm still trying to figure out what was up with rossi. Michelin hustled the tyre away at light speed and we may never know but the tyre had Rossi "scared" as he put it! Whatever. He who crosses the line first - wins!
antonio carroccio Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I dunno what it is, but Aussie-with-Ducati is the perfect match
Morris Sod Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Yeah good eh, from an aussie point of view. I also predict that stoner will go well in china as well with the track having a 1.2km straight which will suit the top line speed of the Duc. Its not like rossi to have 2 corner overshoots in a race unless he had some problem as he obviously had. But would have made interesting racing if he and vermulen had seen race end intact. Chris was doing 1.52's in the later part of the race just get get some points back. How come Olie Jacques is still out there, he should have been pensioned off years ago, he's also been bit of a spoiler for other riders in previous races. Thats racing I guess.
Tom M Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Hayden and Rossi could be screwed if Bridgestone has in fact developed a far superior tire to Michelin. http://www.motorcycledaily.com/23april07_bridgestone.htm
