Pierre Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Lorenzo officialized with Yamaha (800 cc) We are currently in talks with Valentino (Rossi) and Colin (Edwards). Three official bikes or for with bikes with two in an official squad and two in a sattelite squad, all options are possible. We will release as soon as possible our plans for next MotoGP season http://tinyurl.com/3d4d5k So what will that team look like next year? Is Colin out? Is Rossi's contract up - can he move without contract hassles?
jihem Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 So what will that team look like next year? Is Colin out? Is Rossi's contract up - can he move without contract hassles? There are many rumours around...Some say Yamaha will do two teams and one of them will run Bridgestones, with Vale. The other team would be on Michelin with Lorenzo...Rossi has been more than explicit how he feels about Michelin right now. As for his contract; I'm sure there must be some cool clauses there specifying he can do pretty much what he wants in fact. Michelin and Yamaha will have to deliver or he's out (IMHO). I don't know about Colin and as much as i like the guy, many think he hasn't show enough sunday performances to keep his seat. He's been rumoured as Lorenzo's sidekick, as Yamaha official rider in US SBK, or back into WSBK (which I doubt).
gthyni Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 the problems are in the new tyres regulation, the teams has to pick a limited assortment of tyres on thursday to use for the whole weekend before they have even run one lap on the track. It is a gamble and does promote tight exciting races, scrap those Mickey Mouse rules now, it is hurting the sport badly.

Michelin used to have a HUGE advantage on the other tyres factories cos they were manufacturing tyres specifically for the race after the riders' input and ship them on saturday night...Something had to be done. I'm with you: I don't think the 31-tyres-designated-on-thursday-rule is the right one , but at least it takes care of that DHL night flight disadvantage for Dunlop and Bridgestone. Maybe "just" forbidding the late shipping would do ?

Guzzirider Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I'm shedding no tears for Honda, Yamaha and Michelin- for many years they had it their own way- and now they are getting their arses kicked by the underdogs. Great!!
Pierre Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 MotoGP : Toseland Signs with Yamaha Tech 3 http://tinyurl.com/34k2ho I wonder who's leaving? Guintoli? Tamada? I see they're also dumping Dunlop.

Might be both if Yamaha puts Lorenzo in Tech Trois?? Guintoli is a rookie who has done all you could expect given the circumstances, Tamada is the veteran who should step into Checa's role as developer but has not delivered. Go figure.

Pierre Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 http://tinyurl.com/ynmyof Indy track layout being finalized. http://tinyurl.com/ynmyof Appears to be on schedule. FWIW, anyone here interested in attending? There's a guy on the Aprilia list who has purchased a large block of what are purported to be good seats. Includes a parade lap - but on your own bike (no, you don't get to pick yer' favorite off the grid). Pretty large crowd of Aprila nuts already signed up. The guy putting this together (Bob Davis) runs a B & B in Indianapolis and is a known quantity, having put together any number of events for the Aprilia faithful. I'm in, BTW. Here's a link to that action: http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126493
