scottybee
I remember seeing a post from someone that just took the front crossover pipe off and welded caps on the sleeves. Does anyone know about this?
Guest ratchethack
I b'lieve that was my post. My Pal with '04 LM did this after one too many repeat nightmare scenarios/trips to the dealer trying to seal off/quiet down his perpetually leaky, banging-on-the-alternator-cover front crossover. He couldn't detect any performance difference wotsoever, and was greatly relieved to be rid of the problem. He runs a Stucchi crossover with modified stock LaFranc's. Does anyone know about this? In addition to r'back's reply, you may also want to look at this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...amp;hl=fracture I am in line for a pair of those ... tho explaining to Kathi how I am really selling the Ballabio and buying the new headers is a bit of a challenge. scottybee
Thanks Guys I do like those header from RacerX but too many other uses for the $300 right now. I think I'm going to have a local guy that does real nice welding try to cut those sleeves , nipples whatever you call them off and weld in a patch. The idea being make it look like they were never there. If He doesn't think He can do that then just cut em real short and weld a cap on. Then I think I'll just High Temp paint or possibly powdercoat the pipes black and the stock cans red. By the way since I'm new to MG where would a guy get one of the Stucchi crossovers and how much are they.
cycles4fun
Years ago I put a 3/4 fairing on my Lemans 4 and the BUB crossover was in the way. I called up Dennis Manning at BUB and he made me a set of headers without the crossover. I then welded in a crossover under the gearbox and it worked fine. No notable change.
