joe camarda Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Looking to get either a Cafe Sport or LM Corse, but have a quick q'. Does the Ohlins suspension raise the seat height, or is it the same height as non-Ohlins? BTW, if anyone knows of any leads on either of the above bikes I'd appreciate a PM.
rocker59 Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 As far as I can tell the seat heights are basically the same. I've had no complaints about the seat or the seat height on my 2004 Nero Corsa...
dlaing Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 My understanding is that Ohlins can go as low as the MarzocchiSachs combo, but it can go even higher if you reduce the sag at the shock. My Ohlins are at least an inch longer than my Marzocchis, but they can certainly be lowered. The Ohlins shock has more travel and length, but the bottoming point is at the same exact low. If it is too high, just back off on the pre-load. If you bottom, get a firmer spring.
Baldini Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Compared with other V11's, Scura looks to sit much higher at back. Never measured anything, but always assumed shock was longer. KB

g.forrest Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Have noticed my Scura is much higher than mates (Morris Sod) Rosso M. yeah
Martin Barrett Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 KB's Scura is noticeably higher than my out of the box Lemans. I don't think it's because I've exceeded the Young's modulus of the spring (can you do this in compression?)
Greg Field Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Joe: We have two Cafe Sports at Moto Intl. One is set up with Guzzi Ti pipes, Throttlemeister, Motobits foot controls, and a few other things.

The 'Moto Bits' one is a possibility when my Ducati MTS sells: http://www.multistrada.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9352 In meantime, I'm still deciding between the Corse Lemans and Cafe.
biesel Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Any ideas how much taler the bikes with OHLINS are and how to lower them?
pete roper Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Any ideas how much taler the bikes with OHLINS are and how to lower them? If you let all the air out of the tyres that lowers 'em by about 2 inches! Sorry! Pete
Slavomir Musilek (R.I.P.) Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 what about lowering the all rear part? re-mount the under-saddle frame that connects to those nice shinny stuff attatched to the sides of frame
biesel Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 While searching this (great) forum and the WWW I found these infos: Öhlins: Part No. MG 127 Type 46HRCS Length 286 mm Stroke 70 mm Spring 1091-26 P/C 24 Lenght & stroke in comparison: Öhlins 286/70 --------------- Sachs 278/60 --------------- White Power 280/64 So it seems that the Öhlins has the longest stroke. Maybe it is possible to get the bike a little bit lower with a different spring - what do you think? Length of the used "1091-26" spring: 160 mm Other springs:
Tom M Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Maybe it is possible to get the bike a little bit lower with a different spring - what do you think? I don't see why this wouldn't work for you as long as you're willing to trade less rear wheel travel for lower seat height. If you're happy with the spring rate that you have now a shorter spring with the same rate and the same preload setting should work as long as you make sure that there's enough preload to prevent the spring from being totally slack when the shock is fully extended.
Greybeard Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Every Ohlins I've had came with seperate ride height adjustment, independent of the stroke length. Damn well should for what they charge, eh?
