Another great racer gone

Jack Findlay was an Australian Grand Prix road racer competing on the Grand Prix circuit from 1961 to 1978. He won the first ever 500 GP for a 2 stroke, the first win for Michelin and the first 500 win for Suzuki. He rode Suzuki TR500s in 1973 and 1974. In 1974 he was a member of the Suzuki factory racing team and helped develop the RG500. He won the Isle of Man TT after 15 years of trying in 1973. He won the Formula 750 World Championship in 1975. He also raced a Moto Guzzi 750S in the 1972 Imola 200.

 

Both he and Giacomo Agostini starred in a French documentary movie from 1969 called Continental Circus. I've never seen it but I have heard it is one of the best racing movies ever.

 

He retired from racing and became MotoGP's technical director.

 

He passed away today at the age of 71.

 

He lived in France and is survived by his wife Dominique.
