joe camarda Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Just spent the evening installing a FBF crossover and moving the MG Ti pipes from the high to the low position. They're lop-sided Has anyone else done this? Were your results different? I suspect that the FBF crossover is the culprit.

I'm not quite sure what lop-sided is, but I spent a LOT of time trying to align the Ti's on the bike with a Mistral crossover. I only managed a 80% fit no matter what I tried. I blame the Ti downpipes and the hopelessly flimsy fasteners. If you tire with this and want to get rid of the Ti's I'm ready to spend, I need a new right hand can
stormsedge Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I had a hard time with the Stucchi X-over and stock cans as well. Believe there is a thread on this particular item and that the cause is potentially the X-over being more square than the OEM which may have allowed for the right (starboard for you Sailors) header pipe being set back further due to cylinder arrangement. I seem to recall a couple of people saying they had shortened said starboard pipe a bit to straighten the whole thing out. I've been meaning to do this myself, but find that as long as the weather is good I'd rather ride than tinker. I do have some carbon at a couple of my pipe fittings indicating some leakby and have read that the leaks could cause a lean condition in the motor...since I seem to be forever tweaking my PCIII map, maybe it is time to fix my pipes? What do you think? k
Tom M Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 My FBF crossover and MG Ti cans line up just fine in the high position. I never tried the low position so i can't vouch for how well they line up like that. You probably already know this but be aware that the pipes between the crossover and the mufflers aren't interchangeable, the right side has more of a bend to clear the driveshaft. Get 'em reversed and the cans won't line up. Not that this helps anything but here are some pics of the stock crossover compared to the FBF (with added hanger)
Guest Mattress Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Do you mean one muffler looks higher than the other when viewing from the rear? My 04 cafe sport (same as Coppa except for paint) with stock mufflers was like this, one higher than the other. Same when I went to Staintunes. I didn't study it because it didn't bother me, but it seemed to be something with a difference in passenger footpeg brackets.
grossohc Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I have the ti pipes with the standard crossover in the high position, one is a tiny bit higher looking from the back, i cant be bothered messing about with it, so have left it, And NOBODY has noticed. Gary
Ballabio Bertie Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I noticed Gary, they look really shabby.......you should let me have 'em!
