joe camarda Posted June 4, 2007 Share Posted June 4, 2007 I've located a gas tank but since its in Europe it will cost about $400 to get it here to the U.S. It does not have the pump, filter or gas cap. Meaning of course that I would have to either: 1. Buy those items and install them. 2. Swap those items out from my Coppa tank to the "new" tank. Can anyone give me some ball park figures for solution #1. If I were to undertake the swap myself, is it a dfficult job or does it require special tools? There are cheaper options from here. with fedex it cost for a 10 kg package FedEx International Priority® 182.45 euro. And with normal postal service a lot cheaper. waspp Posted June 4, 2007 Share Posted June 4, 2007 Not to long ago there was a RC fuel tank on ebay from a dealer in Atlanta. I watched it two times and no bids were placed, who knows maybe its still available! Pulling the pump assembly is simple, there are several hex head bolts underneath the tank and the unit comes right out. The rubber gasket is reusable and you may want to change the fuel filter while you have it on the bench. I know there is a BMW filter that is the same...on the shelf and cheaper. Unless the tank is from a Nero/Rosso Corsa, I plan on re-painting anyway so paint damage isnt a problem. So I'd prefer light or no damage, but I'd consider anything not extensively rashed.
