Baldini Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 Can anyone tell me which way you turn the fuel petcock to turn it OFF. (which way looking up from below). Fuel pours out as soon as I start to disconnect the hose whichever way it's turned. Would fuel be draining from the filter/pump? Thanks, KB, Wales
callison Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 THe valve is closed when fully seated after turning it clockwise as viewed from the top of the petcock valve stem, which I think is upside down on the new V11 Sports. II have a 2001 and so have to contend with the electric version, but that is how it is on my Sport 1100i. Generally, the petcocks work fine, but I have seen one Scura with one so stiff that it takes pliers to actually turn it. There's always some fuel in the lines that spills, but I've never encountered large quantities except when I neglected to close the petcock completeley or when changing the fuel filter.
Baldini Posted July 24, 2003 Author Posted July 24, 2003 Carl, Thanks for reply. I got it sorted...It was only closing part way, couldn't turn it anymore. Maybe petrol lubed it cos it suddenly turned full in. It's OK now...til next time! Thanks, KB.
Mike Stewart Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I think it has something to do with male bondage. No, I think that was a Goldmember! Mike
jrt Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 Man, when it goes downhill, it goes over a cliff. A petcock is a valve to shut off gasoline from the tank or, in a house, natural gas.
