gthyni Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I have lost the rear brake, a small leak has been getting worse to last days. Now I have no pressure an the leak is so bad it is impossible to bleed. After bleeding I got a moment of pressure and then its gone. I suspect that the leak is from the gasket around the hydralic pistons I this fixable (have look for repair kit but have found any) or must I replace the whole caliper?
Baldini Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 Goran, I don't know if a rebuild kit is available but Motomecca do most Brembo stuff. Can't find their list now but their phone no is: (UK) 01202 823453. KB, Wales
Gio Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 If, as you suspect, the leak is from the piston seal, then you just need to replace this seal. It would be a good idea to remove the piston, clean the whole caliper assembly (mild soap and water works well) and allow to dry thoroughly before doing this. Be carefull not to scratch the piston or caliper bore however. Gio
gthyni Posted July 24, 2003 Author Posted July 24, 2003 Thanks for the replies, I found a "overhaul kit" at Motomecca that I think fits. I will check tomorrow if my local Ducati dealer can supply me with something like that else I'll just order from England. Luckily I seldom use the rear break. just feel a bit of uncertainty not have it available.
