Crooz Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Took off factory exhaust cans on my 02 LeMans, replacing with M4's or Mistrails simply for weight & appearance reasons. Must the bike be reprogrammed? or will it run fine as is with the new canisters? Thanks in advance...
Van Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 It'll probably run better with the new cannisters. Yep, thats right, l fitted Mistrals, it goes great, and sounds the way it should!! Cheers Van
moscowphil Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Mine ran worse when I fitted Mistrals until I also fitted a Powercommander - it lost torque (subjectively), and generally felt rough at low revs. Not so bad when ridden hard, but a bit of a pain around town. The Powercommander sorted it out (it now feels great), and Mistrals do sound lovely (not ridiculously noisy, but hang on to your originals for MOT time!). I guess the answer is probably that every bike is different, so you might just have to fit them and see - but be prepared for the possibility that you might need to spend more money sorting out the injection.
tikkanen Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Hi Crooz See Moscowphil's comments - I can echo that. A PC-III will be an improvement and by using this little gadget you can tweak the engine to (aaaalmoooost) avoiding the flat spot around 3.000 RPMs. A Dynotest - at least in Denmark - is not that expensive so my advice is to cough up with the dole and take the entire Mistral + Dyno package. Just tell your girlfriend/wife that this will make you a happier man! Cheers Søren
