andy york Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 So what size is the wire that runs the headlight? Is it 20, 18, 16 ....I know its small but this is stupid andy
badmotogoozer Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Did yourheadlight connector melt too? Mine just did. Looks like thin insulated 18ga but should be 16. If it is 20 that's waaay too small. Won't know for sure until I strip it. Time to wire in some relays, larger wire and a ceramic bodied connector. Rj
andy york Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 No, the connector is good. I would just really like to get more lite on the road. The Le Mans has a shitty headlight. A 60w bulb draws 5 amps...in theory..20g wire is good for 11 amps. The weird thing is the 30 amp main fuse got hot enough to distort the plastic but did not blow the fuse.Wish I had an extra harness so I could put some 16 g wire in for the whole headlamp circuit. o well ...I need something cold. andy
docc Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Yes the lamp feed is dinky. Plus the current runs through the switch. And the main fuses do melt without blowing. Look at this thread.
